  12. ...introducing LoneStars, VIRTUE'S PREMIERE SOLOIST SUPERGROUP...

Here are some FAQ'S that I have received during scouting:

    Q: What is a soloist?
A: LoneStars' definition of a soloist is a hero or villian who for whatever reason, in real life or in-game, fight most of their career by themselves.

Some soloists are people who do not like to interact with others while they enjoy the game. Other soloists are people who like to join teams, but their IRL schedules or obligations prevent them from keeping team commitments, thus they have adapted their character to a more independent lifestyle. There are some soloists who are social people, but just simply prefer to not fight crime in groups. And there are those that feel they just can't seem to belong anywhere...

If this describes your hero, LoneStars is the SG you've been waiting for.

Q: Why would a soloist want to join LoneStars?
A: First and most obvious is the base. We provide inspiration, enhancement, and salvage storage facilites for you to put in and take from as you wish. Have a Focused Rage you want to save for later? Keep it at the base. Need a little more influence to get that dual-origin enhancement? take one from the table and sell it. Have salvage that you don't know what to do with? Drop it off here and figure it out later. Soon LoneStars will provide an infirmary for it's members. So if a LoneStar dies during a door mission, they can restock inspirations at the base, and respawn at that mission's entrance upon exit. No need spawn at the hospital a couple of miles away, find a contact on the other side of the zone to buy inspirations from, and having to sneak by all those purple mobs again.

Second, LoneStars provides online support through SG chat for questions you may have on your solo journey, quick help to get over a roadblock you've encountered in a door mission, or just a fellow soloist to chat with when you're bored. We also provide offline support through The Official LoneStars Forum for anything game or non-game related that comes to mind while at work, at school, or at a friend's house. LoneStars, as soloists, understand where you come from and will provide the best help possible without interfering too much with your solo-game.

Lastly, we understand that there are times that soloists may feel the need to form a team for social or professional reasons. As a service to its members, LoneStars is proud to announce its affiliation with Repeat Offenders Network

Finally have time for a Task Force mission but don't feel like broadcasting 'lvl 23 scrapper LFT Positron TF' all day? Use the network to pull a team of professionals from different servers together who would be happy to join you. No one to RP with in pocket D? Ask on the global channel to find someone with an RP toon on Virtue to join you. Looking to place one of your team-oriented alts on well-organized SG on a different server? The RO network can find your toon a home quickly. For more info, please look at the Visitior's Center section of the forum.

Simply put, LoneStars can give the heroic soloist the backing no other can provide...

Q: Is LoneStars an RP or non-RP group?
A: We can be, if you choose to. Members are under no obligation to RP if they do not desire it.

Q: So what is expected of a LoneStars member?
A: The only solid rule is to be courteous to fellow LoneStars members, the members of the Repeat-Offenders network, and to other people you come across with in-game. The principles of karma fit in here also. Whenever you help a fellow LoneStar or RO network member, word will get around and favorable things can only happen to you in return. If you like to troll, annoy people, or cause trouble, you are not LoneStars material and your behavior WILL NOT be tolerated.

Also, as a soloist you are pretty much expected to be self-reliant. While LoneStars is dedicated to help you in your fight against crime in every way possible, we are not a PL service or a beggar's circle.

Currently, we ask LoneStars members to please enter SG mode until level 25, then whenever they can after. No need to wear the colors though, just be SG mode for now. Once this is accomplished, prestige earning will be up to you.

Other than that, you are your own person...do whatever the **** you want.

Q: If i join, can you take my alts too?
A: We understand alt-oholism. Many of us have multiple alts as well. Alts can be taken in, but if the space is needed, understand that we can and will remove an alt for an active player.

Q: Great, how do I join?
A: Are you comfortable working alone?...

Answer this question at Repeat Offenders in the LoneStars forum, or send an ingame e-mail or /tell to @Sailor Rush

    Hope to see y'all ingame!
  13. Tyler Rushing was scared. A hero had turned up where he and some other Hellions were planning on setting off some explosives.

No, not just any hero. His Dad. Who would have thought? His dad was just that, his Dad. Not a super hero. Or so he thought until this night.

Tyler crept into the house through his bedroom window, the same way he had been sneaking out for months. He had to get the mask and vest hidden. He had to get moving. His thought scattered and tumbled over each other, a million half-formed thoughts all jostling for dominance in his mind...

"I didn't know the Hellions opened a junior division."

The words stopped him cold. A light flared and there he was: his dad. No, not his dad, a hero.

Sailor Rush looked at his oldest son: Except for the intervening years, he looked just like him at 16. The same stubborn set of his face, the same build, the same eyes. Except the fear. The fear was different.

"So are you going to explain yourself?" Sailor asked, steel in his voice. Ty looked even more afraid. Afraid and surprised. "So are you going to arrest me?"

Sailor looked down, "Can you tell me why? What did I do wrong that led you to this? I thought you knew better!"

Ty looked at his father: Big, bigger than Ty, but at this moment Seemed lost. "What do you mean, Dad? You've never been there for me! At least my friends..." "Your "friends" are a bunch of no good punks!" Sailor shouted. "At least they were there and they listened to me." Tyler shot back, venom in his voice.

Sailor looked up, the hurt in his eyes evident. Ty wished he could take those words back, but at the same time they rang true in his head. Sailor removed his mask and pased a hand over his face. "Ty, my job led me to a lot of places. Places I didn't want to go, but I went because it was my job and it was the right thing for me to do. Unfortunately, it took me away from what was important in my life: you, and your brother and sisters. I'm sorry you thought I wasn't there for you, but there was no other way that I could do what needed to be done. Now it looks like you went down a wrong path, and that means I failed to do the one thing in this world all fathers are supposed to do: keep their kids safe. Can you forgive me?"

