  1. Yup, you'll get a full-sized version. I'm not sure everyone else will want a 5mb JPG, though. (That's a conservative estimate, I think, given that it's 1.7mb in black and white!)
  2. So, funny story about this one: I'm working on it, and am asked to add a locket on Valk's neck by Jute. Sure thing, no prob! Design's up to me, so I sit down and spend, oh... fifteen, twenty minutes working on the locket. It's got a little flower and pattern, and a rune on it.

So, I finish. Then I zoom out and you can't see a damned thing on it!

    Duh, Foo. Duh.

Anyway, here's the close up, for those that are interested!
  3. Anything you have that you can see should be easier to draw. Having trouble with feet and hands? Pose 'em and draw! Having trouble with faces? Oh... hmm. Get a mirror?

  5. Next commission up is for the lovely Rowr and Valkarye! Here's the inks: Beware of open windows!

Also, you open my eyes to the possible market for superhero Playgirl...

You know, I haven't seen anyone make it a *moral* argument.

Mind you, the fact that knowing people find it annoying makes you want to do it more makes doing it, in your case, at the very least a selfish, disruptive act, and at most a moral one (if you believe being maliciously selfish to be immoral).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ya, kinda dug myself a hole there.

After re reading it, I'm not sure what I was saying either. Reading about how people get so annoyed with other people's attitudes annoyes me.

Which makes a me a hypothetical son of a woman who was not married to the man which is the biological father (why is that ok and not the B word?).

But at least im honest about my hypocrisy.

All kidding aside, it baffles me every time I see someone refer to their character as their "toon"... Maybe it's because I'm a P&P RPGer and not a video gamer, but where in the heck did that originate? I think it sounds pretty silly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I loath the usage of the word toon. I wonder do those who use that term refer to comic book characters as comic book toons? Perhaps they only read Disney comics.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That's an interesting question. Or "videogame toons"? As in "Mario is a classic videogame toon".

Sadly, I bet any number of people chime in now to say that do so, or will start to, now.

    Darn wordhumpers.

*not directed at anyone in paticular*

I use the word toon. I like the word toon. Why? Cause I feel it fits with CoH. I use it to differentiate between CoH characters and PnP characters and other MMO characters. It has nothing to do with beig lazy. I just like it. I could not care less what other people use to describe their creations. I like my creations and am proud of them. Even if they are deli products, it leads to some very entertaining RP moments. (Important Rule: No devouring of team members, regardless of how hungry the battle made you)

Ironicly, much of the argument AGAINST useing the word toon just makes me want to use it more. People getting offended at inconsiquential habbits of another is rather funny. Much like the steriotypical old lady getting offended about someone shaveing their head (or doing anything else "not proper").

You can't have moral justification for an amoral act. Attempting to do so is moot. And makes me laugh

From now on, I'm going to use the term wordhumper to refer to you. It's not derogatory, so you can't object. It means, "Person who loves words".

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can object. It is impolite in most conversations to call someone by other then their normal name. No one calls me that so you are trying to rename me. That is rude and can be argued even derogatory.

In comparison the word "Toon" to the general public is considered not derogatory and not rude. It is a word commonly used even by the die hard fans of the very group who it applies to.

Yeah, pretty petty really. I can't believe someone posted that they think 'you' aren't the type of person they want to group with if you refer to your game character as 'toon'. LOL Petty petty petty.

    Words change and evolve.

While some here may claim their characters are not toons, that makes as much sense as claiming that no one "Dials a Number" on their phone. Yes technically and technologically it may be true. But "Dial a Number" is a term used within our society that everyone understands.

Note for those of you to young to remember, Telephones use to have a weird round disks on top with 10 holes in it. A dial. You would rotate the disk with your finger to call someone. NO I AM NOT MAKEING THIS UP! STOP LAUGHING AT ME!

Just Google it and you will see millions of hits including usage by Major Telco Companies. They of all people know that there phones no longer our dialed.

Toon is the same way. It has evolved to include the online characters. While some can stand here and shout "NO IT DOESN'T INCLUDE MINE!" It does. Those around you know exactly what I mean when I say "I saw your toon." The word has evolved to include all the toons in this game weather you like it or not, and yelling that a toon is actually defined as "blah, blah, blah" is about as useful as trying to redefine "Dialing a Number" as "blah blah blah". The public doesn't care and will continue to use the term.

Toon is not being used as a derogatory term and in most cases the user of the term has no way of knowing that a few people might view it as such. But if you wish to try to fight the common usage, complain about those who use it, refuse to team with those who do and try to be an "English Nazi" feel free. It's your time but frankly I feel there's a lot more in life to enjoy, and a lot better things to judge people on.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to imply that you do get "ruffled" over the use of the word. That was meant as a general comment and in regards to some of the harsher posts on the subject.
You are correct all words do have power and meaning, my point being that over one's self they only have as much as that person gives them.
When I first heard(read but it just feels wierd typing that) it used in game I was like "Hunh?" and shrugged it off. Then after a few more times I started paying attention to how it was used. The user wasn't trying to be derogatory with it; it just happened to be how they referred to their ingame character. Now how can I hold that against them when the base word isn't even a derogatory word? Is it to some degree a stretch of meanings? Yes, I would say so, but the association is there.
As to being inaccurate, peurile(hehe had to look that one up) and diminutive: Inaccurate? Yes, its not dead on. Peurile? I'll say it does have a childish sound to it and connotations, but then again so does playing video games; to the vast majority of the populace I might think. Diminutive? Only if the speaker intends it that way or if the listener chooses to take it as such.
Well reached my max post on a subject. I'll agree to disagree.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I think we're in agreement, for the most part.

Just to clarify: The diminutive part comes from it having puerile connotations. Like, "This is my toon!" vs. "This is my character!" To me, it just sounds like, "baba" vs. "bottle" or something like that.

Also, I don't think the word is inherently derogatory; it's just towards the low end of the scale. "Toons" are two-dimensional caricatures. "Characters" are (or should be) fleshed out and compelling.

It's not an insult, but it undervalues the subject, intentionally or not, solely in my head or not. Make sense?
