Quote:I was reading into your statement an attitude of "my time > your time" and "help me on my terms, not yours" which is something I face daily as a sysadmin and work hard to curb.I was not looking for answers from St0n3y in particular... Though my thanks is definitely directed to him, the questions were open. I figured they were questions that anybody who uses the program might be able to answer.
This is where the general populace of CoH players come to ask questions. Since many players use Mid's, it's logical to come here to ask questions.
I prefer to come to these forums, because this is where *most* of the knowledgeable CoH players congregate. I do not care to run around to a bunch of different sites to find answers, when I can come to the one place where I know most everyone will be.
Why belabor this point?
My apologies if that wasn't your intent.
May CoH players also use the Windows OS, yet there are more specialized places where official support can be obtained, like, say, from Microsoft.
I see your point, but as St0n3y implied: if you're looking for answers from the people in charge of Mid's, going to the official source is ideal. You'll get answers to your questions here as well. But personally, I prefer to consult the official sources with 2-3 more mouse clicks. -
Well, that certainly didn't go as planned.
Then again, Mod08 was 100% correct that this was a form of petition thread, even if it was done tongue-in-cheek as a humorous tip of the hat to one of Justice's more public displayer of disinterested generosity.
My apologies, and I hope this faux pas will not reflect negatively on you.
And I promise not to post anything after having less then 4 hours of sleep from now on. -
Quote:I think St0n3y is suggesting that it is much easier for him, as the "go to guy" for Mid's, to field usability question on his home turf, than it is here in the CoH forums. Are you guys seriously giving me grief for coming into the forums I prefer to frequent and asking a question?
seriously?
Mid's is still a third party tool, AFAIK, and in not a Paragon Studios / NC Soft product, so it makes sense to ask questions at the source to get answers from the people actually working on it. -
I like the speed of Google Chrome and have not yet seen any issues with the CoH website. It is installed on 6 PCs and laptops I use.
I've also kept IE8 on the PCs since, as Pyber said, it's not a recommended course of action due to its integration to Windows, and the reliance upon it that some third party app makers have.
The added bonus for Chrome (besides speed) is that it displays the last pages visited on a "home page" in a grid pattern, ready to satisfy your regular clicking needs in a hurry. -
Quote:Thanks for displaying the link! This is a great idea, My home server is Infinity. I'm not extremely active as of late, but I will assist on channels whenever I'm online. Will also add a link in my sig
Don't forget to register using the form at the MP website, or linked in the first post of this thread. -
Quote:Your link doesn't work. You used the wrong type of slash, which has a specific function in URL's. (Mouse over your link, or click it, and you'll see what it does.) It should be as follows:
http://citymentorproject.mmopost.com
P.S. Interesting idea. I'll have to think about which global channel to drop as I'm already on 10.
I see what the trouble is, since it was working fine on my end consistently.
Google Chrome was correcting it automatically.
I blame my wanting to write out the code by hand, and the constant use of UNCs at work and home.
Thx for pointing this out. -
Of course it is / can be.
Same goes for Mothers Day, Fathers Day, etc.
Nevertheless we set aside one day a year to specifically single out that activity, a time where everyone is "on the same page".
Sure this is a goofy idea, but hey, you never know.
It just might take. -
I'm still working hard on my submission(s) but thus far have only reached 89.4MPH.
Meanwhile, I did a little something to pass the time and clear my thoughts before coming back to tackling this: Official M.Y. CoH Day.
Have a great day. -
Good morn... (checks clock)...afternoon Justice!
I am one who frequents your boards simply based on my interest in the great community you have here. My curiosity was piqued when I noticed quite a few people join and then actively promote the Mentor Project coming from the Justice server, so I've been lurking and liking what I see. You guys rock.
And above and beyond the usual level of rocking stands one person who, for me, seems to embody the community spirit you have here.
As a fellow badger, he not only sympathized with my plight that one badge remained unattainable on my main character, one badge that - for lack of forethought and availability, was out of reach seemingly forever to me.
But then this player went and actually did something completely selfless about it:
Quote:Yes, thanks to Megumi_Yamato, I now have the V.I.P. badge on my badge collector! You have successfully applied the following serial code to NCsoft Master Account: XXXXXXXXX
Date : May 08 2010
Game : City of Heroes City of Villains
Account: stalemate
Serial : XAXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXH8
Type : DVD
Save this e-mail for your reference. You may need to provide the serial code to a customer service representative to obtain customer support.
We look forward to seeing YOU in the game!
The NCsoft Team
The simple fact that he had it available was extraordinary. But that he was willing to part with it simply to help out a fellow CoH player he barely knew speaks volumes about his character.
And a a small token of my appreciation, for his generosity in particular and for the server community that encourages such acts, I would like to declare today, the first Saturday in May, ...
OFFICIAL M.Y. CoH DAY
Whether it's reporting on the current status of all things CoH through Off The Cape quality podcasts or simply hanging out in game, Megumi has a knack for making you feel right away like you're one of his close buddies.
Thank you Megumi for the great work you do with Off the Cape, and your stellar representation of what it means to "pass it forward".
Therefore, I propose that from now on, in the City of Heroes, the first Saturday of the month of May be officially considered as "M.Y. CoH Day". A day where doing one random act of kindness for another player will be the norm.
It should be easy to remember since it will fall right before Mother's Day, another day that celebrates selfless giving.
And to start things off right, by celebrating the person who's actions inspired the celebration, I'd like to propose the following:
That those who support the idea that Megumi_Yamato's badge collector character be granted the Celebrant badge please "sign" this thread as a display of encouragement to the "powers that be" that Meg represents through his actions a cornerstone of Paragon City's values: altruism. A trait that should be celebrated.
Get it?
See what I did there?
..."celebrate"... OK, nevermind. I need another coffee.
Add your comments below if you support that the Celebrant badge be granted to Megumi_Yamato's character, and that this day each year be used to celebrate acts of generosity between CoH players.
PS - if you haven't listened the Off the Cape's 6th Anniversary retrospective podcast yet, you're doing yourself a disfavor. Take the time to listen to it all. Seriously. Go. Now. Well not now, but right after adding your approval in this thread. -
Quote:Excellent news!Hi there, I've just applied for starting this Project on Union.
Always thought that CoX needed something like this. We had Taxi-Bots for a long time on Union but I'm not sure if they are still there or not...
You're our first mentor on the EU servers, and hopefully not the last.
As for Taxi-Bots - if anyone can "take me to their leader", or point them to this project, I think that - having similar goals - both groups could benefit from evaluating joint opportunities. Feel free to PM me with any info in that regard.
Quote:I'm thinking we'll see an influx this summer as they kick the game up a notch. It's good that Stalemate & Co. are getting a leg up on this now, establishing roles and patterns, before GR makes it debut. It pays to be ready..."
Indeed, being there for new and returning players unfamiliar with the latest in Paragon City will be beneficial all around. -
Quote:Don't worry, not going to give any spoilers away, except for 2 things.
1) Tony Stark is Iron Man...
AW DAMMIT! Now there's no point going to see it in the theaters.
Quote:On a side note. The entire theature boo'ed through the entire preview of the next Twilight movie. That was worth the $14 ticket price alone.
OMG did the first movie suck.
It sucked in 2 different ways:
- So much
- So hard
Lame acting made it feel like an amateur afterschool special, the story was intriguing but character development is supposed to occur at the start of a story, not at the end.
It made me angry. Angrier than when someone forgets to properly screw the lid on the family-sized jar of mayo before slipping it back in the fridge and then I grab it from the back of the shelf by said lid .
New Moon was slightly more palatable and the lore was presented in a way that drew you into it better, but still - same actors, so same high school grade acting. I'll admit that now they looked more comfortable in their respective roles.
...
Weren't we talking about Iron Man 2?
The Twilight Tripe really gets me going... sry. -
Quote:Roster updated.Just noticed this. Admirable effort. Just submitted my info via the GoogDoc template, let me know the why's and wherefore's if you opt to use me.
Cheers, all. You're doing good work for new capes.

