  1. I am just having troubles on picking the powers that I really want, because if I get them all, i won't be able to focus as well as on what I want to do. I need to figure out what attacks I need to cut in order for me to fit everything in the build. Purely for using, i find using Lift is a hella fun to fling guys way up in the air, espically if you can fling 'em up really high =p

What are the caps with the holds and slows and what not?

Like, should i have both Crushing Field and Distortion Field? Both slow down the enemy, but one is hugly more effective at doing it, but the other last a lot longer.

And I was thinking, will just how much AoE slowly that I have, do I really need Gravity Distortion? I really like how it's just like, they don't move, at all, ever, when under it's effect. I am sure you coudl get it to recharge fast enough that you could do it on a lot of critters, but then you'd be using up a lot of end either way, while you oculd use the two AoE ones from above. Sure, they will get some attacks in, but not a ton =p

God, so many options! This is much worse than trying to build a TCG deck, lol.
  2. Ok! First off, I have never, ever made a true build for CoH yet. Ya' know, picking the perfect amount of slots for all your powers, picking the right powers and when, etc, etc.

I have found that I really, really like the powers of both of these sets and they are so fun to use, especially making mobs unable to do anything layer after layer of effects on them, aha.

But basically, I am just getting overwhelmed with the character process when it is coming down to it all. I want all of my primary and secondary powers 'cause I think they are all useful, but obviously, if I do that, I won't have many other powers to choose from to help boost the controllers icky defenses and resistances.

I plan on making a character who focus's on his controlling abilities and buffing powers, but a little more in the buffs. After that, survivability. Damage is nice, but I plan to do mostly stuff in teams, so I'll just put stuff at -1 and use my Singularity if I have to solo a mission.

But the main thing i need help on is when to choose the powers and when to the slots in them. That comes with knowing what enhancements i should use and what not as well. Except for some basic frankenslotting and stuff like Hasten recharge and End Mod in Stamina, i don't know where to begin even.

I am not asking for someone to just copy and paste a build here or anything, just tips and suggestions on what i should do. But if you want to, go right ahead, just try to explain some of the choice and what not so I am not a newb at this stuff anymore =)
  3. Virtue is a more RP focus server, correct?
And if so, I assume that is more for out of combat stuff, not typing away in character while Malta drains your end? =p
  4. I recently got back into the game, about two and a half months now, after a very long and unwanted break from the game. I got myself VIP as found myself loving the game just like I did then, even after giving all of the other superhero MMO's a try.

I started up on my old server, Victory, and I have found it to be pretty empty most of the time. To make matters worse, I can normally only play during off-peak hours, so finding people team up with makes things really hard, especially when I want to play a controller.

This server has a lot of forum posts, and it's the first one to boot, so I figured it would be a good place to start to look for info, as I didn't see anything in the stickies about it.

If you don't want to read all of that, what is the most populated server so people who play during off peak hours can team up somewhat easily?

    Emp/Rad

Well, I also wanted to be able to do some damage for the team too, so that is why I also went with Defender. That, and it's RP, so of course a doctor is going to burn people with radiation =p

I didn't want a full blown build, just some tips, but I'll definitely look into it. Then when I can afford some better stuff, I'll upgrade with a respect. But thank you nonetheless, something like that is what I am looking for when I play 'im.

    Stone/Stone Tank

When I played last, there were only SO and HO for high level characters to choose from, for all this frankenslotting and IO sets is a bit daughting. Sorta like, what are the sets that when they drop, I better squeeze my claws around them and either sell them or use on a critical build and such. Way way back when slotting six recharge enhancements into your pets is what you wanted to do to get tons of em everwhere.

I don't want to copy anyone, I just want tips on what people think of certain skills. Like, if Throw Boulder can be made to go so fast that you can spam it really fast, then I can see it having more use than just chuck and wait a while.

I'd use that hero maker, but I have no idea where to begin on how to properly select the powers and when to give slots and when not to and what not.

And there is a difference between making a super duper awesome build with the billion in influence influence invested over me who has just a bit over 150m.

    Stone/Stone Tank

I don't want to copy someones super duper special build, i just want some input on some the powers and possible ways to slot em, especially stuff that has several ways to do it, when to go for an IO or franken it or just the stuff that not everyone might not useand such.

    Emp/Rad

(Note that last time I played was end of 2005)
For my second character, I have made a doctor themed character who is a Empathy/Radiation defender. I'd have gone with a controller, but I thought having the best of the best for healing would be most suitable for a doctor character.

I know since I want to be a doctor, I am going to get every Empanty power, that, and none of them are really bad to begin with. But when it comes to secondary, I am not sure what I should choose, except that I don't think I really that cone attack all that much.

Going to with Super Jump, Super Speed and that celerity +stealth so I don't have to also get the Stealth power. These new inventions are pretty cool, they had only just released the last time I played heavily. Kinda cool that one can basically replace a power, and not waste end either by having two toggles! Recall Friend too, because sometimes things backfire and you have to rez. (Though good teams you rarely have to, but things happen)

But anyways, are there any recommendations people can make when it comes to powers and slotting? There are just so many options now, before there were just SO and HO's, eh heh!

    Stone/Stone Tank

I liked throwing the piece of rock, but I wished it was bigger :3

It also seemed to miss a ton and never knocked anything back ever, even after I added some SO's to it. Perhaps since I only used it for two levels that I didn't like, so I couldn't' really outfit it properly.

I really liked getting the damage boost and acc with Build up, but at these higher levels, I am finding that I am rarely out of Granite Armor where super slow recharge powers like Hasten can recharge effectively.

It doesn't help that most people don't seem to be able to work in a team very well. Had a controller blame me for getting him dead, but he'd be the one standing in melee non stop while I had 20 foes all held to me at once. But then he'd distract one and pull it away from me, so I wasn't to hold it.

I love playing in teams, as I find doing stuff solo so dang boring! That, and it seems it would be expensive to have two well equipped builds, as I know I want to eventually make a second build that can do Solo and Low level stuff.

Would anyone be able to suggest a basic Stone/Stone Tank with focus on Granite Armor that I could go off of?

    Stone/Stone Tank

I have not played CoH since the end of 2005. A LOT has changed since then, so I decided to make a new character instead of reviving one of my old ones. I really love how the trams are one line now, and that the Finesse Pool is free!

So, for my first character, I went with a Stone/Stone tank because Stone Armor was so awesome before, eh heh.

But basically, since I have only just gotten back into the game, I don't have any of the influence to afford those really spiffy enhancements from sets, so I have been just using what I find and what not.

But basically, I am more interested on the powers I should be using, moreso being that I am a Granite Armor tank. I do know though, that I have not liked Build Up or Hurl Boulder, so I don't plan on using either for a final build.

I am more focused on holding aggro and teleporting head first into a mob with Mud Pots on while getting everyhitng to look at me while the team blows 'em all up. When in close quarters, I use the KB attacks to heard the enemies into walls and corners.

In the eventually of getting the awesome IO stuff, what are first few things I am going to want to slot up as best as I can?

Sorry for the pseudo randomness in this, but this way late for me, and i don't want to forget to post about it!
