  1. The Night Watchmen is now open for all serious role-players. The story-line concept of The Night Watchmen is simple: “loner” heroes who prefer to do things their way. They’re mostly “street level” heroes (think Daredevil, Cage, etc), and prefer to keep under the radar. Because of this, they’re not really “joiners”. They’re not the kind of people who sign up for the average Supergroup and attend weekly meetings.

However, they’ve come to a point in their career where they’ve realized the value in having a network of associates, and the ability to pool resources and share information (even Batman has Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, and will probably have Oracle again in the near future).

That’s where The Night Watchmen come in. The Night Watchmen is less a traditional superteam and more a network of heroes with a standing agreement to share information, and if necessary, serve as occasional backup. Think of the short-live Marvel Knights team of Dare Devil, Cage, Moon Knight, The Black Widow and Cloak and Dagger.

The value of this isvery strong in the real world: this group is tailor-made for the COH role player who doesn’t have a ton of time on their hands. I work as a computer technician, and while I occasionally find a few hours in one shot to sit down (mostly on Sundays), I’ll often have weeks where I’m so busy I might not have more than an hour or two the entire week. Still, I enjoy role-playing, and would like to get to know some people to group with that can get to know my character, so I can add a bit of depth to him. This, of course can be difficult when you’re on a tight schedule, because you can’t just look at a player and know if he’s a role-player. When you join The Night Watchmen, you’ll get access to the Supergroup window, and you’ll know that everyone on that list is a role-player. All you have to do is right-click a name, click chat, and get something going! And best of all, our only requirement is that you log on with your character at least ONCE a week to let us know you’re still alive. That’s it. Once a week. Doesn’t matter if you log in for two minutes and then log out.

The Night Watchmen is technically one of the oldest SG’s in the game. It was founded on the first day of the retail launch, founded by my character The Night Raven, who has been in the game since literally five minutes after the servers went live post-beta (he actually existed in Beta as well, but under a different name, and that’s a long story). I just haven’t had enough time to dedicate to it to get it really going. I DO own the website http://www.thenightwatchmen.com . All members will get their own profile page, as well as a yourcharactersname@thenightwatchmen.com e-mail address.

Send me an e-mail at thenightraven at thenightwatchmen.com to apply.

Again, send an E-MAIL. Not a PM on the forums.

The Surviving Eight (Seven? Six?) are the heroes who survived the Rikti Wars. THese are the heroes who assign task forces. Ive noticed in the manual it says eight, in the comic (#11) it says seven, and someone on the boards once said six. Can someone clarify how many and exactly who the heroes are?

    [/ QUOTE ]

See, that's exactly what I thought, too, but it's become clear that a LOT of heroes survived the Ritki War.
  4. Who exactly ARE the surviving eight, and why are they CALLED the surviving eight?
  5. Greetings. The Delta Knights are currently seeking two tankers and a controller on the champion server. We provide a truly unique role-playing experience. We are taking RP to the next level, and create an experience that makes this game more like what the general concept is: a giant, interactive story. So what’s so unique about this group?

To put it simply, story-based continuity. That’s right, I said continuity.

We have formed a supergroup that currently meets every Tuesday at 8:00pm EST (that’s 7CST and 6PST). Outside of this time and day, the characters in the group are ONLY be played in a social manner, unless exemplaring off debt (IE going to the club is fine, but nothing that will give you experience), thus keeping us all at relatively the same levels.

By doing this, we come to the key ingredient in making this such a unique experience: mission management. Each week, SG members E-Mail me the missions available to them through their contacts. I then e-mail them back telling them which missions to take. By doing this, we each get our fair share of mission credit, but at the same time, the Supergroup only goes through each mission storyline once. Because of this, we are creating a unified history of the team, without having any overlap. This allows for real character development and growth.

I’m working on a website for our team, with a complete history (since we’re doing each mission only once, we can actually keep a log of them as they happened) of the team. The team timeline lists our major events (major character developments, members joining or leaving, story-arcs, TF’s, trials, etc.), and links to each members personal logs of said events, where, IF said member chooses to, he can tell the story from his character’s perspective.

We have a growing library of “team stories” under our belts. Team stories are role-played events that extend the in-game mission stories. For example, since so many of the first missions a player gets are Hellion and Skull missions, I wrote up a “gang-war” storyline to tie them together, complete with entirely unique story points. The stories are tied together in the “team timeline”, which will chronicle our missions and our triumphs.

Each member will have their own profile page with personal history and whatever else they want to put up on http://www.thedeltaknights.com (coming soon, I already own the domain). You can update this whenever you want with updates and character developments. Already implemented are full-featured POP3 e-mail accounts plus web mail featuring your hero’s name (for example, my character, Lt.Roarke, can be reached at Lt.Roarke at thedeltaknigths.com).

