Can I just say that I have never experienced the "praise parades"? Where can I find these? Clearly, I need them in times of needed-ego-stroking. Just sayin' :P

*facepalm* GG. *ahem*
Anyway, why haven't they deleted this thread yet?! -
Quote:I think what Bayani was saying about collaboration is being PART of the creative process, vs. actually telling an artist, "Put his leg up by 2 more inches and the right arm above his head instead of over there..."My ideal customer is like that, the connotations of your wording aside. The people I really like to work with are the ones that are familiar with my work and are interested in seeing what I would do with the source material. Basically, they have enough interest and faith in my ability to permit me to explore the character and express what I see in it, as opposed to the orthodox way it's generally done.
If the client has very concrete ideas about what they want done, that's fine. But the more proscibed things become, the more commercial and academic the endeavor becomes. Maybe the artist works harder because they know the client is picky. Or maybe the client is more satisfied because the artist stays closer to their expressed expectations. Whether or not the art is actually better is a subjective appraisal. Personally, I really doubt it.
I know that when I have worked with Bayani, he usually has a "general" idea of what he wants done. I have other opinions and I have reasons backing them up. I share them, and sometimes he will agree with me, sometimes he won't (lately I have been able to BEND HIM TO MY WILL! MWAHAHA!). Anyway, but I involve him in the thinking/creative process.
When I sit down for ANY work, be it a comic page of pencilling, inking, coloring, or a commission piece of pencilling, inking, coloring, even though it is a JOB I maintain a sense of flow with it. Put it down when I need to, walk away when I need to, switch pages when I need to. I don't go through and draw "all the figures" or "one panel at a time" even, it just depends on how I am going to tackle the job.
With Bayani, I know he likes to be involved in that decision making of "how to flow with the job, what direction I'm gonna take it", and generally I think most clients like that. I will offer about 2-3 ideas of what I want to do, offering very small thumbnail sketches, they will pick one, I'll do a more detailed sketch, but it's still rough, they point out any changes, adjustments (added elements, detail stuff they want), and then I polish it up on an 11 x 17 board.
But that may be the comic industry rubbing off on me. That's how I function with editors. LOL. -
*Rezzes thread*
Okay I had no where else to put this XD Hahaha
Anyway, a fabulous friend of mine out here in LaLa Land did the music (composed, wrote lyrics, etc) for this video. Its audio is NSFW so if you're going to watch it at work, put headsets in XD trust me. Visuals are not bad.
I wanted to share it cause I think it's freaking hilarious and I think you will too hahahaNot to mention, how awesome can it NOT be when they have Scott Baio?
WRONG HOLE -
Quote:What? :S
I have an idea. I'll render up whatever vehicle you want so long as you keep working out scandalous shots and we'll both pretend their realAnd if that doesn't work, maybe I can threadjack this back on track and see if that doesn't help get some more pretties to look at.
EDIT: Someone brought it to my attention that they think you are referring to the photos on my DeviantArt by photographer Nathan Lemon. I'm not sure if you are insinuating that they are fake or whatever, but ummm...wtf? LOL -
Note: I take criticisms on my work. As an artist you will always have detractors. It's one of the first things I was taught and it's still something that my teachers tell me every day.
I pride myself in my ability to take negative comments and it's one of the reasons that my teachers have told me I'm a good student in that I do not sit there and argue "bad art."
However, with that said, to the discussion of weight of opinion...I'm going to take Dick Giordano's criticisms, Jim Lee's criticisms much more seriously than someone off the street (especially if they make no distinction between a commercial artist and an Artist)
My only objection to what went on in my little thread was that it was unsolicited for a post that was, in my opinion, pretty benign. It was an ad, nothing more. Yet, it devolved into a discussion on someone's take on the difference between an artist is (commercial artist) and an Artist. I'm the former. Not the latter. I do this for a living. I charge what I will.
"I can't afford a Rolls Royce...doesn't mean I'm going to write them a letter telling them that their prices are ridiculous. I just don't buy the car." While my art may not be Rolls Royce, the meaning still applies.
However, with that said, this is the interwebs. I'm never on these boards cause I don't really play the game anymore.
Eddy-Swan (here and on DA) is one of the most open-artists I've met ON the internet in that when he asks for criticisms, he takes them well and NOT ONLY that, but he will actually apply a lot of the critiques. (Random lovin' on Eddy <3) -
I don't think the world can really handle the singular Sorah. XD I'm surprised I haven't been burned at the stake yet, to be perfectly honest.
"A WITCH! A WITCH!" Or in my case....
"A *****! A *****!" hahaha gg. -
-
Are you just padding your post count before they delete my thread, Rei? LOL!
-
LOL Well, firstly, I don't wanna say I am Rolls Royce quality XD hahahaha I'm not an arrogant POS! However, I thought it was hilarious how he said that to me, the meaning still applies.
I can draw a Rolls Royce. But Rei why would you want one? :S

