We feel that players will take that chance on the random roll tables for that chance at the reward they want. There will always be that temptation to roll on the Pool C rewards 12 times instead of buying that one shiny IO. If a player doesn't get what they want, they can post these items on the markets. Also consider that before only players running Task Forces and Strike Forces were contributing Pool C and D items to the market, now even solo/casual players will be able to do so.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do you really expect that people will consistently and long-term gamble 8% of the price of a Pool C purchase for a ~1.1% chance of getting what they want? Do you really expect that the return on those who do make that gamble will consistently supply the market? Do you think that the market price ratios between "desirable" Pool Cs and "nondesirables" will be consistent with the gamble you're expecting players to take? What is the contingency if you're wrong on these counts?

Also, given that the "casual/solo player" is earning their reward at 40% (at best, probably much less) the rate of the TF/SF runner, do you really see them as being more willing to funnel those rewards into the market, as opposed to their own character development?

And a personal question: Since we're assured that all devs play the game just like us regular folks, what do you anticipate your personal strategy to be for playing with the merit system as it stands now? And how has that strategy worked for you so far in internal testing?

Q: Why do pool D random recipes cost more than pool C random? The price for a specific pool D is the same to a Pool C in most cases.

A: The cost of pool D rewards are higher due to the significantly higher likelihood of getting the desired enhancement with a single roll. Taskforce reward tables have substantially more items on them than Trial reward tables.

You are aware that by that logic, Task Force random drops should cost something like 2 Merits, not 20?

Random question: Was the Midnighter Club map mouseovers fixed? Because when you enter the room with three doors, you can't tell which door goes to which zone exit/entrance.

With Mercedes Sheldon being specifically in the Steel Canyon side, knowing which door without having to try them all would be a good thing to have fixed.

Standing in the doorway from the corridor, the rooms are clockwise in level range order: Steel Canyon to the left, Croatoa opposite, Founders' Falls to the right. Simple enough.
  4. I'm trying to silence the reverb loop that comes at the end of Dark Armor: Cloak of Darkness.

I've tried taking out the _loop files for miasma, obsidian, glow6, glow8 and forcefield5 with no success.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Edit: OK, search phailed me but I found an earlier reference to intel2_loop and power2_loop and that knocked it out for me.

The OP states that Stamina is optimally slotted with 1 common EndMod IO, 1 PS: EndMod and 1 PS: +End. Shouldn't that be 2 common EndMod IOs, 1 PS: EndMod and 1 PS: +End, for 49.8% Rec + 0.2 End/sec (long term average)?

    Likewise, a 4-slotted QR gives 59.7% Rec + 0.2 End/sec (average).

For Kheldian forms it's probably not optimal to devote 4 slots to Recovery but if you did you'd get +29.9% Rec + 0.2 End/sec (average).

Basic math note: The 0.2 End/sec average bonus comes from the proc having a 20% chance to give +10 End every 10 seconds, which averages to +10 End per 50 seconds = 0.2 End/sec.

Edit: I should have specified that the above examples all utilize lvl 50 IOs.

Also, just to address a common question that comes up when we do these exclusives, is why we put them out on MMORPG.com first. We do this to gain exposure for the game. We host articles such as this as an exclusive on a gaming website and then will host the same information here on our website shortly thereafter.

Also, better their bandwidth than yours for the initial rush.

While I like the idea of branching dialog, I think a natural dialog program (like Eliza) would be even cooler. It would be very RP immersive. You could actually interact with NPCs and trigger missions by asking the right questions or making the right statements.

Most of the load could be handled by the game client, with server hits only required to get the "secret" bits of dialog that you don't want players digging out of the PIGGs. Players would spend hours conversing with NPCs with minimal server load and think it was the coolest thing since the invention of oxygen.

If you wanted to get really clever, you could have the NPC relationship index get tweaked by how the PC interacts. Curse our your contacts, get the cold shoulder. Sweet-talk them, get preferred rates at the contact store.

Have to add my voice to the chorus saying this is not something I'm paying for. But, I stand by the notion that when you withhold money from a business, you should let them know why so they have a chance to earn it in the future...

First, of course, this package is way too light in content for $9.99, as many others have already noted.

Second, the cynical part of me is afraid that some office weasel is rubbing his hands and saying, "If we can get a few thousand suckers to shell out ten bucks for this pile of crap, imagine what we can charge for a real pack!"

Note: I should point out in my example above that it's an evil office weasel calling the new stuff a pile of crap, and only in the context of it being a $10 expansion pack. For myself, it seems nice enough on its artistic merits, just not $10 worth of nice.

I happily paid my $10 for the GvE upgrade to support the game and found the new material worth it. Can't do it here. Maybe $3-$5. I would happily pay for substantial goods or services, like extra server slots.

And for those who may wish me not to post this... well, if my opinion is worth no more than anyone else's, it's also worth no less.
