Love the story so far, Blood, but that hippie's gonna die.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm afraid Hippies are protected by the PETA as an endangered species. That is... endangered by everyone but the PETA :P -
Things are looking very interesting to say the least.
By the way, if any of the people in the more 'established' threads can help me... I'd like to go start in Whitmoore, but I feel a little overwhelmed at the immensity. Any PM-ed tips would be welcome.
Back on topic... Keep it up. I love Dystopian storiesGot a few of my own lying around somewhere...
-
Well, Techsupport is available if you want to.
To prevent spammage, just gimme a PM-call and I'll write up something useful. -
((I'm still willing to go along.))
-
At my best guess, this leaves everyone in the following positions.
Xyfen: Somewhere far off, wondering who or what just talked to him.
Blood Wolffe and Heat Storm: Somewhere halfway between Xyfen and The Warehouse, having an argument.
Techsupport and Permafreeze: Still at the warehouse, in the aftermath of the fight and probably wondering why everyone else is ignoring them.
Captain Neem: Trying to find Xyfen.
Zero Mark: Standing somewhere en-route between The Warehouse and the general direction of Independance Port.
Ice Bloc: Heading towards Independance Port, having been told the amulet is apparently there...
I have no idea /who/ has the thing now, and I think that is left best to the OP to pose. I would like to request, even if this is not my RP, that everyone please stop posting poses for other people's characters. It's extremely confusing to follow for everyone, specially when you put their characters somewhere else in a blink.
We now return you to our regular programming. -
((OK, instead of making an RP pose, I'll try and recap what has gone before...))
Azuria, in need of heroic assistance but no heroes around to help her at this moment, has summoned a frost creature from another plane of existance; Ice Bloc.
She charged the icy behemoth to retrieve an amulet for her from some Hellions, and the literal tank walked off in a straight line to its target. This caused all due attention..
The first ones to discover the summoned hero was a group of Hellions in the street, which drew the attention of Blood Wolffe. Unfortunately Blood Wolffe was being ignored for the time being, but others were paying attention too. First of all the media, and on his television set Joseph "Techsupport" Wills.
For a moment, the clamor also attracted the attention of someone named TicToc, but more persistant were the calls that went out to the local law enforcement, who went to the scene quickly.
Finally, Blood Wolffe and Ice Bloc reached the location where the Hellions were keeping the amulet, but not alone, the police was busy setting off the area and demanded the pair of vigilantes and the criminals to come out with their hands up. Bloc showed no signs of hearing this, but Wolffe definately didn't like it, and retalliated against the police. This, of course, drew additional attention from Xyfen and Captain Neem... This was beginning to look like a very crowded battle.
Elsewhere in the city, Permafreeze detected the leftover trail of Ice Bloc...
Meanwhile, back at the scene of the mass confusion, another hero has entered the scene; Heat Storm. He knew of Blood Wolffe's reputation, and he also mistook Ice Bloc for another manifestation of the thought to be defeated Winter Lord. This had all the makings of an ugly confrontation. Unfortunately, Crey agents decided to appear on the scene. Ice Bloc was still trying to retrieve his objective, though, inside the building.
Heat Storm gave up his new chase momentarily to settle an old private score with these fellows, while the unfortunate Blood Wolffe was trying to stave off a tranquiliser dart with all his will.
This all on TV, what a sight. But what is a hero when they don't feel the need to do what they can to do the right thing? Joe might not have his customary power armor handy, but he still had the things he made before he had the armor, and he set out to find them while the mayhem progressed. Inside the building, for instance, Ice Bloc encountered a Ruin Mage and a Behemoth Overlord. They, too, were after the amulet and the Mage dangled their prize in front of the summoned iceman.
Of course, when a second hero comes onto the scene with the Circle, the battle breaks out immediately...
Outside, Heat Storm was dragging Blood Wolffe along while blasting his way through the Crey. Making good time, the hero called in by the cops entered onto the chaos of the CoT Versus Ice Bloc. He ditched Wolffe and joined into the fray immediately.
Permafreeze, having followed the rather obvious trail, now came onto the recently defeated operatives. She made her way over to Heat Storm and the unconcious Wolffe, her presense having a rather fortunate effect there as the sudden chill woke the wolfish hero up with a start. Unfortunately, by now, apparently the Behemoth Overlord had made off with the amulet while the Ruin Mage distracted everyone else with his mighty Earthquakes. Wolffe immediately sett off in pursuit.
Finally arriving, after putting on a makeshift disguise and his Oooooold prototype stuff, is Techsupport. Of course he's none too thrilled to see a Behemoth Overlord in the streets. Heat Storm, in the mean time, decided it better to continue the thing he came here for to do; Stop Ice Bloc.
