  1. This is a potential build for a fire/thermal controller. I'm hoping to have some soloing capability, but not necessarily looking to demolish every AV in sight.

I'm really just looking for some feedback, and would appreciate what the experts have to offer.

  2. That's the thing. I can't lower the shader settings, or anything else lower than it already is. I have everything pared back to the bare minimum to try to conserve memory, and it's not working. The game still crashes from the memory leak every 20-25 minutes.

And all my bothering Intel doesn't seem to help anything. So, I'm forced to stop spending money on something I can't use effectively.

Also, I do appreciate the reply, even though I'm being a bit snippy about the issue.
  3. ...You know, if someone had asked whether or not I'd ever have to do one of these, I would have laughed. I never thought I'd be in a position where I'd have to deactivate my account, unless I was too broke to pay for it. Unfortunately, this memory leak issue is proving to be my waterloo.

My wife and I are avid "City of" players, landing just between "casual" and "hardcore". She plays on her Dell Inspiron 1525, with its integrated Intel graphics card, and up until fairly recently (i.e. the release of Ultra Mode), we were regular players.

With the release of Ultra Mode, playing for any length of time isn't working anymore, since the memory leak is crashing the game every 20 minutes.

You (the dev team) know it's there. Players have told you, and it's been there since the day i17 dropped.

I kept the accounts active as a show of good faith, hoping that the issue could be fixed in short order. It appears that I was mistaken.

And so, with all the melodrama inherent to one of these posts, it's time for me to shut down the accounts until it gets fixed.

I love City of Heroes. I've been playing as much as I could afford to since just before Issue 5, and I want to continue here, but I can't do that if I can't play the game for more than 20 minutes at a time. If this issue gets fixed (and I intend to keep an eye on it), then I will come back gladly, but until it does, I'm left without any other option.

To any devs that might read this: I'm sorry to have to do one of these, and if I can help you narrow down the problem in any way, please let me know. Aside from having my email address on file, I intend to lurk the forums hoping to hear a solution.

To everyone else, I'm sorry you had to read yet another "FIX IT OR I QUIT" post. I hate them as much as you do.
  4. Hi, everyone. Long time listener, first time caller.

So, since about I-14 or so, my wife and I have been playing City of Heroes together, with me on my desktop machine (where everything, including Ultra Mode, works flawlessly), and her on her laptop (Dell Inspiron 1525, which is the reason why we're here).

With the release of Issue 17, she's been running into a massive memory leak issue. The game typically crashes every 20-30 minutes at the most. In looking at the memory usage as the game is running, it's almost certainly a memory leak issue.

Another interesting quirk is that character portraits (contacts, her own info, or anything else) is simply black, as well as all of the costume portraits for her costume slots.

While I am aware of the Intel Graphics memory leak issue (and the fact that the dev team is aware of it), I figured that another perspective might not hurt things, especially since it's keeping her from playing entirely.

Without further ado, I'll start with the HijackThis and COH Helper logs.
