As it is now, defense is still way good in PvE, perhaps better than resistance for PvE.
Off the top of my head, some of the tools Ice has which lets it be an excellent self-sufficient tanker are:
Defense based
A great Slow and a solid dmg reducing aura (slows+pure dmg debuff)
Endurance draining/gain (might not stop baddies but certainly slow them down when they hit no endurance)
Hoarfrost
Practically immune to slows and caltrops (KoA at lvl 53-54... seen them kill Invul tankers by sheer time and attrition with those nasty caltrops and then the incoming dmg since they are sitting ducks)
Hibernate (while not elude or some other cool tier 9; still a great tool to survive)
Because it is a defense based set, in goes really well with Aid-Self since your chances to execute it uninterrupted go up considerably.
I have my best Ice/ tanker, he is an Ice/Dark combination and is simply as good as any other tanker combination that can claim to be the best self-sufficient combo. With a heal that is there in 3-4 seconds recharge time and heals for 398 pts a pop, plus to-hit debuffs, plus a nice acc and dmg tool, which vs groups, is way better than Build-up... Ice/Dark fits tough and weave in the build and not sacrifice a thing for an additional heal like aid self. My ice/em takes aid self but for tanking some tough scenarios, he has to ditch tough/weave for a more useful aid self in his defense-based build.
Ice/Dark can become the top or tie with the top spot as the best self-sufficient tanker combination. Gloomy-Frost is the name of my Ice/Dark and he is on Freedom server.
**Self-sufficient-- able to perform with excellence as a tanker with no buffs/heals or help from other ATs or powers in team.**
Missions like nemesis are night mare the set has weak fire def/resis and 53 warhulk with veng. blowing up will easily take you out. Where as my other toons Shield/Stone/Inv Brute/Tanks have had no problem against them. Set went downhill with ED and has never recovered form it. -

thats what i was thinking ....... but then again tanks/brutes res/def is the highest in the game ..... maybe focused accuracy hasn't seen a defense of this magnitude ........ can't wait to find out though !

Brute res/def modifier is similar to scrapper only thing they share with tanks is the hp cap. As for FA along with BU and IO Acc set bonuses can hit thru SR scrapper with elude on pretty easily from my experience . -

mind blowing? thermal and cold for heroes is not? Thermal and cold domination are not mind blowing? PBU and cold domination = -dmg cap pretty much will take out any EB (pve) or AT (in pvp) out of the fight.
What kinda get me mad is the article how they keep describing how MMs cant get kin or how cold armor is not possible for brutes. Kinda adding fuel to the fire. -
didnt they also have storm for corr in closed beta i remember someone mentioning it?

zone invasion gives people something to do rather than usual afkers standing by the black market. I wish in the future there will be other factions thrown in the mix as well (council, cot and devouring earth etc)..

I do not think we might see 50 to 60 content for a while not because of content but how to introduce new powers for lv 50 to 60s. What more patron powers that have nothing to do with our powersets and not to mention the fact that most people already have 6 slotted most of their primaries what do with slotting then?
The problem is the nature of this game is based on slotting and unlocking new powers as you lvl rather than talents which makes increasing lvl cap very difficult. Only way to fix it to come up with something out of box like incarnates or unlock new tier 2 classes which you character will evolve into (i.e rock armor become adamantium armor, Energy melee will become like lightning melee etc).
Pretty much there comes a point in a MMO where you can no longer keep raising the cap you either have to make a new game (Guild wars) or reinvent it. -

More arena like instance options might be something to look into is all I'm saying. But if this thread is only for applause, then I apologize.

I been asking for update to siren's call and maybe RV as well with new vendors (chance to use the points for recipes etc) special AVs and Heros throw in the fray....

Its not like it would be any harder than spawning in pre-made bases. And we're already used to crashes, so thats not a problem.
Yes, its asking too much. I know. Off to battle more ai that stands still for fulcrum shift and nukes.
And yes, apologies for the negativity to all of you excited about more missions on the lab map. Maybe there is more to come that will adress something for pvp.

Hah! What's with all the whining about villians not having strike forces spread out through the levels? I've been playing for 6 months and have yet to complete a strike force. EVER! When I first started playing on heroes I got in on a few but they always went HORRIBLY. Chaotic, no direction in the group and the group always team collapsed half way through the first freakin mission! After the third time of this I decided I was NEVER touching that crap again.

I had no problem completing TFs or SFs finished RSF like 30 times. Just finished Katie Hannon Task Force last nite without single death if you are see one of my toons i more than welcome will u with a TF/SF...
