Do what's fun for you, and try to ignore people who are zipping to 50 in an afternoon. My guess is that, after taking a character to lvl 42 the legit way, you would be pretty disappointed to skip right to 50 without actually doing the content.

And thank you Mental_Giant I hopped a bit from server to server when I first got here but settled on Victory and have loved the place ever since! I've read a lot of problems AE has had with teams for folks on other servers and I'm happy to report we actually DO still have regular ole teams here, I haven't had much trouble with it and have met plenty of other like minded folk along the way.

You are absolutely right that the point is having fun, and also that I probably wouldn't find an instant 50 very gratifying. It's just it almost seems to lessen the allure of actually getting there, maybe I'm a bit late in the game for much of that to be left anyway heh. Probably overreacting a touch with that It's just, sure PL has always happened and I really can understand why folks would do that reasons and have been mentioned in this thread, but this just seems like too much to me.

It's the lack of a grindfest endgame that really attracts me to CoX and yea, I can really relate to the folks who can't understand why anybody would want to skip ALL of the midgame when that's where the meat is O.o

Hiya Scootertwo Glad to hear there are people who can appreciate some story in beween the slaughter! Like Toril says I can easily see how certain levels can be frustrating. I have a few low level alts myself, one even got a quick ride to fly so hey yea I can dig that much heh. I'm starting to get bored on a few in game arcs myself, at least the early ones, so I can relate to that as well.. AE can be used for good as well as evil after all


Anyhoo.. perhaps I was a bit too pissy about it all in my first post I'm still having plenty of fun, no plans on stopping until I see that big 50 That said I do hope to see the devs tone it down some, at the least on the level of the already existing farms. Look I'm not here to whine, the game is what it is and I've never faulted people for doing what they want to do while I do what enjoys me. So keep that in mind before allowing me to dip into am into a minor rant here.

I'm new to the game.. got here late but have been enjoying myself quite a bit. I'm 42 now, played it 'fair' the whole way less for ethical reasons and more so I could expierence the game as intended, those arcs aren't so stale for me afterall. But I must admit there was some part of me that wanted to look at that character and think 'all right I fought my way to 50'. Sure I can watch other folks and friends zoom zoom as fast as possible to avoid having to 'play', and i can understand that on the umpteenth alt, but hey at least I earned my levels and up until now that was really enough for me. I was perfectly content and never had any trouble finding a team who felt the same. I knew I was being rather inefficient, but I was gaining friends and having fun and it was working just fine for me.

For me this just takes the cake. Up until now I knew that I was sacrificing speed for enjoyment/diversity/playing the game and I was perfectly content with that and it never bothered me people choose other routes. Looking at this however I just feel outright stupid. Is it not flat dumb to spend a month or two saving the world to earn levels when you can squirt out a 50 in a matter of hours? What was even the point of punching so many darn baddies, and how am I going to even encourage myself to level the rest of the way to 50 when it is so utterly meaningless at this point?

Again I know this is coming off as yet another whine/rant, and for that apologize it is not my intent. I just wanted to offer a perspective from someone who isn't running around with a pack of 50s and trying to work my way up the game for the first time. AE farm missions may have been disappointing but was totally expected and half the people using them would be off farming anyway. Shame to see the low-mid levels able to auto sk to pull off the same trick but I learned to live with that and despite the complaints I've seen on the forums I've surely never had trouble finding non AE teams on Victory. But this instant 50 stuff? This really kills my motivation to press on. Am I going to feel stupid if I log in and actually work towards leveling to 50 when I could just take a nap while someone exploits the ae to its fullest extent? Maybe mmos aren't the best use of time in this world but the more I see this the more I've felt like I've been wasting my time working for something that apparently no longer requires work at all.

Again just my two cents from one of the few newer players. I really have nothing against farmers, afterall it's that or bum in Atlas, but this super quick PLing is just sad to me. I've read a lot of doom and gloom about how this or that will nerf/hurt/kill CoX and mostly I think its much ado about nothing but this particular situation has a good chance of eliminating any chance of new blood. Not because I can't find teams here and there, surely I will find a spattering of folks who felt like playing for ten minutes or couldn't find a free ride that day, but because will we not all eventually come to the conclusion that we all know someone who hit 50 in an afternoon and we're possibly wasting our time?

Thanks Lindow for proving how bad this can be and sharing it, I can only hope the devs care and are working towards a solution to make 'shall I do a mission or an ae arc' a real choice and not 'shall I play the game or hit the 50 button'. Again I'm new so I don't really know how the devs generally deal with stuff like this. For now I cross my fingers and hope, but if this doesn't at least see a major toning down of some sort it's going to be awful hard for me to rationalize pushing to 50. Why bother I would feel kinda stupid...
