  1. Yes there is. This is a kind of simulation, so real world analogies do fit. If it were pong things would be different.
  2. Icarus

Your wings have melted on that one. Players that don't know how to play get you killed. Then, you have to deal with debt because there is no one to help you cheat your way out of it. Think first speak second.
  3. That's great! Were you standing at the station when you leveled? If so you may have been cheating.
  4. Its a bit dim to say that this is just a game and whatnot. This is the game site and the game boards! We are supposed to be taking it seriously here. Pling will not ruin lives! But it is important here because this is the game site.
For instance the qulity of bananas are important at the market but not here. There I will complain about bananas here I will not. Meanwhile, the guy at the market does not even know that I like this game.
Things count depending on the situation.
  5. I have not said one negative thing about the developers. However, I assume that things in a game this complex take time to change. Also, they may not be aware that it is making some of their customers annoyed that it is going on. This is a very successful game from what I understand. People get into it ,books are sold about how to create characters and so forth, well who needs any of that stuff if one is being PLed. There is a lot of money being lost. PLed people may keep their account for a shorter period of time for instance.
If I try for 50 it will take months and months, so I will have spend hundreds of dollars on the game. If a person reaches 50 in a few weeks then they have spent a lot less. So, it would benefit the developers to fix this problem from a financial stand point. Also the longer people are on the more they will use related materials and websites.
I like the developers for making the game! So, I think that they should be successful. If everyone PLed to 50 by the end of the month the game would probably be over.
That is Kantian philosophy in action! Just ask yourself what if everyone was doing it.
  6. I do not need to overcome being annoyed a cheaters. I feel like I'm in a 1960's psychotherapy group! It is not self righteous to point out what is really happening. There is something odd about going from 16-32 in a few days. According to the design of the game and general rules that seems strange. Why not have an opion button where you can just stand there and collect points. Lets cut out the middle man!
I think that many people here have PLed and are ashamed then they rationalize that the annoyed are somehow wrong or more unethical for complaining.
I'm glad you don't have super powers in real life! Imagine that!

That is not what I'm talking about. If you are helping the team then that's great. To see what I'm talking about check out the train station in brick and watch the people that just stand there. Sometimes you can see them leveling.

Also, I did not know that you can buy leveled characters on E-Bay. These accounts should be canceled.

If you are sceptical the cheating aspect of PLing just imagine that you are talking to the team that developed the game. Its a great game and I'm sure that they put months into developing the content, so do you think that they would like people just bypass it all and not really play the game that they developed?
I enjoy the struggle of they game and helping other people. Its fun, but I kind of feel like its a waste of time for me to struggle through the levels when others don't have to. I almost quit the other day because I was annoyed by the dozens of people that I observed doing it. After getting about 24K in debt that night I felt a bit defined by their easy ride.
Should I feel this way? No. However, I am a person that enjoys getting in to the game and using strategy to win, so I simply do feel this way.
My feelings or anyone else's are not important because objectively Pling is a cheat or exploit (whatever!) hands down.
  8. Cheating is not a "pace" a pace is following the variations for the game's rules.
  9. Well said Chase Arcanum! That's a major factor in what I'm talking about. The solution would be a time out for an idle player.
  10. Well I'm a Tank and that would not be possible for my character. Additionally, I would like to know your technique. Does it involve the use of drugs and devices so that you can eat and use the bathroom at your computer?
  11. The kind of Pling I hate is when people are just standing there. Its fine and even fun to have an sk or be sked. That's part of the game.
One day I encountered someone that was using other people's accounts to level them because they gave him money to do so. There's not much you can do about that but I bet the developers could do something about characters standing still and earning hundreds of thousands of points.
  12. Well, I'm posting on the game boards regarding an issue I have with the game. I have not called the police or congress.
Almost all game have people that watch and regulate them. I also pay to play, so my opinion is just as valid as people that enjoy cheating. If you think about it some of you aren't saying that its not cheating. Rather, you are just defending cheating. I would like to have someone explain how it is not cheating or a fair part of the game. I don't mean just because people want to do it, but how is it a fair part of the game. How did the designers intend for PLing to be used?

Also, if the X-men just sat around at the school it would be a boring comic.
  13. The fact is that there are many group activities in the game and a lot of interaction, so it is not a simple game that you play by yourself.
Perhaps the analogy was not the best but I think that watching people cheat at the same activity that you are performing is annoying. Also, I don't believe that payment for the game entitles people to cheat. I'm sure that the developers didn't design a cheat system into the game. I would like to know what they think.
  14. What if I found a hack for the game and just logged in at 50? Would that be right? I don't think that it would. Like I said the spirit of the game is that we are all playing together. So, its not true that everyone is playing individually. Also, if I can observe your behavior you are part of my world. This is why people can't have sex in public. Sure they are doing it together, but I have to watch. Frankly, I don't want to.
  15. Being ethically oppossed to cheating is not a from of jealousy. After working hard I do not like to see people stealing the same thing that I earned. The characters in the game define each other.
  16. Indeed it affects my enjoyment of the game and that is why I bought and continue to play the game. In a sense, it is a game community, as we are all playing it. If you are working on a job and your coworkers were stealing money it may not affect your ability to do your job or even your paycheck, but it would probably make you feel uncomfortable. Also, I am ethically opposed to cheating. If you are playing a game by yourself so what but when you are playing with others its different.
PLing should be stopped. Another reason is that it is not in line with the superhero world. What superhero gets power and glory by doing nothing?
  17. I think that PLing is a kind of bug in the game. How is it right that a person can just stand there at the train station and level. I know a guy that went from 16 to 32 in four days by PLing. This is not right.
A feature should be added that cuts ex if the character is not moving for a certain time period. I believe that PLing is a form of cheating as it takes advantage of a game feature in a way that was not meant to be.
I have had two amusing encounters with people PLing. The first one was when I encountered some people doing it (they were sitting on the Brick station) and they denied that they were. Then, the one guy suddenly levels! He didn't know what to say! The second was after a week of working to get to 29 I finally made it! I then went to the trainer in Brick and two people leveled while just standing there. It appeared that they weren't even using their character and where afk.
Frankly, this took a little out of the game for me. What is the meaning of planning and spending months on a character and facing death and debt when others don't have to.
Remember games are supposed to have some code of conduct and instant advancement is not usually one of them.
