"A New Home"
As he arrives home late for dinner, again, Corey pulls up his chair to the table could you pass the butter please? Corey asks. Where have you been? Jen questions him, and where did you get that nasty bruise on your forehead? Just then Coreys son, CJ, tells his mother about the A he got on his science project.
You see this has been going on for a while now. Six months ago Corey turned 30, and he began to change. Not the way you and I change, but a rather peculiar change. Not that he didnt know it was coming, he had known since he was a young teen.
From the day he was born, Corey was the apple of his parents eye. It wasnt only them that were taken by this special child, but everyone on the planet Daxus. Yes that is right, he was born many light years from our beloved planet. As he grew up he knew people treated him different, but he never knew why. That is until the day he turned 14 and his mother let him in on the secrets that had eluded him.
The elders, or leaders, of the planet Daxus had prophesized from the beginning of recorded time, about a savior who would be born to free the galaxies from despair. This chosen one would bring peace in a troubled time. The prophesy had said that this child born in the house of the Ral in the year 29832 (Earth date 1974), would gain unimaginable powers at the age of 30. The people of Daxus all respected Corey and his family, knowing that he would some day help them to defeat the terrible Rikti that have been threatening and invasion for some time now. However things did not go as our heros planet had expected.
Two years after he learned of his future gifts, Corey had been summoned by the elders to meet about a possible attack from the Rikti. They had remembered the prophesy and wanted to know what he was going to do about it. Corey was terrified, he was only 16 years old, and what could he do, especially without having any powers yet. He went home to discuss with his parents what to do. Unfortunately he never made it there. You see, the prophesy had said that he would bring peace to the people of all galaxies; the people of Daxus were not destined to make it to see that peace. The Rikti invasion had begun, and with his home world under devastating attack, Corey bravely made his journey to the alien mother ship. Not knowing what to do, he found a spot to collect his thoughts. What he saw from the port was horrifying to him. He saw his home and his fellow people destroyed in and instant. As he lay back and sobbed, he plotted.
Corey had decided to hide on board until the next landing and find a place to wait until his 30th birthday. Corey arrived on Earth and like he had planned he found a church that took him in. He attended school and went on to college. He became more and more in love with his new home, and vowed never to let what happened to Daxus, happen to earth. He became a high school history teacher, and met his lovely wife Jen. She does not know of his history before the church took him in, nor the prophesy that he will fulfill. The one person that does know is his first born son, Corey Jr., or CJ. Corey had been testing his new powers in the afternoons on the local bad guys. CJ had seen his father battling some ruthless thugs as he walked home from school one day. After Corey had talked to him, they decided it would be their little secret, but they would soon tell Jen.
So, Corey sits at the dinner table, with the help of his son, he again avoids the talk with his wife Jen. But the day will come when she will know, and the world will soon know, of this chosen one who now goes by the name Galactic Man.
