Protection vs. Knockback, Knock Up, Repel, Stun, Sleep, Hold, Immobilize, Confuse and Fear. Pretty much the whole suite.

I don't know but the more I think about these Patron powers, the imbalances in the Dominator sets that are not being looked at because they are not exploits. I simply get more and more frustrated. I dont plan on selecting a patron till issue 8 or so. Maybe they will either add more patrons or revise the powers. the only difference I see between them all is do I want to take a power with resistance to energy or -energy.... hmmmm.
I will admit though all this test is only for bugs not for design. I can get pissed and quit but that wont make them undo the design at this point. The arguement that patron powers are not what we want or can use is already sailed.
Sad really, I had such big hopes for the Patrons too. Here I am deciding on a Power Pool that I could take from lvl 6 to fill in the 44-49 powers since I cant see using another attack that will only serve to get me killed. -
Did some of the PvP in Rv last night and wow all the PvP nightmares are true. Without a team focused on fighting together a Dominator is the guy in pink short pants on the playground. I swear I had a target on my head screaming "HIT ME TWICE TO FIND MY SOFT CARMELY CENTER". Also unless the other player is in the mood to set still while your pet finds and focuses on them they are totally hopeless. So in short I have NO intention to take the full set of patron powers for the pet unless I have no intention to PvP.
I died about as soon as the heroes could tab and find me.
Pets are really only a nice "chance" at damage.
NO mez protection and everyone else having them ment I spent more time "Immobed, stunned, and held" by LVL 40 tanks and scrappers then I did holding anything else. Sorry but a tank hitting me with Total Focus and doing 75% of my hp in damage and disorienting/holding me to boot is nuts. sorry balance is in the eyes of the one with the gun I guess.
So I rolled an AR/Sonic Corruptor and soloed with him a while. Holy smokes. No comparison I had a blast, was harassing tanks and scrappers with snipe, buffed brutes in melee and I never had a team as the corruptor. difference STATUS PROTECTION AND BETTER RANGED DAMAGE. I didn't get held, immobed or stunned by every tank or scrapper in the fray. So I had a chance to get away.
Devs let this come out clear. Your dominator's are completely broken in balance to other AT. I see no need to have a dominator on a PvP team since everything else works infinitely better. Also the Patron powers will make no appreciable diffence in play. wow a pet that cant keep up, wont fight my target and I will loose when I die so I cant have them again till "way" latter. Sorry but you need to look at your data and tell.
I will say I plan on making that AR/Sonic Corruptor on Live after about 2 hours of sniping fleeing heroes. That was just too much fun. I can only imagine how it would work on a team. -
Here are my 3 thoughts.
1 the patron power selection is weak. I would rather have mez protection and NO defense or resistance then a weak resistance toggle running. I would stay exactly as I am and have status protection then have any resistance for my toon. I dont see how this would be a balance issue if you make this swap.
2 why on earth give us another attack? we have an entire secondary with way better powers that dont cost 20 endo or recharge in 30 sec. I intent to skip them when taking my secondary.
3. why are we getting endo buffs when 2 secondaries already grant endo buffs, and domination gives an endo buff? If we cant work our endo woes with 1 or both of these you have a problem with the AT design. too little damage or too high endo cost.
Sorry but I am seriously dissapointed with the direction of the PPP. I will take the shield and maybe the endo recovery because the AT is soo goofy, but I can think of about a dozen alternatives to the ones given that I would delete high level heros for. I really hoped that the PPP would open a new door for the DOminators not dwarf them into oblivion by granting us the same damndable powers that the others get. -

I thought I might have the only one. He may not be as cheep as my Ice/Devices, but man is he fun. -
Sorry but I am not calling Issue 5 a sterling release. From what I can tell out of my super group of 75 or so people there are only 4-10 people who play anymore.
Is COH good? Yes.
Are the Developers doing what seems right? Yes.
Is putting suppression on invisibility from casting smoke grenade balance? I guess but its just serves to make the game slower and more of a grind.
Does my Ice controller seem like a new character? Yea, I much rather play my Ice/Devices blaster. He does more damage, has more pets and is WAY more fun to play. Why hold what I can 2 shot anyway?
Oh well, I still play I still have fun, just not with the same characters anymore. Oh and I did roll a defender before issue 5 came out. Thank goodness.
I really hope this works out, but COH has changed the one thing that really made COH the game to play and that is to drive off 90% of my friends, and to be serious that's just not cool. -

Why can't hoarfrost have the same recharge and affects as Healing Flames? Sure seems that defense could use the heals as much as my fire tank does.
Why not swap Icicles with Glacial Armor in the power sets so we can have defense across the board prior to completing 2/5 of our levels?
If EA is going to have a defense so low you need to hit the max enemies to use it why not make it a glorified Consume? Drop the defense buff put it in the toggles. EA isn't even perma without Hasten or slotting.
Put the Slow resist in Chilling Embrace and max it out or let us slot it. There is not need for slow resist all over the place.
Take the 0.5% buff in Wet Ice and trade that for something useful. Maybe regen buff or if you make Hoarfrost cycle like Healing flames add a HP boost of 20% with the toggle on?
I love they Hibernate I have with my Controller, but the power really has no synergy with Ice set. Ice is Dead or close while Resist type tanks usually have a more gradual decline when a fight is going bad. I would recommend that if Ice would have some of my other changes that Ice swap Hibernate for a self rez power similar to Rise of the Phoenix. Maybe a "Cold Start"
These are just my thoughts on what may make ice a more synergized set even if we need to dicker with the percentages all day. Like you all say, defense is soo far out of phase with resistance there is really no comparison. A resist based character rarely has to leave a fight due to damage. A defense character has to check himself every other hit. -
So why are the AOE CHANGES not enough to "fix" the effectiveness of the fire tank?
I sure hope you get done changing power sets soon, I really hate the bull crap that this is not working as we imagined before. Then why did you let the issue get released? What is the point of beta? or releasing on test server? I believe if you want to see people use test server to really test out powers you should allow keybinds that let people select their character levels and sell all enhancements for free.
Well at least my tank is 50. No need in actually leveling him anymore. Too bad I have to respec a fine character due to an afterthought. Keep up the fight guys. -
I would rather have a boost to recharge speed like a hasten with an endurance recovery buff. It's not damage that matters it is the fact that I am all out of stuff to shoot with or I have to wait for that darn attack to come up while I backpetal away.
Also as an Ice/Devices Blaster I can't imagine that Defiance works on my "pets" Caltrops, Trip Mine, Time Bomb, Auto Turret, Ice Storm and Blizzard. If someone can tell me that it works on those I might get more excited. Because as it stands I have 3 attacks that will get the "defiance" -

I think that ST should be considered like any other AOE debuff similar to the Earthquake, Ice Slick or Bonfire.
The fact that it can chain hold you and can be cast 3 at a time with only hasten is way stronger than any of these other skills. 1 out at a time is plenty strong. I played a match with my wifes toon and she held me with ST the entire fight when she got it near me. I could not get anything off once it had me terrorized and the fear stacked so even if one dropped I had 2-3 more on me.
Unless they up the recharge time on Spectral Terror or mitigate the chain casting, people are never going to be happy with the move.
