I'm trying to get as much damage as possible to try to match that of a blaster, but with most of the perks of being a Dominator (IE: better and more fun). However, I am leveling a plant/fire as well, and spent a little bit of time putting together a similar build as the one above using plant. What do you mean by Proc'd & Reactive Creepers?

In a +4/+8 farm, with a less than 15 second cooldown and a 60 second duration, Seeds of Confusion pushes the amount of damage pretty far, and seems a better choice than Flashfire. Creepers might be close to Bonfire (if the Embrace is timed right), and it would seem to tear through solo farms.

The single target dps choices really boils down to having no imps and a lack of hot feet. So Fire/ should be better than Plant/, but Plant/ has it's other uses (and I could wiggle around some things to make Plant/ a hovering domiblaster type, instead of Fire/s need to be in melee for top end. It's tough to decide, hence why I'm leveling them both.

Off paper, plant seems kind of weak, minus the confusion. Is there something I'm missing? Or is it pretty much Seeds of Confusion that keeps the primary afloat?
  2. I'm going for maximum damage. This is a godly expensive build, but it has Embrace of Fire up 66% of the time, and Flashfire lasts for 36 seconds with a 25 second cooldown. The damage is as high as I could shoot for.

Flashfire -> Fire Cages -> Bonfire -> Rain of Fire -> Fireball
Single target is pretty much Fire Blast -> Blaze -> Incinerate -> Fire Blast -> Blaze -> etc.

+4/+8 should be doable, as should AoE or ST domiblaster action in groups. It's probably capable of more, but the damage should be top notch/insane. Any suggestions or experience/help would be nice.

*Note: No accolades or Incarnates since I'm not there yet (or have ever been, really). Would probably go for the damage Alpha. Endurance issues, if many, would be carrying around inspirations to fix, or turn off hot feet.

  3. I returned to the game a few weeks ago and I've been exploring all the new options (I last played at the start of City of Villains for a month or two). My first major character was a stalker, but they didn't seem (my friend was playing a SS/Elec Brute, so I felt like I was worthless and contributed nothing) like they got much love. My second character was a dominator, and I played about 6 different dominators before I stopped playing.

So now that I am back, and had a few failed characters, I figured it was time to return to being a Dominator. I'm having much, much difficulty, however, in figuring out what to play. It's down to Grav/ Fire/and Mind/, with /fiery assault. My main idea is to play pretty much like a blaster, and having more *dps* is important to the build. Unless I'm missing much, minus fast casting time, Fire/ doesn't seem to have more than Grav/ or Mind/, but it does have a quick, especially with global recharge, stun, which would be useful for solo play and possible farming. I know Fire/ has more damage potential, but minus Hot Feet, it seems like most of Fire/ wouldn't make it into the rotation (atleast the ST rotation), and I hear the Imps die often in content that matters. While it sounds like I've ruled it out, I am still open to listening to the strengths of Fire/.

Grav/ seems to have a high damage in Lift, with a fast cast time and high damage, it appears to be the best damage per animation ability in a Dom primary. For a Dom blaster idea, it seems like a good set. With a pet that won't die, that adds to damage where others falter, I'd assume. Wormhole is also an ability that sounds really fun, but the knockback at the end of the ability seems to really hurt in a team situation, and that takes out one of two hard CCs the set has. Does the immoblize stop the Wormhole knockback effect?

And then Mind/. Of the six I had before, Mind/ made up three of them. The lack of pet hurts the damage idea to the build, but the multiple confuses help out in AoE situations, but what about ST? I'm pretty sure if I confuse something it won't start hitting itself if no one else is around. With fire as a secondary, though, Mind/Fire is a glorified God, from what I've read.

I've done a lot of research and know a lot about the strengths, so I guess the real quest here is to get opinions and experiences with the different builds. And is Grav/ really that bad? I would love to go Grav/, but it seems like a real lack of AoE CC could really hurt in the long run, or does it? I don't hear much about Grav/ minus "stay away, Mind/ rocks!". But the gimmick for my character can fit either of the three primaries, so I'm not too sold on either, hence my struggle.

I'm not necessarily interested in having to solo everything, but I do like to do stuff by myself often, so I need a build that is very solo friendly, preferably while beating on 0/4 or 0/8. Can any of those get up to +4/8 on a farm solo?

PS: The Inherent Domination used to give bonus damage, if I recall. Is that gone? I didn't notice it on my low, low level Doms recently, but maybe I was missing something or it kicks in higher level than I was? Or was it taken out due to the ease of Perma-Dom? (or am I imagining it ever existed at all?)
  4. Sweet. Does SR scale well? It'd be nice if it's good-great with little influence investment, but also amazing once I get money and IOs stacked up.
  5. Hey, there. I'm relatively new to the game and I'm looking for a cheap AT/build to play that is easy and powerful. I'd like to be able to push as much solo content as possible. I don't mind investing influence in a character, I just don't have any, and my current character feels like he's lacking without really decked out purples (Fire/Storm controller, which I love, I just feel bad going into missions on normal difficulty, especially with my endurance issues).

So, here's the question - Is there a cheap AT/build that I can level and play that I can use to crush my enemies and play on higher difficulties, and maybe solo most of the story arcs I can complete through solo content? I am interested and alright with Brute, Scrapper, Dominator, Controller, Corruptor, and Blaster (although it appears to be hard to get a cheap one of these). I know about the CEBR way, but I don't think that's my cup of tea (atleast the farming of the AE with it, if it ends up being a good solo build that requires little outside of it's AE farm, that'd be fine).

I really enjoy this game, but I have little time with work, and my current schedule conflicts with most peak game hours, so it's hard to find groups for the small times I can pop on. Hence my desire for a cheaper, powerful character to go through, tear some things up, and maybe get some money at some point for my other characters that just require a bit more expensive IOs.

    I appreciate the assistance.
