Quote:That's part of the problem. We don't know what's coming and when this happens...
And just or reference, I have never, and will never buy a vanity pet; and I want Staff Fighting very much. Even still I'm not going to whine and complain about pets because I can appreciate that while I might not like them others do.
Quote:From now on I'm going to have to treat everything Zwill says with intense doldrum, if this is his favourite thing in the market ever. He comes along stoking people for todays release... and it turns out to be a pop culture reference to a film that failed in its intent to become a cult classic.
Could of been the Sci-fi set, could of been the rumoured psychic weapon set that Yin uses, nope its an out of date pop culture reference.
Family guy would be proud.
I'm also not exactly reconstructing his words. It's just when you throw out "It's my personal favorite" it's usually not the most disliked type of item for your players. -
Quote:Pffff. My hypocrite levels are rising in that I would gladly buy a tiny elephant.People seem to have forgotten the likely elephant in the room - the game's 8th anniversary is coming up in a few weeks. My guess is that they are saving Staff Fighting for a release in another week or two to better correspond to the big "celebration" they are going to have for that.
P.S. Not I'm not implying they should give us elephant vanity pets either.
Actually totally forgot about the anniversary. That's a good point. -
It is subjective when they're releasing content that adds little to no depth into the game rather than something that'll keep people around and active for a month or even several months. But instead we're getting bombarded with these vanity items. They ARE nice but the developers seem to be a bit too proud of them.
So yes, there is an issue of quality over quantity here.
Here's a kitten to keep anyone annoyed with me from hitting me over the internet.
Quote:That's literally exactly what it is. It doesn't just feel like that. They said they'd have a release every week, they're going to have a release every week. Until they hire an additional hundred people to design something amazing every week, some of those releases are going to be a lot less cool than others. -
Quote:Oddly I seem to have more trouble with Arachnos than I do malta on recent toons O_o.Arachnos are insanely hard unless you're playing a melee set with protection to the frankly cheap and overwhelming debuffs they dish out. They do -recharge, -tohit, -end, -def, and they have a crapload of mez on top of it. Even with Destiny there's really no way to protect yourself from all of these things. The best I was able to do on 54x8 without eating a crapload of inspirations was take out 4 groups. Once I had more than one group aggroed at once (kinda hard to avoid on that first map) I was done, they were stacking their crap on me before I could even think about mezzing all of them. Maybe I should've used Megalomaniac, but oh well. These guys are one of the few things in the game that just make me want to pull my hair out.

Quote:Seemed like a last minute hideous decision they thought up and thought it'd be funny. Also makes the lion seem like a steal with another pet included.I'm fine with vanity pets but it sure would be nice to have more diverse offerings. Also why the hell does the liger have a scorpion tail? Is it supposed to be a chimera? I'm not going to purchase a dwarf lion or a badly-modeled mythical creature.
But remember, no more than 1 pet out at a time.
Nah you're just reasonable. I've been doing the same as you for some time but I'm nearing 50 on my fire melee/shield (Which'll be my sixth or seventh 50 in a year. I need to see some sunlight) and running thin on stuff to play. I don't want to get real into a toon if staff MIGHT be released soon, see? If it were confirmed it were say at the end of April I may be able to. -
Definitely agree with Darth. In fact, remember when beast on beta was first a leak of something we weren't suppossed to get until way after staff? Staff was far more complete than beast. What happened?
And yes, I have been overreacting. I do apologize. -
Quote:Really? Haven't had too many problems with super packs. If anything it's I always seem to get a bunch of Rares and VRs within 2 packs on beta and will go through about five or six on live and just get reward merits and revives :P.Hasn't worked on me, mine runs out next month, Super packs and the irritating way Paragon have been treating us made me unsub for the first time since CoV EU launch.
However you mentioned you're a EU player? What's happening with super packs on the EU servers?
Quote:The reason why we'll probably never get a "schedule of releases" is that it would tie there hands into a series of expectations that may or may not realistically happen. It's the same reason why they've never announced long-term dates for Issue releases - everyone knows if they ever missed one of those release dates everyone would scream bloody murder about it.
If we simply got a "No staff tomorrow" I'd be more "Well okay
" than turning into the hulk.