Now, things started to really heat up. While Captain Neem was going toe-to-toe with the Ruin Mage, Techsupport strained the limits of his makeshift gear and helped out Wolffe with the Behemoth, unleashing a Ball Lightning at it. ((At this moment, I have to say Xyfen is being very confusing, but let's keep to it that he managed to stumble onto the amulet.))
At that point the police got a message from Azuria back at city hall. She called them after she got word of all the mayhem and confusion to tell them that Ice Bloc was with her, and doing a mission he is charged with. Another unfortunate miscommunication made Heat Storm think that the person calling out was neither Azuria, nor Ice Bloc a hero. Ice Bloc, however, was still mostly oblivious to the confusion but had realised that his amulet was now gone. Shouting out his demands to be told where it was, only strengthened Heat Storms believe that he was not on the "Good fight".
Tech, in the mean time, continued to pelt the Behemoth Overlord with his electrical blasts from one side, while Blood Wolffe attacked it from another. Captain Neem, having escaped the attentions of the Ruin Mage, discovered Xyfen holding the object of everyones apparent desire. Of course, with Hellions, Mages, Demons and Crey wandering around, Xyfen had no way to make sure that Neem was on his side either. Though, instead of going for the conflict, Xyfen peacefully defused the confrontation by going invisible.
((Again, Xyfen is a little confusing, but I'll put it down the best I can...))
A strange voice startled the invisible hero, having taken refuge a little while off from the massive battle... Or perhaps he ran into the wrong direction. Somewhere, or somehow, yet another party has gotten involved in this, and they appeared to be quite happy that Ice Bloc, and thus Azuria, did not have the pendant back yet. Heat Storm, however, was doing his very best to find Xyfen back and claim the amulet for himself.
Meanwhile, it appeared that Blood Wolffe had finally taken down the Behemoth Overlord, without even noticing the help he had received ((Sigh, the fate of a Defender..(joke))). He saw Heat Storm take off and hurried after him...
Somewhere else in the city, another hero was doing his heroic duty when suddenly a strange sight wandered by.
Heat Storm and Blood Wolffe were still engaged with one another, though. Neither willing to back off like two goats on a narrow bridge... -
Judging by the noise coming from /inside/ the building, Techsupport's glad he's not inthere. Judging by the fact that he's still standing, he's also glad that noone mistook him for a wannabe Freak.
With his initial charge spent, he begins to power up the gloves he's wearing again, cursing this entire mess under his breath...
"I wish *zzrt* that *zrrt* I didn't pick *zrrt* today to get my *zrrt* Armor cleaned..." At the end, he clasps both his hands together pointed in the general direction of the Overlord, striking the fiend with a solid lightning bolt like blast. -
Techsupport looked down at his 'primitive' gloves and then nodded to himself "Well, it's showtime." he said determined.
Reaching back, he activates the powerswitch on the backpack and a hum begins to emanate from it. He steps out of his cover and into the streets while striking the backs of the gloves to gether like they were matches.
A thick-sounding 'zzzrt' is made every time he does this, and a little more of an electric charge builds around the metal monstrosities.
He counts off until he's pretty sure that he has decent power going and twists back with both hands cupping the air between. Electricity sparks between them, forming an artifical ball-lightning phenomenon. Just when it seems that the growing ball will touch with the gloves, shorting itself out, he hurls it towartds the Behemoth, giving a single quick shout in warning.

The only disappointment for me was that the AV didn't get in the 'construct' (not waiting to spoil too much!) at the end and it then animating and attacking the team! Maybe asking just a bit much though
I agree with a bunch of others here - best TF by far!

That's the last thing we need o.o It took us two tanks to keep his retinue busy while I was balancing on 0 endurance and fighting to keep my debuffs up and keep everyone alive.
It was the most intense Defending experience I ever had though -
"I must look like an idiot..." Tech muttered to himself, creeping along the streets and heading towards the general combat scene.
He had taken an old shirt, and wrapped it around his head with the neck-opening in front of his eyes, thus making sure he wouldn't be reckognised. An old army-dump flack-jacket has a rather bulky power-supply strapped to the back like a backpack, and thick wiring runs along his arms into the almost oversized gloves. "Ohwell, good thing I never started listening to my mom about throwing old stuff out."
Of course, once he managed to get to the scene, he just stands there a moment or two watching Blood Wolffe tousle with a Behemoth.
