    Static Team Idea

A late night team would be great for me personally, since I'm having to work til 11-12:30 EST, granted this also means I'd be late unless it's pushed back further...
  2. Lady: Sure, you're welcome to shoot me a forum message any time. There's not really a particular person who's running the show per se, so any of us would be able to answer any questions you have.

Hypo: I *should* be around Monday, most of it from the point I wake up. Feel free to drop me a line any time after 10 tonight or tomorrow @Deertayorkay

We're looking to expand it past five members, but we have five "core" members and it'd be nifty to get more times going and have it fit people's schedule and still have a team of five. My schedule is going to be constantly shifting for a while, not sure how long.
  3. Cleaver also told me that he's not going to be able to make it Sunday either. Not sure about Monday/Thursday, didn't really get much of a chance to ask.
  4. I've been scheduled for Sunday AND Tuesday this upcoming week.

However, if you guys want to get together, me and Summer might be able to meet on either Monday or Thursday (my days off) and RP/level to catch up.
  5. I think it's great that you are giving it away.

Personally, I've used buying the CoH expansions and the like with the mentality of "Oh, I get a free month and perks for only 20 dollars? That's $5 for forever perks!"
  6. A friendly reminder to anyone that wants to join me, this Friday (tomorrow) is going to be my first scheduled Ouroboros Flashback time. It's going to be at 3 EST, blue side. Come with any character you want to get badges, but I'm hoping to do a couple of 15-19 arcs and then go into the 20-24 arcs, which means we won't quite be doing Ouroboros for XP yet. However, bring your character that you want to do story lines with and we'll get to work on getting arc finished and Ouroboros badges!

As a further note, I'm still contemplating Saturday at 4 EST being Red side Ouroboros.

My contact info is @Deertayorkay so you can get a hold of me in game at the time. I'll be broadcasting starting up the team probably a bit before that in the Ouroboros broadcast and Virtue LFG Alpha channel. Anyone else when they join and have other channels they know of are welcome to advertise in them. I enjoy any team between 2 and 8 people. Soloing just tends to bore me, which is why I've started this.

AE! From what I have seen, it has ruined the game imho!

    [/ QUOTE ]

The implementation of AE was, IMO, poorly done. Anyone with half a brain *should* have seen the consequences of the initial implementation. Personally I was surprised they allowed full XP for player designed missions.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Firstly, I've ignored it for the most part, besides making my own missions that are actually story driven (which is what it was supposed to be for in the first place).

Secondly, that'd be penalizing the people who are using it for the right reasons if they lowered the XP. It is designed to give people more story to dabble with instead of people that have been here for 5 years doing the same arcs over and over.

I understand why they did it and enjoy making my own arcs, however, it's only bred it to be easier for people to abuse the game how the devs didn't want, farming. I dislike farming to start, so I've just ignored it. Yes, I realize there are people doing the arcs for story reasons and the like. I admire them for that. However, it's the greater number of farmers that make me not want to jump on a broadcasted AE team, especially in Atlas.

I thank those who are using it correctly (including myself though not many have tried my arc) and hope those who don't use it correctly are smashed by the GMs in a great horrible gory fashion. It'd be lovely to see. My suggestion might be those who have arcs that are reported as farms to maybe be restricted in their publish ability in AE. Just a thought, maybe a 3 strike and you can't publish for X amount of time rule.

I agree with this. After having done a fire/cold to 50 and a cold/dark to 50, the only thing I can really say I like abou tthe defender version better is that you get sleet at 26 vs 35 for corrs.

lvl 35 is a major PITA. All the other powers seem to come soon enough as a corr to not make much of a difference when playing the def version. Those 9 levels are definitely tangible though.

Benumb comes 10 levels later, but imo isn't a game changer like sleet.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The downside of sleet coming earlier for defenders is that your 3rd ST blast in your secondary comes significantly later as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Depends on which you find most important.
  9. I'm not really that big into pvp, but I'm not willing to toss out the idea.

Also, I usually try Triumph Watch 2.1 each time I get on, to no avail on getting myself on a team.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
While the powers are fun, my heart is still in Storm. After shielding and slowing, my Cold def has nothing to protect herself but blasts. Storm lets me defend myself and the other squishies with Gale and of course Hurricane. Cold has no "get away from me" power.