Thanks for joining Turgenev!
And anytime you need more playtesting done on your MA arcs, I'm available.
Quote:Wow the channel will be a bit Justice heavy lol, Welcome new mentor's!
I'm counting 10 mentors from Justice so far, a solid second place. -
Well, glad you found us and decided to join in.
BTW, you, my friend are...
Our 50th registered mentor!
Your name's already added to the listings, and your access to the website has been authorized. -
That's certainly an creative way to use the services.
But yeah, that could work too.
Same goes for players who just need a little assistance to get back into the flow of things after a prolonged absence from Paragon City. -
...80M off that toon...
...92M off that one...
Slow day. -

Quote:...We used to have "New Player Welcoming Night, then we started that whole Mentor Project thing, so we're a "newbie-friendly" server.
We have our own "unofficial" internet radio station in http://kjsr.net.
...
Again, I beg to differ. I know that "one member donating $600 to the Cat Tales Zoological Park in Mead, WA." very well, and he did it last November. I cannot vouch for the other parts of that wiki entry, though.
I'll second everything here. As a matter of fact, the concept of "meet-and-greet the new players" was originally introduced on Protector and quickly spread to our neighbors. IMHO, it's the best kind of endgame content a vet player could hope to have.
And I'll add add: You're too humble.
It was you (and JanLee int the past) who donated at least 600$ to help care for Cimarron. The wiki may be referring to the first 600$ donation though, and therefore would need to be modified to reflect the current state of affairs: that (based on available info) Protector has donated at least 2400$ for the care of this animal.
Cimarron was adopted back in 2005 initially from donations given by players whose names have been lost now.

My son will finally be available this Thursday if there's room for his elec/fire blaster. He would be on my account.
I could bring my wife's ice/emp if that's something you think would be interesting to have / need to fill a slot. I'll be the first to bow out if you need the slot for someone else tho - no hesitation. -
Awesome.
I'll go make sure the PV channel has this info.
