And here too, except it's Friday already, yay! Just got a feeling that now they'll be datamining and examining the aftermath of the events on Virtue and Guardian to see what they've learnt. Avatea's announcement definately means that there will be more, of 'this', sometime, on different servers.

    Links are your friend.

The Purple Claw and all the other stout heroes and villains of the world will be ready for ya when you next choose to try it on!

I'm reading that as, "We're done for the day...but this was just a taste of things to come." I hope I'm right. This may have been a small scale two shard test of what's in the pipeline for all servers ("world-wide").

I was expecting an announcement at 3 minutes to the hour like the last two, but maybe it's lunchtime at Paragon Studios. If there's nothing more in the next hour, then, I'd guess that's all she wrote, at least for today.

With good reason! I would expect another forum announcement in the Server section in the next 10-15 minutes based on how things are going.
  7. Skies of Freedom still clear. That's okay though, the Purple Claw will be waiting for them when they dare show their misshapen heads around here.
  8. Virtue eh? When you're ready for the Purple Claw, I'll see ya on Freedom. No sightings as yet.

  9. From the information at hand my speculation is on this being a 'regular' Rikti Invasion Week, kicked off with some Dev-run Rikti (ala Niv'i'ene etc) rallying the Rikti forces to give it some extra punch.

Any more than that I think will be asking a bit much, although we've all been recently suprised by the amount of Ponies they've snuck into our rooms like Power Customisation and the Walk emote. Is there a long-held, constantly asked for, thing regarding the Rikti that the playerbase wants? Why yes, the return of the Motherships! So, if I were to stretch things, and set myself up for potential disappointment I'd go with:

    * Most likely: Regular Rikti Invasion with some Dev/Mod-led Rikti NPC's.
    * The Surprise version: Regular Rikti Invasion, return of the Motherships, and some Dev/Mod-led Rikti NPC's.
  10. Thanks very much for reviewing my arcs, and I'm very happy that I'm starting to create stories that people can actually enjoy! Your criticisms of Enter Japes were on the money, he was/is overpowered for low-levels, I think I'm now getting the hang of making content level-appropriate, and there isn't much more to the story than stopping a new "Hellions" group from getting a foothold in Paragon. I was really pleased to hear you gave In The Darkness Creeping 5 stars because I had tried to use all I'd learned from previous feedback to make this an entertaining story, a zombie apocalypse with a twist. You guys also picked up on the 'this is what goes on when other 'bigger' stuff is being stopped by the Freedom Phalanx' vibe I was trying to impart. Nice pronunciation of Xlophrokos by the way!

Now I'll continue working on my next creation and we'll see where that goes, thanks again!

Without laying out a build that's made with sets that will stack the same kinds of set bonuses, as well as enough set bonuses, you're not going to get a lot. It's the difference between getting TO-sized bonuses and DO- or even SO- or more-sized bonuses overall. I see people say that they don't notice much of a difference when they slot their low-level characters with TOs, but their character greatly improves once they start slotting higher-tier enhancements. Outside the terms of mocking the guy who said you weren't really a Brute, I don't really think it's fair to try and be sarcastic when you say you're 'playing with power' now.

If you do a little IO slotting, you can do so in order to improve multiple aspects of a power more efficiently than you could with SOs or standard IOs, or to get some of the larger bonuses offered by the few enhancements that offer bonuses such as +Regeneration, +Recovery, or KB Protection, or just to take advantage of some of the procedural bonuses like Chance for * Damage or Chance for Heal, etc.

On the other hand, your team leader was a dope for automatically assuming you couldn't smash stuff. As many people and even the developers have said, the game isn't balanced around the strongest of IO builds, or even the weakest, but around a LVL 50 SO build or perhaps somewhere a little lower. It's hard to fake competence in this game, even with big numbers.
Ahh, so I'm at the "TO or DO stage" of IO slotting is what you're saying? And that I haven't planned things out for maximum overlap of bonuses on weaknesses so I wouldn't notice maximum effect. If I'm reading it right that's what you mean. Fair enough. I guess I'm just not the sort of player who likes to spend time doing that.

"On the other hand, your team leader was a dope for automatically assuming you couldn't smash stuff."

    Dang straight.
  13. Neat! I particularly liked the last one. So succinct.
  14. Just led a Lvl 50 AE run with the above toon, we did just grand. Was it down to the IO's? I doubt it, but several people were commenting about their lack of IO's. We slaughtered +3's and I garnered 5 million Inf in the process. Mixed and matched, no IO's, fully-slotted, whatever your preference, if you're having fun, you're doing it right.

I was playing on my much loved (and a bit scuffed) namesake toon, The Killbot 5000, about a month ago. I joined a PUG, and the team leader starts mentioning that we need a Brute, several times. In case they missed it I point out that I'm a Brute, they reply that, "No disrespect, but I mean one that's been IO'd."

Well that just took the biscuit, I decided that maybe my Level 50 Brute did need some IO's, hadn't needed to until then, but maybe this was a reason to dabble in them. So over the last few weeks I've done a little IO set building/buying and below is the result:

The Killbot 5000 with shiny new IO Set Bonuses.

Then the question has to be asked after all this, do I notice a difference now that I'm playing with power? Short answer: Nope.

So, you can have toons at level 50, they can have no IO's or set bonuses and you'll still have fun and be able to handle most challenges the game throws at you. The only appreciable difference with what I have is having Devastation: Chance to Hold in Mu Mastery, that kinda adds something tangible. A visible power, with a noticeable effect, now that's something I can buy into, a 0.1234234% increase to X just doesn't do it for me otherwise.

Heheh, yeah. Statesman's shortsightedness on this issue is obviously a meta-game reason to have the RWZ with it's crashed ship, but it certainly paints him as a bit of an idiot.

Statesman: "Now I'll just fly right up there and Super-smash that thing right outta the sky! That'll teach 'em!"

    Statesman: "Excellent."

    Like you said.

There's no way that Paragon Studios couldn't know that the playerbase sees plenty of room for improvement in the Ratings system. That doesn't mean you're going to mention a products short-comings in the media.

  19. Cool article, Joe's a nice guy dedicated to his creative work. I agree that getting things rated and your arc seen is still hard work, but I'll keep plugging away at it for a couple of reasons. I'd like to make a creative arc that people enjoy, and with it kinda pay-back Joe and the team for all their hard work on it.

One day one of my arcs won't suck! I swear! They're in my sig if anyone wants to try and the best is probably, "In The Darkness Creeping".

  22. Yeah, pretty sure critters can follow you into buildings anywhere they can get to, it's not a foregone conclusion they will, but they have a chance to. I'm surprised they got past all the Police drones around Portal Corp, but don't rely on an unlocked door (or elevator) stopping your enemies from following you!

Neat, got it! I didn't really go overboard examining the Real Numbers when they were added, but this is one I can use. Thanks!