    [/ QUOTE ]
There's a reason why my Ice Dom is Energy Blast *winks*
  11. Well, after considering the lack of me doing red side stuff and the seemingly lack of interest for the blue side thus far, I'm willing to toss in my hat for Saturday at 4pm EST doing a Red side Ouroboros force.

I'm probably going to be playing my level 26 Plant/Psi Dominator, however, that's not official yet. I'm still planning on showing up Friday at 3pm EST to do Blue side, and may just alternate back and forth on days I have off and which side I do. However, since I'm currently stuck on overnights Friday and Saturday, this allows me to have the actual evening to be able to do stuff even though I don't have the day off.

Also a note, if we do, for some reason, have more than 8 people total, we can always have two teams running things. However, I'm not sure how many are actually interested in this since there's only been three people who have expressed any sort of interest. Two being global friends of mine and then Nadya.
  12. To me, Blaster/Scrapper damage versus Controller/Tanker/Defender damage comes to only one point.

Blaster/Scrapper does more damage but has less defense/control than Controller/Tanker/Defender. Thus faster battles, but higher chance of death in a short amount of time. Take into account downtime with rest on the mobs you nearly wipe on or when you do wipe running back to the mission, etc.

Controller/Tanker/Defender has higher defense/control but less damage, which means the battles take longer, but if you have a tactical eye and a working knowledge of your powers, you will be a lot safer than Blaster/Scrappers. Take into account that you deal less damage, but you don't have to worry about dying as much as you do with the other two ATs.

It really depends on your play style and what you want out of your characters. Personally, when I play my Storm/Dark or Fire/Storm, I just love to see the endless runs of -1s, -2s, -3s, -8s, etc. I also like to have them on teams, which means I can AoE and cone 5-15+ enemies with a series of small numbers. Makes me smile every time I get a bit group of enemies with a whole lot of red numbers running over their heads. Sure, they aren't large numbers, but they not only add up, but they are debuffing the enemies while it does the damage. I call that two birds, one stone.
  13. I may be willing to run it red side, however, I don't have a character I feel comfortable with enough to do it. My money on Red side is no where near the amount I have on blue side, so I'm having enhancing problems atm on all of my villains. Blue side, if I wanted to buy any enhancement in the game, I'm fairly certain I could. Not sure how much I'd have afterwards, but I could at least buy that one.
  14. As far as your slotting goes, you don't need to have a full set of something. Look at the bonuses from the set that you'd like to have and look at what the enhancements you are plugging into your powers do.

I doubt on your Epic Power Armor that you'll need Recharge, since it's a toggle and since mez no longer take off helpful toggles - like your armor - you'll turn it on in the beginning and you'll be set.

On the same vein, you can also slot enhancements that give you what you are wanting. If you want your Oil Slick Arrow to come up more, while doing other things, throw in a Slow/Rech and End/Rech from the slow sets or any other set it might take. Damage, if plausible, might be a good thing to look into. When you don't really care about the set bonuses and just the several X/X or X/X/X, etc. instead of the set bonuses, this is called frakenslotting. So instead of, in your Howl, of having the End Redux IO, toss in a Detonation Dmg/Acc/End or Dmg/End/Range IO instead, giving more bonus to your damage and either accuracy or range while still lowering your endurance.

Also a note on Set bonuses, you can use (except purples and certain enhancements) a set multiple times. If you like the bonuses from Devastation more than Thunderstrike, for instance, then place the Devastation IOs in several powers instead of sharing the wealth of different sets. You can either shoot for set bonuses, or sets that are less expensive if you're on a budget. You can have only 5 of the same number of bonus. Which means you can have 5 +10% Regen, the 6th won't effect you, however you can have 5 +10% Regen and a +6% Regen and you'll get all that Regen bonus.

Just some Enhancing food for thought.
  15. Well, after thinking about AE and how it annoys me so, I found a nice, healthy alternative to the AE farm! It's this little thing called Ouroboros that was released in i11. So, I was thinking, why not use it to our advantage?

