I just got this as well and while I like the two tone blend idea in theory, I do wish you had the option of turning it off. It is weird that it defaults to black, and the UI for changing the colors is so tiny, at least on my computer. It is difficult to see the colors let alone click on them.
I try not to complain too much on here, I feel the devs get dog piled on WAY too much for things that are ridiculous, and out of their control. But being able to turn this off would be GREAT! -
Um holy cow! I messed around with recipes while my husband was making diner last night night. I was thinking there is no way people throw away inf like that, that would be crazy. Shows what I know, I went from 500,000 on one of my richest characters to close to 2 mil in less than an hour and I wasn't really working it that hard. So I just wanted to thank you guys for pointing me in the right direction! At this point I can't see myself ever getting into the really complex market stuff out there, but its nice to know I wont have to worry about getting stuff for my characters. It will make playing a whole lot more fun on the weekends!

Thanks guys I haven't actually done anything on the market yet, so this should be interesting and informative for me... It always just looked confusing thanks for the link SerialBeggar I will be cheking that out ASAP!

Quote:I need to go to bed! I use my Tab key for target nearest and my ~ key for target next so I can cycle through who all the close bad guys are and decide who I am going to go for. Definitely get rid of the double key press for targeting! That is a pain.I've rebound the tilde key (~`) just above the Tab key to target nearest enemy on my default keybinds.
You might find this will help you or your wife since it puts my favorite 2 targeting methods handy, with no Shift/CTRL needed. Nearest is especially handy for melee chars. Although just double clicking powers often works great too.
My wife was frustrated at first, but has now been playing about 6 years
Sorry if I am posting too much on this I really feel for your wife and what she is going through. I am way too tired to be online right now so my self filter is not up to snuff. Hopefully I am at least giving you some helpful info. OK I am shutting up now and going to bed. Tell you wife I understand and she isn't alone. The first time we went into Razorfen Downs I fell off a bridge into a bunch of undead pigs, my husband had to jump down and save me (I was the squishie) then we were lost and we didn't know how to find our way back up (it was just the two of us) it took us 2 extra hours to find our way to where we had been. I know all too well. Tell her to hang in there it does get better, and way more fun! -
Quote:Hey guys. Got her to play again tonight. Made her a Fire/Rad corrupter to go with my StJ/WP brute. Adjusted her movement keys, mouse speed, and a few other things. Messed around town in the tutorial for a while so she could get used to targeting and killing. Finally got out to Atlas, where buying enhancements got her all confused for a while again again LOL. So, we did the first set of missions and got to level 3. She's already moving around a lot better. Still over running stuff, but much better than the other day.
We found that the brute kills stuff before her fire powers go off a lot, so I told her to keep tapping the power key, and it will select the next closest guy in her view to fire. She liked that a lot instead of clicking to select next guy then going back to hit key again.
Thanks again for all your help. Look for us on Freedom. Hockeytown and Tamales.
Tamales is sooo cute! I know people hate this, but you are having her use her keys to use her powers.... have you suggested she try using her mouse? I have a learning disability and can not use my keyboard for more than a couple of commands and with all of my alts there is no way I could keep track of what power did what if I did it with my keyboard... She seems to be having issues with key commands, and at least in the beginning it would be easier for her to push power buttons with her mouse vs remembering which key to hit. It could up the fun factor for her, keep her playing, and keep the frustration level at a point she can cope with. I don't know if this would work for her or not but for me it's the only way I can play. I move and target with my left hand... as I said it took some getting use to anyway and I use my mouse to chose my powers. Which are lined up in the order in which I tend to use them in my tray. My husband is baffled that this works for me, but as I said there is no way I could use my keyboard and keep the powers straight from character to character let alone from game to game. I just thought I would mention this to you as it could help your wife. I know most gamers would be horrified that this is how I play, and god help me if anyone on WOW ever found out LOL, but I personally would have given it all up in frustration with my rogue years ago if I wouldn't have been so stubborn and figured this out for myself.
I hope this helps her and the the two of you have many hours of fun playing COH together. My husband and I have more fun just stopping in the middle of a mission or anywhere really and dancing (our characters) because a song we are listing to while we play just hits us like that, and then we will bust up laughing... We will be married 14 years this Oct. Gaming together is great! -
I ....and I have no 50s yet so that would be why. I am a weekend player and I have too many alts.... I have shame

My first game was Guild Wars and that seemed hard at first, then my poor husband got me to play WOW. The first character I tried was a rogue and I could not figure out how to run her around someone and spin her the right way to stab someone in the back! I finally remapped my keys and trained my left hand how to move my characters around. It was awful for about two weeks, so I feel your wife's pain and so does my husband. The cussing (by me) was epic. I have very little patience and get frustrated easily... That was many years ago and I play MMOs more than he does now. It's most fun with him though.
My first Character in COH was a MM zombies/Dark I like a learning curve I guess.
I would suggest having her make a couple of characters and let her see which one she likes the best. Me I like WP/Mace tanks. They are tough so you don't die easily. Rise to the Challenge is fantastic; maces are great because when someone is stunned they aren't damaging you: and when you are a tank you can use the f key to automaticly follow your target. Tab for your target (I changed it in options so it is one key) hit f and you auto run right to them, when they are "dead" do it for the next guy. Very helpful in a hectic environment or for someone that has issues controlling their character... I know not a lot of people would recommend a tank, but I play everything and even though they are all fun, I personally find my tanks less stressful. Maybe I am weird but I HATE dying, with my squishier characters when a mob comes running at me, I am stressing out. With my fav WP tank and you have a group around you that healing is going to kick in and you are going to be just fine. (within reason of course)
This is just my two cents, and forgive any grammatical errors. It is 6:30ish Sunday morning and I have been up all night doing holiday quests with my way too many alts you would think I would know better at my age but I never seem to learn a damn thing.... sigh. The holiday stuff gets me every time! And every time I have more alts!