Quote:I do the same when it comes to sounds since CoH doesn't (usually) have mission music and I got tired of the First Ward/SSA battle theme after the third or fourth time of hearing it.I personally play with music blaring away anyway, so I don't care about sounds, just relase the bleeding set already.
Or failing that, have a schedule of relases up so we know whether to give a toss each Tuesday or not. This 'wait and see' approach is ******* irritating.
It's a brilliant marketing scheme that we don't know what's coming up, because VIPs won't cancel their sub so they can stay around and see what's coming. It's cold and dirty, though.
I'd be definitely okay with some more vicious looking beast travel powers. Coyote's pretty adorable and actually really fast, but I feel silly when a big badass dude turns into a pipsqueak puppy thing. -
Quote:Issue 18 kept me busy with all those powers up until I21. I would 100% agree with you if they weren't releasing pets almost back to back.I'm not saying it'd make you more interested in the cosmetic stuff, rather that if there were a major drought of "big" releases the cosmetic stuff would be all the more annoying to those who find it annoying in the first place. If Paragon's desire is to keep as many players as happy as possible, it would be unwise to release beast mastery and staff fighting essentially back to back and then have nothing huge for the next couple of months.
^And this -
Quote:1. Never said I was going anywhere or playing anything else.Lol this thread makes me laugh.
"What? Vanity pets? Well, I guess I'll go out of my way to make a post explicitly describing how I'm *not* going to buy it, how I'd have rather had a new powerset despite having a powerset released only *2* weeks ago. Yup, I'm gonna go play something else. I hope you feel bad, Paragon Studios."
Lol while I'm sure the guys at the studio are crying their eyes out about how displeased you are (no, they're not really), you don't have to be complete wet blankets about it.
If you want to play staff so bad, can't you do that on beta right now?
2. No. I can't. Beta is down until I23 release. -
Quote:My TW/EA(Energy Aura) brute has never run out of end since I've done this if you don't include T9 crashes.Agility Core is pretty excellent for Energy Aura.
* End Mod boosts the effectiveness of Energy Drain which is fairly significant. Stamina gets a boost, but it's small beans.
* Defense boosts the defensive powers as a whole (also including Energy Drain).
* Recharge is always good, naturally, and the extra end/sec Recharge imposes is offset by the End Mod increase plus EA's in-built powers.
Energy Aura basically gets full use out of Agility. The only thing it lacks is Heal to boost Energize.
If you feel you've got Energy Aura pretty well covered, Musculature's a good second bet. You don't really need Cardiac for Energy Aura; Energy Drain should be seeing regular use. -
Quote:Sure I wouldn't be as disappointed, but I would at least like to see those hecatombs hit since they ARE melee IOs and staff IS...Well. Melee.I have no idea why anyone would buy a vanity pet, or use the veteran ones for that matter. However, I also don't understand why anyone would get exercised when there's not something amazing in the market that week. I wouldn't buy a lion pet any sooner than I would buy a pilgrim hat. Nonetheless I accept that they can't release something as resource-intensive as a power set every week.
Yes, staff fighting is already complete and ready for release, but if they put that out there right now then the gap between that and the next super-cool store item is even bigger. How disappointed will you be about some dorky cosmetic pet at the end of may when you've already got your staff character all incarnated out?
:O
And no, that wouldn't make me buy a pet if I already have staff. -
600 for both sounds alright. Still not up my alley since when I've tried the pets on beta they're good for a nice screenie of me inflating my ego next to my shiny new pet, but that's about it.
-
Quote:The liger's pretty hideous, even on ultra. The lion's okay, but how long has staff been out?Did you expect that your personal enmity for vanity pets would be enough to keep any of them from ever being released in the future, including those that were already designed and tested?
Yes I know we just got beast and that's fine, especially after a long line of melee powers. But they've released a load of pets back to back but not things that'll keep you entertained for more than five minutes.
I'd like to know what people actually do with the pets besides pose and take pictures with them. -

Quote:Yes I am aware vanity pets are technically "content". But it's obvious on what I mean by actual "content". And yeah, the lion was on the beta server as well as staff and hecatomb.Sure the Liger actually making it to the Market was a bit of a surprise. But we already knew the Lion was on the Beta server so why would it have come as a shock to anyone that we were close to getting at least that as another vanity pet?
Again I realize that the words "content" and "vanity pet" don't exactly equate for you and that's fine. But at least don't be amazed when we know these things are coming regardless. *shrugs* -

I know Rularuu are real mean to anyone with psi.
And Arachnos are just mean to anyone. End sap with Mus especially. -
-
Old news, but it's confirmed it's i23 by Zwill.I guess this will be the finale of Praetoria if not a new AT?
-
Gee Napoleon Dynamite sure was funny this would have been a great idea.
Eight years ago.
Yes I AM being a whiny little jerk about this, but I think I should be when a new powerset we've been waiting for is delayed because of a "LOL NAPOLEON DYNAMITE WAS SO FUNNY XDDDD LETS MAKE A REFERENCE TO IT WITH A VANITY PET" I have a right to be. -