As such, I'm proposing the current plan: This Friday and/or Saturday, starting in the early afternoon (2-4 EST starting) we get together and start doing Ouroboros missions! Also, I'll know my schedule for next week by Thursday-ish and can plan for more times then!

What do you get from Ouroboros arcs:

-Completion of arcs to have a star next to all of the story lines offered there.

-Grants you the chance to start up Task Forces that would otherwise be locked.

-Allows you to do Badge Missions (A one mission arc that'll give you a badge for just completing it).

-Ouroboros specific badges (for accomplishing certain challenges and just completing flashbacks).

    -A good source of non-TF/Trial salvage/recipe drops that aren't level 50.

-A way to get Experience/Influence/Prestige while doing all the above.

I have 4 level 50s, and currently my badge hunter basically only has the 1-14 while all the rest of my characters do not have any of the challenge badges. As such, I'll always have a character I can play to get challenges out of stuff. I'd love to team and thus would love to do Ouroboros less as a solo-oriented thing for people to do.

Let's have the first one be this Friday the 19th at 3 EST. If there is more than 8 people interested, we can always create two teams to do this.
  16. Plus side of this is I have no intention of making my character all about Lust, regardless of what I end up playing (unless it is lust, but not really that interested in it). Love stories or the like are much different from straight up ERP, as such I'm not planning on it being just a one sin group.
  17. Color me interested. Feel free to poke me with the information; however, I'm probably going to be closing at my work for a while, which means I'll be working from about 4pm to 1am EST (I live Central) 5 nights a week and am already apart of a weekly RP group, assuming we can figure out a time that works with me now working during the evening.

    Bad PUGS

I enjoy leading radio pugs. 9 times out of 10 the team doesn't have a death except in rare circumstances.

I dunno what it is about me and leading, but I can get a group of 8 with the above statistic going in about 5-10 minutes. Then again, to speed, I'm not biased against who I select, anyone with a Looking for Any (within -2 to +1) I send them a tell asking, then I start at my level, -1, and then depending on my mood -2 or +1 (I dislike doing +1 if possible because I do Tier 4 diff, meaning they are white on the minions of lower level mobs. However, I do make it clear the level and the difficulty so they know what they are getting into. I always broadcast in the zone, so I invite those who send me a tell even if they need a SK.

When I join groups, sometimes they are shaky, but I often get a "We're doing 5 times better since you've arrived." Naturally, since I'm not there before I arrive, I can neither confirm nor deny that. I consider it an at least mediocre group if no one dies (regardless of how close people get) and the enemies are dead (besides freak accidents to which happen every so often). Everything else scales from there.
  19. For me personally, I'm currently closing a lot at my job. Which means that I'll get home somewhere between 11pm to 1am EST. I usually stay up til around 4 or 5am EST, so if there's a SG that has several people on at that time, it'd be peachy!
  20. StormyDarkness

    Bad PUGS

I'm with Spazz, I dislike farming in general. As such, I wouldn't of been interested in the first place. However, I've gotten ticked where it's become more of a "what power set are you?" in tells to join a team. I don't tend to play the normal power sets that everyone direly wants. Force Fields, Trick Arrow, and my most populated Storm Summoning is what I play.

They (for one reason or the other) get picked last for their day on the dodgeball court. I'm uncertain really the reason of this, due to the fact that I, knowing how to play the power sets, can do a great job with them. Sure, I have an Empath, and usually ties with my Mind/FF for TFs when I offer all my characters. It seems that people have become picky as to not only the AT (to a very small degree I understand), but power sets as well?

AE farms have turned into Empathy/Kinetics only asked for. While on Task Forces, it's Radiation Emission/Kinetics with a hint of Empathy for flair. There are other power sets out there. If you have a helpful criticism, I'm down for listening to it. If you have a tactical idea I've not thought of for my powers, I'm really interested in listening. However, asking for certain things for a farm, to which the devs have already said is not only not the point of the game, but also definitely not the point of AE, I find to be silly. I'll take good players (which you can have good unexperienced players, to whom I love dearly actually) and not holding onto false thing of other power sets over ones you've had little experience or not seen a good one in action.

