In theory, this is all balanced by there being no "end of mission" reward in terms of XP/Influence/Prestige. In practice...not so much.

How about adding a bit of QoL on story missions? As it stands, it takes forever and a day for most newbies to get into this game, particularly since there's no travel power till 14 when they don't know they can earn one at lvl 5. Something like choosing +50% debt (or 50% of the debt you would get if <lvl 10s got debt) and getting rezzed at mission start. Also, you could tighten the range at which players are given door missions (and maybe FedEx missions too). I know you want lowbies to explore the world, but I almost quit soon after starting because of the frustration involved in running around.

The handful of non-glowing responses I've seen have been very reasonable and more in the realm of disappointed but still understanding. For that I'm exceedingly grateful.

So thanks for staying positive and constructive, it makes reading the forums so much easier and working on this game so much more rewarding.

The only thing about this whole thing that I could possibly be upset about is that Stone Armor didn't get a going over, at least from everything I've heard so far. I know you guys made stone armor look like it does, and it is better than the original, but I've always wondered:

Why can't you just run an emboss texture, or drop a texture, on top of the character model. Was the engine not designed to handle that?

Because Stone Armor would be totally awesome if it's look was changed to more closely resemble what Bioware and later Obsidian used for the Stoneskin and Barkskin spells in NWN 1 & 2. Here's what I've always hoped for:

Rock Armor: Common grey stone texture. Almost the same as the Stoneskin spell.
Brimstone Armor: Volcanic/basalt/graphite. Very dark, with veins of "lava" running along the texture. When mixed with Rock Armor, it "extrudes" around the veins, leaving the rest of the grey in place. Mostly along the arms and legs, with bits into the chest. Alpha blended so as to not cover the rock armor.
Crystal Armor: White crystal encrusting on the chest, back, thighs and forearms. Not like now where it protrudes, just a texture skin with alpha blending.
Granite Armor: Actual granite texture, mixed with 'veins' of basalt/graphite and lava, plus the crystal patches. Looks sleek, because it's again a texture instead of a different model.

I would, of course, be happy with just an overhaul of Granite armor. Because that would be awesome in and of itself. The rest, however, would be really cool. Heh, now that you're finishing Power Customization BaBs, maybe you could look into it?

But don't cause the riot and then act all offended that you got one.

Here I insert the metaphor of certain people and certain amounts of dress or undress being the cause of something happening to them, and then talk about how in your view they will be judged harshly unless they respond in a complacent and cooperative manner. (bleh)

Suffice it to say that I'm disgusted by this attitude. Rioting is vandalism writ large. It doesn't accomplish anything, it only hurts the community. Do you want CoH to follow in the footsteps of WoW?

The Devs DO NOT cause rioting. They make changes. Those changes frustrate people, and often validly so. But you will only harm our community when you lead the pack in throwing a temper tantrum.

    Be persistant.
    Be persuasive.

But do so politely and to the point.
