  1. Thanks for the info on the Blazing Aura; that makes complete sense. I guess I won't totally write off scrappers for farming if their secondary is wp/inv/sd then.
  2. I wasn't sure where to post this. I figured I wouldn't cry in the scrapper forum but rather praise brutes in the brute forum.

Caveat: This post is geared at solo large group killing and/or farming and not single target damage.

I have a level 50 ss/fire brute and thought it would be fun to try a spines/fire scrapper and REALLY do some damage now that they've adjusted the levels of brutes. Right? well...

I leveled a spines/fire to 50 and noticed all along the way that mobs weren't clumping up like they do with my tanks and my brutes. I wanted devastation PBAOE style and just wasn't getting it. I couldn't figure it out until I realized that it was the inherent taunt built into all of tanks' and brutes' powers that made them hug me like I need them to for maximum damage output. On my scrapper (and the -rech on spines probably didn't help) the mobs would exhaust their melee attacks and then run off a distance out of my AE toggles, use their ranged attacks, and then come back into melee range. This made it take much longer than my brute would take to kill the same group of mobs.

Unless I'm mistaken, and taunt isn't what is keeping them clumped on me, then I think this is the decisive reason why brutes will continue to outshine scrappers for large group killing. I found it downright annoying... annoying enough to stop playing any scrapper that I'd like to use for the purpose of large group killing.

Is there something I can do with a scrapper that would change this? I spent a lot of time on getting my spines/fire ready to go to town on some Praetorians only to have them run all around me while my damage auras hit 3 of the 10.

What do you all think? Do you not find it a problem? Do you not experience the same problem? Am I blowing it out of proportion?
