Quote:No.. but it does get a bit frustrating watching Kid bust his *** raid after raid and get a few thanks tossed his way each time, but if there's a problem... oh boy... the **** starts flying.Translation, if I am not ready to run my own raid, shut the **** up and don't try to participate in helping the current leadership make the process more hassle free for all involved by suggesting alternate methods of setting up and delineating appropriate turnout and communication for raids?
EDIT: Now that I'm slightly less wrought up.... A much better translation of my comment would be: If all you have are complaints, go run a raid your way. Perhaps implying that we're never going to run a raid again, and complaining about the communication methods we have available is intended to be helpful, but... it really came across, to me anyway, as just ********.
But, I do have to ask. In exactly what way was this comment:
Quote:Someone drop me a tell if a raid is actually going to go off one of these days.
This (the mid-issue slump combined with i19 in closed beta) problem is going to resolve itself fast. After I19 hits, we'll have a full hive/abyss every time. It won't be a problem again for quite awhile.
The ball was dropped early by posting the next raid and then immediately trying to change it. That was what caused this whole problem and it was an organizational problem that has never happened before and probably won't happen again. It was an oops, and the problems that occurred this time are not likely to ever occur again.
But... back to the snark at hand... if you make a snarky comment... you're probably going to get a like response back. -
Quote:You misunderstand. The problem become that of relying on people to regularly read and follow up on the forums. Doing it this way pretty much guarantees you're NEVER going to do it again, as only a tiny subset of players actively hit the forums.
The raid was not canceled because no one responded to the initial posting.
The raid was canceled because when we realized Kid couldn't be there at the regular time and T asked what the rest of us wanted to do, pretty much no one responded.
Now... I told T myself that most likely no one had looked at the thread again, and were unaware that the question had even been raised, but, none the less, that was the medium we had available to discuss the problem.
The leadership is not the issue. We have plenty of people capable of taking on any of the roles (T could have taken the lead, and any number of people could have stepped into his normal role). The issue is that we had to call the last raid d/t no enough people coming out, and it was starting to appear that THIS raid just had too many strikes against it.
The number one thing that influences whether a raid happens or not is participation. That's it.
We - the raid leadership - discussed it and decided that given the poor turnout at the last raid, the lack of apparent interest in this one, and that not just the raid leader but several other of our more experienced raiders were going to be unavailable, the best thing was to call this one.
If at any point, you're unhappy with the way Kid and his team make decisions, feel free to run your own raid. -
Hmmm... logged out, and started the pre download. This means i19 is SOON!
-
So... what's the plan?
If we're going to be changing things up, we need to let people know asap. -

What would you like to do? Quote:4. Skip the raid for this coming weekend.
Quote:3. Hold the raid on Sunday.
Also, the above mentioned habit.
Quote:2. Run the raid earlier while he's available.
Quote:1. Have someone else coordinate the raid (and "tank" Hamidon).
To sum up, I DON'T want to skip it. I guess option 1 or 2 would be my vote. -

This is TODAY!
Grab your nukes and come on out.
And, hey... if you get a minute, put your character in a halloween costume! -
I think I will see how Whiskey Tango does as targeter.
-
-
-
Yep... me an Numina will be "on a break" until things settle down in Paragon City.
-
I'll be there!
Not sure who I'll be on, but I'll be there. -
Hey! That's MY job!
Bring your nukes! -
Quote:Ooooh! We summoned the Hickman!I'm really sorry about that, but there hasn't been a way of doing it. Sooner wanted to be written into a comic in some fashion, and unfortunately I don't get to do them very often (hopefully that will change soon), so there hasn't been an opportunity yet. The next thing I have out is the Twilight Guardian mini-series, but because of the concept, there wasn't really a way to do it there.
I'm willing to chip in some game moolah for a refund, too, though, or fork over some comics, or work you into an AE adventure (I'm hoping to do some more in the near future, though presumably not as a guest author), or wait for another opportunity, or whatever it takes. I aim to please (you aim, too, please).
I tell ya what, Troy, I was very interested in option to appear in a comic - hence the dramatic bidding war and huge price tag- and I am still very interested. If that is still an option, I'll keep on waiting. As long as you haven't forgotten me, I can sit quietly and wait.
And in true Protector tradition, we have thoroughly hijacked this thread! -
Quote:Well... I'm still holding out hope that it will happen. So keep the funds. But thank you so much for the offer.I invited him personally to the Protector Vigilance channel a few months back, so if he's online (which seems a rare treat these days) we can reach him.
If you'd like I can talk with him since I ran the auction.
In any case, if you're not getting what you expected I will be available to do a full refund. I'm holding some inf from that auction still (for N P C / Mentor Project) and can also cover it with my own stash. -

Yep. We did one awhile back.
...I still haven't gotten my prize...
Other than thatit went really great.

Quote:I was one of the Protector PERC reps for awhile, so I do understand the amount of work and the frustration that goes into volunteering. Again, TS, I really appreciate you stepping in like this, especially in the middle of a bit of drama.Hey Toxic,
I wanted to draw attention to something those of us who benefit from PERC's activities often forget:
You guys rarely get the recognition you deserve.
In fact, for volunteers who give away their time and resources, your efforts go largely unappreciated. Most people who haven't been in PERC will not understand how much of your available game time is devoted to designing activities, coordinating events, and reporting results - all the while keeping a stiff upper lip and acting as PR officials on whatever server you're involved with. -
Well, I appreciate you stepping in to give us a hand. Thank you.
Yes, we would love to see the story contest here. I was very surprised and disappointed to find out that Protector - a server with a HUGE fan fic tradition - was left out of the story contest.
The main thing I would really like to see right now, however, would be for Ice Knight to apologize to Zek for his rude and insensitive comments. -
I may need a halloween costume on a couple of my girls.
-
Striker, I appreciate your comments.
I was pretty annoyed when Ice Knight responded to Zek's concerns with "If you actually cared, you'd have paid attention."
I appreciate you at least acknowledging the concerns instead of dismissing them. -
We run a hami raid here every Saturday afternoon. EVERY Saturday, at the same time.
Every week, we post a new thread to remind people what time and what side.
Each time we post, we make sure to list time conversions, because it is VERY easy to get wrong.
And every week, we go in and bump that thread the morning of the raid, just to remind people.
Do you know why we go to such effort?
Because we CARE that people know it's happening and want to make sure that they are reminded. We COULD just say
"If you were that interested in it you would have taken note," but that would kinda seem like we didn't care.
I think someone dropped the ball here by not posting a reminder. And that someone should have been a PERC rep. -
If kid runs it, I'll bring whoever would be helpful.