Right now, we need two tankers and a controller, contact me for available power sets (we are trying to keep powers varied). Perspective group members must have a level 14 character or be willing to make one. Deleting an existing character and re-rolling him is fine, but by no means required. If you’re interested, e-mail me at lt.roarke at thedeltaknights.com (with your hero name, archetype and origin. If you’re just really interested in doing this and are willing to make up a hero of any archetype and/or origin, that’d be even better). It is VERY important that you are able to commit to our regular time of Tuesday at 8pm EST (that’s 7CST and 6PST).

I've got a level 13 inv/axe tank on Champion i could do this with. He has kind of a joke name though.

    Monkey's Uncle

Mutant gorilla, captured by Crey in the jungles of South America, he was freed by some heroes infiltrating the research facility he was being held in when they found out he was more than just a lab animal. He is about as smart as a normal human and loves to learn whatever he can. Currently working on his GED.

We'd love to have you, but as an RP team, I don't think that a hero parody would fit.
  7. Update: looks like we probably found our controller, but our current tanker has been called up by the reserves, so we now have two open tanker slots to fill.

Hey, guys. GREAT thing you're doing here. I'll personally try to swing by there tonight to meet up with you guys.

Welcome to Champion! It's a move I haven't to regretted.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It'd be cool to see you. However we havent' started yet. We're waiting untill we get a full team. We need two more people.
  13. We're going to be on Champion at 8:00pm EST we still need 3 more, so start looking for prospects!
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I would really be interested in this, but before I could commit I'd need to know what day/time it'd be.

(I've REALLY wanted to do something like that)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Looks like Tuesday either 8 or 9 EST is going to be the day, and from what everyone's saying, Champion will be our server.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Ok, Night Raven, I sent you a rather extensive e-mail to thenightraven@thenightwatchmen.com. Correct address? If you don't get my post about El Santo Fuego, respond here and we'll work it out.

Looking forward to talking to you about your SG idea.

As to a server, yeah, that should be worked out. Champion is good for me, and apparently is for some others.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Right address, but please edit it from your post. I make it a habit of never spelling out my e-mail address on web pages, makes it too easy for spam-bots to pick it up.
  16. For those still interested, depending on if Dr.Midnight and his wife can play at 9pm EST, I might still have 4 open slots on the team. I definetly have at least 2. So e-mail me your hero info to thenightraven at thenightwatchmen.com
  17. I'm fine with any server. Virtue's the one I play on most, and it has a strong RP presence, so that's a plus, but I'd have to toss out one of my existing characters, so that's a minus. Since we're all going to be playing together, it's not like we'll NEED other RP'ers; so if everyone wants Virtue, I'll go with that. Otherwise, if I had to pick one, I'd say anything BUT Virtue.
  18. Folks, I need to collect all this. Once again, please E-MAIL your info to thenightraven at thenightwatchmen.com

send your character name, archetype and origin if you've got one, or if you're flexible, tell me that too. I also need to know when you're available.
  19. Yes, everyone e-mail me their details at thenightraven at thenightwatchmen.com

I need your character profile (name, power sets, archetypes, origin, etc.), unless you are willing to just "take one for the team" and accept any assignment (bonus points for this). And what days/times you are availabe.

As for the site, with all due respect, Neko, I'm not sure your style is what I'm looking for. I'll more than like just make the site myself. I made http://www.thenightwatchmen.com for my sadly under-developed Super Group, so I know the basics.
  20. [ QUOTE ]

ok sounds good. We need a base of operations #cough webiste# so we can all discuss players, personalities etc.

We need a forum, can anyone make one of these ?
Neko your site doesnt seem to work

Lets get the ball rolling, Cajun

    [/ QUOTE ]

Like I said, I have the "code monster" plan from dreamhost:
    http://www.dreamhost.com/shared/comparison.html

Which gives us more then we'll ever need. I also created the site in my sig, so if no one else can do it, I'll be glad to make a site for us. I think I even know someone who can make us a forum. In the meantime, e-mail me your details.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
    Very interesting idea.

I'd love to be part of this. I can think of many team oriented roles I"d like to have.

The wise venerable ally with knowledge beyond this realm...

The young pure upstart, full of good intentions in a bad world....

Oh the possibilities! Plus the consistant team allows for a more unique character concept as you have depenable teammates. Yeah I'd be interested...can we have a brainstorming session ahead of time to kinda have a rough outline of what the general plot is...and then let it unravel however it may be from there?

Also, my wife might be interested in this kinda thing.