Quote:Hahahahahahaha. Fortunately, I didn't spend any money watching that. Although I want those hours given back to me.I just watched that movie (well, the first half anyways) mostly as kindling for my nerd rage.
I feel like someone somewhere owes me an apology.

While I am not going to get into anything in specific, I appreciate the kind words from those who shared.
As for the advertisement, I figure given the potentiality of flame-war thread-jacking, I'm going to request to delete the thread. It's just not worth it. I've been getting plenty of inquiries from DeviantArt, but I wanted to show some love to the community that started my career. It's all good
As for the debate of value and the like...I do this for a living. Comics book artists are commercial artists first and foremost. And we have a pricetag. Simple as that. I do not consider myself a "Jim Lee" or a "Marc Silvestri" or an "Adi Granov," I'm still being trained. I am a professional, but I've got loads of room to grow.
However, my issue is this...(and I will quote one of my mentors):
"I can't afford a Rolls Royce...doesn't mean I'm going to write them a letter telling them that their prices are ridiculous. I just don't buy the car." -
That's fine, darling. Everyone is welcome to their opinion.
-
Quote:Really 50 dollars? I charge half of that for a simple head sketch at a convention. *shrug* to each their own, no need to be nasty about it, darlingIf those are "sale" prices, then count me out. There's a certain level of inherent cost scaling with talent, but good lord. I could easily get 2-3 other commissions from people just as talented for that price. >.<

What a negative individual!
And hey, grammar princess is striking again...it's "they know what I stand FOR."
Also, he said he wanted to try RP...hence the RPers responses. Not to mention he was saying something about elitism...reread what you posted right there...sounds pretty flipping elite to me. Just sayin'. -

Yeah, honestly, I can't even remember where the nickname "The Sauce" came from, but it was definitely from CoX boards.
Anyway, my account was activated for a month due to me being super, super sick and stuck at home, but my account is going to be running out within the week. I figured I would go ahead and post a link to what I'm offering here before it goes away!
I have a sale going on right now:
Sorah's Sale
(You can skip my explanation of why I'm all of suddenly offering severe rate cuts LOL, long story short, I was having cascade system failure for about a month, it was awesome...and by awesome I mean suckfail).
Examples of what you can expect:
COMPLETED----
And even though this was a gift piece, here's example of me drawing male figures----
Anyway, shoot me over an email, message (not on these boards obviously, but through my DeviantArt site), etc!
XoXo -
I love that you randomly shoved Xanatos in there, Bayani. Hahahaha

Quote:Yeah, withn MRP you have the "fade to black" should your toon get into a sexual situation.
ah, I get it
MRP = cussin' and drinkin'
ERP = whorin'
ERP = you write that jazz out.
Although I think we should include the straight up cyb0rz. People whoc have cyber-sex do it under the guise and false veil of ERP. I qualify the distinction as: If your character(s) have growth within the sexual experience, then writing it is no more than a writing exercise...however, if you are actively "participating" in real life whilst ERPing...that's a whole 'nother animal. Not my cup of tea, but to each their own.
Personally, a giant blue, glowy-eyed **** doesn't do it for me in real life.
<_<
>_>
<_<
>_>
Just sayin'.
(P.S. Xanatos, because I know you vanity search yourself, I'm SO just going to start invoking you in all my posts just to piss you off hahahahaha) -

Quote:Actually I don't think I do anymore. Disappeared into the interwebs methinks.
you should post some KS/Star of America pr0n. Cause I know you got it.
Quote:Not even online, though I've seen you in passing running through the D a couple of times. :-)
I used to like the D, when I would roll in with the Dominion, RP something chill, which would turn into something epic. Or when Ghost Widow would chill with me....ahhhhh, good times. -
Welcome Back!
And LOL @ CO hate. XD Don't think ya missed much, but I haven't been playing lately, just posting on boards.
