  1. I had this same problem with an Nvidia Geforce 580 on a computer running Windows 7/64 and resolved it by loading an older video driver -- 263.09. The two newer drivers I tried (285.62 and 296.10) crashed repeatedly. Since loading the old driver I've played for hours with out a single crash.
  2. I tried using the LFG queue for a Keyes trial last night and gave up after waiting some 20 minutes. It listed an average wait time of either 2 or 3 minutes.

I had this problem too when I upgraded to windows 7 x64. I fixed it by right-clicking the shortcut, and checking "Disable desktop composition" under the compatibility tab.

  4. An excellent tool for keeping your system clean is GMER - Rootkit Detector and Remover from http://www.gmer.net

I've used it to clean a rootkit from a system that was so infected, it wouldn't even let you install or run every a/v and spyware scanner I tried. GMER didn't even have to run a scan for it to find the rootkit, it was found automatically!

Right now I've been running the free Comodo antivirus and it seems to be doing its job of nagging me every time something wants to write to a suspicious directory. Not sure how beginner friendly it is, but I certainly feel protected from trojans modifying my system.

I would say that there is no one tool that will protect you. The layered approach, as mentioned previously, is the only way to go.