"Oh, this day is just getting better and better." he comments, if sarcasm was a weapon, he'd have outmatched any broadsword wielding hero by now. -
((Wow, lose net-access for a day or so and the thread EXPLODES))
Joe was just getting another drink when the sirens came blaring, both on his tv-screen as well as two blocks down the road. He returned to the set and peered at it.
"Whoa, that's practically the backyard..." he muttered, and then looked out the window.
"And me with my entire gear in the shop..." he sighed whistfully. Once again, he settled down in the comfortable chair to watch the goings on, before eventually throwing his snacks to the floor... "Dammit... I can't just sit here and watch."
Hurriedly, Joe looked to see if he couldn't locate his prototypes while the battle between good and evil raged on. -
((Gonna try something here, since the other thread basically died which I rp-ed a little in.))
For once, Joe wasn't out patrolling or combatting or being a generic figurehead for heroism. Today he had decided to take some of the day off since he dropped off his outfit with Serge to get some of the nastier remains of his last fight with Doctor V out.
Sitting in front of the TV, he flips the channels until he watches a newscast of a giant walking block of ice making a beeline through the city. He puts down the remote and hms "You have got to be joking me..." he mutters while settling down in his chair to watch.
((Not every hero is out 24/7, eh? ;D )) -

One I can't believe nobody's gotten yet is the Tech SO for Disorient(?) duration. It's a Holey Field generator. I'll leave you to supply your own rimshot.

HOLEY FIELD GENERATOR BATMAN!
As for the part on where the hospital name in Founders Falls comes in, the man was a founder of the modern medicine we know today, no?
I don't know if anyone put this connection in yet, though. On Striga, you get a set of shotgun shells, specifically designed to kill the Banished Panteon zombies with...
So, Shotgun + Dead Guys = BOOMSTICK -

Not sure if this was intentional or not, but during a story arc (think it was World Wide Red), I was asked to rescue a Dr. Hedia Lamarr. Now if anyoneone remembers the Mel Brooks movie "Blazing Saddles", I believe the part played by Harvey Corman was named Heddie Lamarr. Coincidence?
[/ QUOTE ]
The Blazing Saddles reference was in turn referring to Hedy Lamarr . Amazing woman.
Oh, and to another poster: since when is Three Mile Island in Pittsburgh? Closer to Harrisburg, PA, I suspect. =)
(Anybody else think a wikipedia devoted to these references would be the bee's knees?)

I'll comment, is 'WOW' an acceptable one? -
You forgot the bit where the fumes of XTC and E the Pumies and CoT are using will invariably find a way into your buddies brains and turn them all into drooling idiots who won't even remember they were supposed to click the rock simultaneously... or stay put... or use any higher brainfunction than needed to fall into the lava and die.
I've had some bad experiences with this one... does it show? -
Tech, having had sufficient medical training to have a disregard of most things except for an impending patient, kneels down next to Corvus and looks at the rapidly blood-staining cloth. He puts his fingers to his temples and rubs a little, "Oh boy... this is going to be a tricky one..."
He brings his left arm into view, opening a small panel in the large tech-filled gloves and adjusts a small slider to the uttermost right that it will go. "Ok, this is going to tingle..." he warns, not sure if he's talking to Corvus, or others.
'Joe' ((using his real name a moment for variety ;D)) gets to his feet and makes a small motion with his arms, triggering a set of pre-programmed conditions that activates his armours' cellular regenerator. A green glow starts from the vents on the metal suit, and then soon burst out in a wave of tingly radiation.
If it works, the device will stop the bleeding and cause the wound to heal over swiftly... It can not undo the bloodloss, though. Techsupport kneels back down next to Corvus and begins to inspect her for anything that he might've missed. -
Tech raises his left hand, index finger up as if he's about to interrupt people and start saying stupid things. His right fist is clenched, though, and a light crackle of electricity runs along the outside visibly.
However, he stops when his monocle-visor starts pouring out information to him. Faces of registered heroes scanned, and positive ID information fed back from Hero Corps. He ahhhs and then hmmms behind his facemask when other info starts pouring in.
"I was going to say a lot of stupid things..." he starts "But I think now is not the time. I need to see the wounded, I treat them."
With that, he clambers back over the equipment he was tossed over by the shockwave. -
Name: The D'Twenty
Boss: D'20 Gladiator (though only due to absence of our Great Leader.)
Lieutenant: D'02 Champion
Disclaimer: This is an RP Group, and we have rules for admission.
Summary:
After our leader tried to convert this fledgeling system to the glorious D20 gaming lisence, but decided not to for her own infallible reasons, a handfull of D'Twenty drones stayed behind.
We still operate towards our goal, though less publically so, biding our time and using the games own rules to become more powerful.
One day we will succeed, even if we have to convert this place one thug at a time...
