I've been saying this in a few posts, and I just want to hear a reply from someone before I give up pushing the idea.
Is it possible to "sell" the game to the fans through something like Kickstarter?
There seem to be a lot of developers and designers that got "let go" or moved off of CoH that could basically form a new company and take CoH off NCSoft's hands. Would it be feasible to buy the game from NCSoft with that raised money and form a new company? In one of NCSofts reply posts they said they couldn't find a buyer... so could the fans be the buyer? -
So I'm not sure where to reply with this thought, but why don't the folks that are trying to reverse engineer the system and create a new CoH (or CoH like game) start up a KickStarter?
There are a lot of people who buy Paragon points, myself included, that would be willing to save up a bit and chip in to a project like that. KickStarter lets you do a "thank you"/"prize" system for donating. Put a promised pre-order at 100$ and I'm in. -
So some ppl have been saying that it's not a good idea for game companies to start compensating players for down time. There are a few major games that do it already, however.
One company pushes back subscriptions with delays exceeding expected times. So if there are 2 days of really unplayable servers, or a day of unplanned maintenance, they will add that time onto everyone's subscription. (I've had this happen to me in one of their games recently) -
The Dev's didn't have to do anything to apologize IMO.
I was a little disheartened when I found out you can't earn more candy canes though T_T