I'd love to RP a little side budding romance within the team with her

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dude! You've got the idea DOWN! And yes, yes, by all means we can have fairly frequent brainstorming sessions! Like I said, I want this to be story-driven. I've already got the beginning of our little saga concepulized. Basically my character is going to form a task force to help deal with the Outbreak. We'll go through it as usual, but on the second time we're sent to take out infected, we decide that we need to try to contain the disease by taking down as many of them as we can (ie 100, getting the isolator badge). Once we get that many, we realize we're fighting a loosing battle and go back to see if there's a better way. Coyote alerts us that we may be able to get an antidote by retrieving some files, but we'll have to split up to get them all (we have to each do that one to get out of there).

But, anyway, things will be like that.

And yes, you and your wife playing, and having a budding romance would be a great addition.
  22. [ QUOTE ]

yup i do and as much as possible make it so none of us have the same powers! So we all depend on each other IE The X-men wouldnt enlist 2 people that can control storms into thier group. And as Neko said restrict the team to only a small amount. 8 - 11 maybe.

weekends wouldnt be good for me though as I have family and work ( where im at now ) to think about those days.

    [/ QUOTE ]

An excellent idea with variety. As with what day, What I'm going to do is take applications untill I can get 8 of them that seem like good candidates and would be available at the same day/time.
  23. Greetings. I am looking to form a Supergroup on Virtue for a totally unique roleplaying experience on Virtue. I want to take RP to the next level, and create an experience that will make this game more like what the general concept is: an giant, interactive story. So what’s going to be so unique about this group?

To put it simply, we’re going to have story-based continuity. That’s right, I said continuity.

My proposal is to form a supergroup that will meet at a regular time on a regular day. And outside of this time and day, the characters in the group will ONLY be played in a social manner (IE going to the club is fine, but nothing that will give you experience), thus keeping us all at relatively the same levels.

By doing this, we come to the key ingredient in making this such a unique experience: mission management. Each week, SG members will E-Mail me the missions available to them through their contacts. I will then e-mail them back telling them which missions to take. By doing this, we will each get our fair share of mission credit, but at the same time, the Supergroup will only go through each mission storyline once. By doing this, we will be able to create a sort of “team chronicles”, a unified history of the team, without having any overlap.

I’d even like to create a team website for our team, with a complete history (since we’re doing each mission only once, we can actually keep a log of them as they happened) of the team. Each member will have their own profile page with personal history and whatever else they want to put up. You can update this whenever you want with updates and character developments You will each get a full-featured POP3 e-mail account plus webmail featuring your hero’s name. I will even spring for a domain and host the site on my web hosting plan (http://www.dreamhost.com/shared/comparison.html I have the top-level “strictly business” plan, giving us MORE than enough features). I’m willing to create the site, though I’ll admit my creation expertise is somewhat limited. Anyone with more extensive webmaster experience is welcome to take the reigns.

Ideally, I’d like to have eight heroes, (so that we can all play on one team). Made up of at least one of each archetype and origin. Perspective group members must be willing to either create a new hero specifically for the team (we’re going to start in outbreak and work our way up), or delete a character and re-create him/her. If you’re interested, e-mail me at thenightraven at thenightwatchmen.com ( with your hero name, archetype and origin. If you’re just really interested in doing this and are willing to make up a hero of any archetype and/or origin, that’d be even better. I also need to know what times you’ll be available. It is VERY important that you are able to commit to a regular day and time.
  24. Sounds cool. The only thing you gotta remember is this: if my main response amounts to "..." followed by "we have a job to do", it's all just part of the character, and chances are I'm enjoying every minute of whatever you're saying to me in-character.

Anyway, once this out-or-nowhere crap-storm from work dies down, I'll be getting in some more time in Paragon, and I'll see if I can scrounge up an excuse to contact you.
  25. I'm looking for people to role-play with on Virtue. I'm very into role-playing, and I can go an entire multi-hour session without breaking chracter. There is a sort of catch, though. A reason I have to seek RP'ers here, instead of just looking for them in-game. My main character, The Night Raven., isn't what you'd call a social person. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those guys who uses roleplaying as an excuse to be a jerk, but Raven is the "strong, silent type" with emphasis on the silent. He doesn't generally like people, either. Imagine Batman if he'd never taken on a Robin, and you've got Night Raven.. He'd team with others if he thought there was a situation dire enough, but you've got to understand that he's not chatty.

Still, my character has depth, and I'm very interested in expanding him and his story. If Raven learned to trust someone (to a point, Raven never FULLY trusts ANYONE), there'd be less need for a reason to team up.

Anyway, I'd love to get together with serious role-players interested in growing their characters. I'd even be happy to brain-storm character development with people. I think my presence would add some interesting variety to your RP sessions. So let me know if you're interested.