Rules:
- We require you to have a working understanding of the D'Twenty, their background and reasoning. To do so we suggest you to go read The Gaming Guardians and plow through the archive and character-profiles.
Please do not create a character based on the main personas, these are mostly taken by the creator anyway and others are peoples' RP personas elsewhere and it will only create much confusion.
- We all have a similar colourscheme. This is all because standardisation is good! Similar appearance is good! Originality is irrelevant! Here is a small photo of our first three members. If you decide to join, but get the colours slightly off, I'm not above sidekicking you into Icons and paying the bill for a repaint
- We have a fixed origin. Technology. All D'Twenty are Technology based, we're robots after all. Any Archetype and combination of powers is welcome, and a suggestion is to pick a name that lightly hints to your powers. Gladiator and Champion are Scrappers, Assembler is an Empath Defender, Programmer is a Controller.. etc.
- We do ask you to name yourself "D'20 ......" With the apostrophe and all. No 'The' and we'll also skip on the extra title at 15 and 25. The idea is to stay as similar and generic possible ((Like all D20 lisence products...))
Boring rules aside (Sorry for that, but they have to be there), we're an RP supergroup. A bit irregular in connection times, but we try and group up together for gaming fun. Or just insert a member or two in another team of superheroes and try and convince them of our ways... whatever is fun.
The most important thing: Behave yourself, have fun, act IC and do not hestitate to send me a tell or email in either of my guises if you want more information.
"Originality is Irrelevant! Resistance is Feudal! Prepare for Licensing!" -
((Ok, after someone explained things to me, they're clearer now
))
Techsupport, after not noticing anyone in the area with him or the odd device, started poking at the console. Standing over it, he tries to make heads or tails of the mystic symbols and decides to just make an image capture for some folks at MAGI to have fun with. After the 'duty' is done, he looks at the holographic projector...
"This looks nice, maybe I ought to try and use that for myelf...." He muses, and then falls silent.
"Is someone there?" he calls out, certain he just heard voices and screams. Goosebumps form on his arms under the armoured sleeves of his suit, and he shakes his head to get rid of that disconcerting feeling he usually only gets near Spectres.
A brief glance is given to the underside of his left-hand gauntlet, battery-charges indicating on full, and underneath the mask he lets out a small, relieved sigh.
That is, a relieved sigh until a shockwave lifts him off of his feet, up over the console and with a metal CLANG against the back wall. Tech knocks his head against the surface and for a few moments he can only hear a ringing noise, seeing black spots bleed all over his vision. Doing the sensible thing, he stays down until the swimming feelings disappear before he gets to his feet, only to realise he's not alone anymore...
((This ought to be open enough to prevent further mixups, most of them on my end...)) -
((This looks interesting enough, and not too huge, to try and participate in. I hope it's ok, since I have a nice idea for a post.))*BONK BONK BONK*
*ZRRrrrrrT.. hisssss...*
There's a muffled swearing before an exclamation indiciating victory, and the 'iris-like' door slid open. For a moment, noone can be seen in the doorway, and then a white-haired figure stepped through. The red lens worn over his right eye blinked with activity, scanning surroundings, targetting anything that might be moving a moment before moving on to the next obect while the owner glanced around and focused on other things. The large, obviously technological gloves crackled with electrical energies before the man finally let his guard down... a little...
"Hmm," came his voice, a little distorted by the filtermask he wore over his mouth and nose, "Looks like I came here on time, at least, I think I did." He looks around again and takes a few more steps inside. "No Circle, no Column guards... Not even any freakshow." he chuckles a litle and rubs the back of his head "I'll have to tell Judith she has to hone her psychic skills a little, doesn't look like a 'Powerful and dread group is threathening to tear the fabric of reality.' to me."
The man 'dusted' off a bit of his dark-reddish armoured suit before putting his hands in his sides. "I have to agree that /that/ thing looks... odd." he finally continued his monologue and steps towards one of the active consoles to the side. "Might as well see what's going on here while I'm here."
When stepping around the strange, spheroid artefacts, more of the room is revealed to Techsupport, as well that those inside who had a blocked view of the door can now see the hero move about... -
People also seem to forget the plain old ~fun~ factor in Exemplaring in-game.
Ok, so I can buff my buddy up to my height and do a mission of mine, and then I can get back down to his, and do a level of his.
Instead of making his mission boring because I can out-damage his Tanker inside that door.
Or... I might just want to have a little boost in Influence for those shiny, neat Enhancements. If you don't have any debt, you may not be getting XP, but you get bonus influence. Way to actually manage and get all your slots up to par before you outlevel them /all/ again. -
