Finally, I will tell each of you the same thing I have told every single person who has asked me this question. The axiom goes, writers write. If you really ARE a writer, you will write if all you have is a hunk of charcoal and a tablet. Writers care less about money, fame, and being a writer than they do about actually writing. This is no less true about game makers. Game makers build worlds and make games even if the only people who ever play them are their friends and all they have is a deck of cards.

Thank you for this post. While I'm not looking to work in the game industry, I found this really engaging and interesting.

The above quote is so true. I'm actually working on getting two degrees so that I can get a paycheck, so that I don't have to worry about my writing paying the bills.

    1. We pay for this!

    2. The whole concept behind a super hero game is to make powerful heroes, so if a person finds their much loved been weaken or the rewards being reduce (sewers and Karens). Of course we/I get pissed (see 1.).

    3. It is an intentional issue, many people feel that the "reaching balance thru reduction" results in weaken a mush loved character. How about "reaching balance thru improvement", so our loved Heroes get more powerful! I love it when I played with the retired Dark Iron on champion as a Regen/DM at 50 he rocked, kicked everything, much enjoyment.

Adults behaving like children? Adults paying out good cash and in love with their created hero maybe!!

    Peace

You're paying for the right to play a game. You're not paying for the right to treat a person as less than a human being. All CuppaJo asked for, was that people treat the devs in a fashion that they would like to be treated.

When you are at work, would you rather a customer walk up and calmly tell you about a problem they're having, or would you prefer to have them walk up screaming incoherently and calling you names and questioning the marital status of your parents? Quite honestly, the only retail job that I ever enjoyed and felt like helping customers was the one where I was allowed to tell a customer who was abusing me that if they didn't stop it, I'd hang up on them. I was more prone to help every customer, especially the ones who had a genuine gripe, but handled it like an adult.

So, I'll be happen to put on the "Flame Bullseye"(tm) when I say that my opinion is quite simply if you can't get a point across without screaming and acting like a toddler having a hissy fit, then feel free to go find another game. I personally won't miss you at all. I think my gaming experience would be improved by the eradication of some the abusive jerks I've seen in the forums, because most of my reason for not posting here more frequently is that I read the forums and become enraged by the manner in which I see some posters treating the Devs.

I say that because I don't think that most of those who make a habit out of being abusive understand how good you have it. You actually have a group of hardcore gamers who are developing this game. These aren't a group of MegaCorp appointed suits who are more interested in their profit margin than if the game is enjoyable.

When I voice a gripe about the game, I try to picture myself having a disagreement with a tabletop gamemaster. I talk politely, but then again, perhaps I am a member of a dying breed and I expect too much out of my fellow humans.

For my part, Devs, keep doing what you're doing. Some of us actually appreciate it.

    XP and I5

I had an idea on this one...

With the missions being set to give less debt on deaths, I thought it would be interesting to have it set so that debt goes down more exponentially depending on how many people are on the team. If there are only 2 people on the team, the debt will be more than if there is a full 8 man team.

Which I think would make teaming for missions even more palatable.
