  1. No issues in Praetoria, just First Ward. Stutter or lower frame rate I expect, not massive hdd swapping.

It only happens in First Ward and Atlas Park, and even on the lowest possible graphics settings. I usually try to run at these settings all around, but I tested on the lowest just to be sure.
  2. These are the only two maps that give me trouble. Heck I can turn everything on in any other map just fine, but Atlas Park and First Ward just cause my computer to grind to a halt.

Symptoms are pretty steady, and even going to the lowest settings cause them to happen. Any sort of rotation causes the client to halt and a massive amount of hdd swapping to take place. Usually it frees up after about three or four minutes and I get 5-10fps so long as I go in a straight line. The hdd swapping continues, and it'll hang again if I turn left or right.

    Any suggestions without changing hardware?

Seeing how he was intending on building $2,000 AMD box, we can probably assume there is money to burn here.

However in the sense of a 570 vs 580 it really comes down to what resolution and games you're intending to play. The 1.5GB 580, is going to be much more future proof than the 1.2GB 570, this is especially true if a person intends to play at 1920x1200 resolution or higher. We're already seeing games that are having issues with 1GB or less of memory (CoX is one of them) at high resolutions. That 15-20% boost is often the difference between play ability and frame stutter.

$2,000 is serious cash on a modern gaming PC, especially if you're going with a single GPU and AMD processors. The reality is that right now for a gaming PC is that Intel is vastly superior to AMD, and the i5 2500k is pretty much king of bang for your buck.

Based upon your criteria I'd look at something like this:

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...-ssd,3031.html

Save $100 and move down to a i5 2500k. Save another $425 and go down to a single 580.

Spend $50 and upgrade to a Bluray Optical Drive. Then put in your add-in cards, you'll be well under $2,000 and still have a beast of a machine.
  5. I've been working on this and this is the best I could do:

It is not a cheap build by any stretch of the imagination, but isn't as expensive as some. Figuring out slots was difficult on this, and in the end there was some loss of AE DPS. However you are capped for Ranged and AoE, which should be enough.

If you can stay out of melee, you're neigh unkillable and with the strong control elements that FF brings that shouldn't be hard. Even if mobs do somehow manage to close PFF should keep you safe long enough to regen some endurance or use Aid Self. I went with Psychic Mastery for the strong Psionic Defense elements for which FF is traditionally bad and occasionally bypass positional defenses.

There are some serious downsides here, the biggest one being endurance consumption, it's a hog and you're going to have to carry lots of blues to sustain yourself. Second big problem is that as a support character you're very strong, but solo you may have issues running at +2/x8 or higher due to just not having enough DPS to finish the fight. If you incarnate it gets better, but still has to deal with a lot of very expensive powers.
  6. Is taunt really needed here? Shouldn't your aggro be pretty much over the top between Parry and Shield Charge, or is it taken just to save a careless squishy? Or can I drop it and do something else there?

I'm a fly junkie, and I haven't really figured out how to put two different powers on auto-fire so I'm going to skip Hasten.

This is where I'm at now...

    BS/SD Brute

    Thanks for the tips.

I'm a little confused by the Positional vs Typed Defense. Do they stack?

For example if I have 15% Lethal Defense and 30% Melee Defense, would that mean I have a 45% Defense against a Lethal Melee attack?

After looking into what you get from Fighting, I think I'll swap it in. Swap Kick for Air Superiority, then remove Slice (since rotation won't need it) to add Tough, and Combat Jumping for Weave. I'll take Fly late for a real travel power over Afterburner.

Played around with some of these sets, and I think I get the gist of it now. Geeze a lot of math to make this work right. I've no idea if its even possible to achieve the amount of Influence in game to set this up.

Here is what I settled on:

It should be capped for Melee/Ranged/AoE which I think might be overkill with Parry. Endurance is in good shape with 3.76 recovery and only 1.11 usage with everything turned on.

If anything I think the build might be too optimized and not really playable until you get everything in order. Opinions?

    BS/SD Brute

I recently came back to the game after an extended hiatus and since I couldn't remember how to play my old characters I figured I'd start up a new one.

Really like the theme of a BS/SD Brute, so figured I'd give a shot at making it work. Since I don't see any guides or posts on BS/SD I understand it's probably not super amazing. Regardless I'm primarily looking to make it work.

Here is the build I am working on:

I slotted these with IOs since I'm not up to speed on Enhancement Sets.

I don't like Parry, while it seems good at low levels at high levels it looks like a DPS reduction, so I skipped it. Slash again wasn't needed for a high level rotation, so I skipped it. I took all of the SD powers since they're all good, and all have at least some benefit regardless of what you're doing.

I like to fly, so that was a given, plus the Hover has a defense bonus, and Air Superiority is additional crowd control especially at low level. Afterburner is for actual travel.

I took Hasten because it used to be a beast and still looks OK. I'm not sure if it's possible to make it permanent anymore, but I'm assuming someone has figured it out.

Combat Jumping was taken as the last power as I didn't have anything else to take there and it has a defensive bonus.

I went with Energy Mastery, which I understand isn't considered all that good. I liked the bonuses from Physical Perfection and Superior Conditioning since this is an End hungry build. Focused Accuracy was taken to save me from AccDebuffs, which I understand are pretty harsh with such slow, powerful, attacks.

Did I setup my slots correctly, or are there any suggestions to improve this. I would like to remain on the Blue side, and avoid any Darkness powers for theme reasons.