Sure, it's easy to run into bad players of power sets. I've come to find Fire Tankers to be a bit too squishy for my personal tastes, but I'll never reject a Fire Armor Tanker from my teams. Then again, I don't run AE farms either. Maybe there's something magical about AE farms that make you have to have a very particular team build. *shrugs* When I do AE, I'll do it for story lines other people have created, not for mad tickets/XP/etc. That wasn't what it was designed to do, and I'm planning on using it for it's intended purpose.

The one AE farm I was on (for 1 mission) stole 3 levels off my Ice/Energy Defender's life, to which I can never get back. I've remade a few characters, and still enjoy them in the low level ranges along with the mid and high level ranges. Ouroboros is great, but it's hard to find a team to just do them, to which I enjoy teaming much more than having tons of 50s.

Maybe I'm an odd duck, then again from my Atlas Broadcast thread, I'm fairly certain I'm not alone.
  21. StormyDarkness

    Ding x 2

Congrats, I remember teaming with you on one of my characters. I believe it was Eldritch Green on the Anti-Matter arc a few days ago. Must say, I enjoyed teaming with Geography.
  22. Hey Triumph! Me and one of my fairly new Global friends have recently jumped onto your server from Virtue and I was wondering, are there any channels for LFG that we can get our hands on so we can easily find teams? Also, are there any SGs out there interested in having us.

    He's a Stone/Stone Tanker and I'm a Earth/Storm Controller.
  23. My major problem with the terminology of "healer" is, for at least new players who fill that role, they expect to only do that. I consider the terms being support, dps, and tanking. Do I expect a person saying they are a tanking person to sit there and take blows (or dodge them as the case may be), yes. Do I expect a person saying they are dps to be dealing quite a bit of damage, yes. Do I expect someone who is support to aid in their allies abilities to make them better, yes. However, a tank (brute, scrapper, stalker, whomever fits the bill) does have attacks, along with support people. Controller's primary does deal damage, Defender's secondary is a blast, why would one not use them? Each AT, in my opinion, has the potential to be able to do all three, and it's up to tactics and team make-up for this to be able to distinguish who actually does what.

My Fire/Storm Corruptor recently was on a team with 2 VEATs, 2 Dominators, and a Brute (Dark Armor). For pretty much the entire time up until one mission, the Brute was either near death or dead each spawn. When we got to one of the missions with Crey, not only was the Brute dying each mob, but several others died as well. After the first 4 mobs, I finally got annoyed with this and decided to make a tactical change, Tornado tanking. For the next several mobs, there wasn't a death on the team. Then the crab made the comment about Tornado ruining AoE potential, so I stopped upon making the comment that I was just trying to keep the Paragon Protector Elites busy so they didn't kill the Brute right away. They in turn made a comment about the dominators shutting them down. They did really well for the first 3-4 mobs, but then fell into the several people dying again. As such, I asked if I could start tornadoing again since it wasn't working. I did, and we began to not die. The brute, for whatever reason, couldn't keep on his feet, the dominators weren't holding them down. Yes, it was ruining the crab's AoE potential, but it was keeping the team alive.

My goals when I play are firstly to keep everyone alive, then complete our mission, then speed. If my Storm needs to use knock back to keep us alive, then so be it and allow me to keep the first two goals alive. If we have to rez and wait for the brute after each fight, not only is the Brute getting debt, but it's costing us about the same amount of time. Why not take the less debt for the same about of time approach?

Also, for when I run teams, I shoot for people equal level, then -1 to my level, +1 to my level, -2 to my level, and finally SK's. Exemplars are always welcome to my teams, and I'll either pair them with myself or the highest level character on the team. SK's usually go to me, then whomever can hold them (or offers SK first). I still shoot off a broadcast, but I usually only give the level (mine since it's 90% of the time my mission), the difficulty, and how many more we are looking for. I've not had many problems at all with this, but then again regardless of who I'm with, I tend to be a support character since that's what I enjoy playing.
  24. StormyDarkness

    Ding! Bwahahaha!

Congrats! I'm trying to figure out which of my characters to take to 50 next...