Ty looked at his father. A seemingly broken man, then he noticed the tears. Dad crying? Never in a million years did Ty think he'd ever see that! His father's tears got to him, suddenly the room was swimming in his vision. "I'm sorry Dad." Ty sobbed, "I never expected it to go this far. I never meant to get into any trouble."

Sailor took his oldest son in his arms. "I know Ty, I know. It's going to be alright."

Father and son just stood there, holding each other and letting the tears flow.
  14. ((That was freakin' SWEET!))
  15. Sailor was about to head to The Winter Gala in Pocket D when his communicator went off. Sonofa...! Can't the city get along without me for ONE night? "This is Sailor, go." "Sailor Rush, we need you to go to Perez Park. A Hellion by the name of Flamespark is threatening to detonate a series of bombs." Great. Just great. "Understood. On my way." Sailor walked into the bedroom and changed, cursing all the way...

    Perez Park

Haven't been here in awhile. Better hit the streets and see if I can find this Flamespark punk. Psuedo-magic BS a**holes... It took a bit of persuading, but Sailor finally got the location of the building. Sailor headed over toward the Steel Canyon entrance. Somebody is about to have a bad night...

Inside, the dark and quiet merged into a palpable essence. Sailor moved quickly and quietly, disarming bombs and dispatching Hellions with as much force as he could use and not permanently disable them. Eventually, he made his way to a small room at the bottom of some stairs.

Leaping into the room. Sailor confronted Flamespark. "That's it scumbag! You're plan ends now!" "Dad? Is that you?" Sailor spun. The Hellion mask may have hidden his face, but the haircut and voice definitely belonged to his oldest son, Tyler.

The distraction was enough. "Take this hero down!" and the rest of the Hellions attacked. Sailor didn't, couldn't fight back, as all his attention was on his oldest son. What have I done? How could I have failed? What led Ty to this? The questions ran 'round and round in Sailor's mind, until a final boot to the head and Sailor mercifully was transported to the hospital...
  16. "Hey Dad? Can I watch a movie on your portable DVD player?"

Bryan's words caught Sailor, replacing the kitchen faucet, by surprise. "What portable DVD player? We don't have one of those."

"Sure you do. I found it in the van. Can I watch a movie?"

The van? OH NO! My police radio!!!" "Uh sorry Monkey, but not on that one. The batteries are dead." "That's okay, I'll just plug it in then.", Bryan chimed, "So can I?"

Sailor sighed. Being a Hero was hard enough, but maintaining a secret identity was far harder. "Look Bry, you really shouldn't be rooting around in the van, okay? That's my work van." And you might find my costume. That would never do. "Now, why don't you just go put that back where you got it."

"But I wanted to watch a movie!" Bryan pouted. "Everyone else is hogging the TVs, and I want to watch my movie!" The determined look on his face clearly marked him as Sailor's son. Sailor just looked at him all the harder.

"I said to put it back okay? You know better than to be messing around in the van." "But..." "No buts, just DO!"

"Bryan sulked, "I never get to do ANYTHING around here..." as he slumped his way out the door.

One of these days Bry, I'll tell you why, but not today. Sailor thought sadly, then returned his attention to the sink...
  17. ((Awesome. Simply awesome. Bravo good sir! Bravo!))
  18. ((HOLY MONKEY CRAP!))

    o_O

    ((More please!))
  19. ((Heroid, I hate you. I think I write fairly well, and then you post these amazing stories and I think, "Damn, how can I compete with that?"

Your stories are amazing, and I love reading them.

Btw, the hating part. I lied.))
  20. Gonna mention a few SGs that my various alts belong to, and a few others besides. You can read more about all of them and more by visiting www.repeat-offenders.net . Anyway, on with the show!

    SG: Paragon Emergency Medical Services
Open to all heal-based defenders. Helping keep others in the fight. That's what PEMS is all about.

    SG: LoneStars
Open to all ATs, but be prepared, since it's mostly composed of soloists.

    SG: Pinball Wizards Virtue
Open to all Kinetics defenders and Controllers. The Virtue branch of the famed Pinball Wizards from Freedom.

    SG: Fortissimo
Open to all sonic blasters, defenders, and controllers. Stacked -res is a thing of beauty.

    SG: Apostles of RO
    Open to any AT.

Also, getting a group together is easy, just join the Repeat Offenders global channel, and presto! No more PuGs, unless you want them!
  21. "Dad, are you tough?"

The question took Sailor by surprise, and he looked up from the game on TV. "I'm tougher'n most people Bry. Why?"

His 11 yr old looked at him with honest wonder. "And your strong too, right?" He anxiously asked.

Where the HELL is this going? Sailor wondered. "Yes, I'm pretty strong. Again why the questions?"

Bryan spits it all out in a rush: "Well if you're strong and tough, then why aren't you a superhero? Most people who are are pretty strong and tough and aren't you always telling us to do our best and help each other and other people?"

Sailor just looks at him, his thoughts immediately go to the costume hidden in the work van. Could his secret be out that easily?

"Well monkey, I'd like to help, but I have Pam and you kids to look after as well. That's a pretty full-time job right there."

"Maybe you can be a weekend superhero!" Bryan laughed. Sailor grabbs him and gives him a big hug and tickles him. "Oh yeah? Maybe I should move us to the Rogue Isles and be a super villain! BWAHAHAHA!"

Giggling, Bryan gasps, "What powers, eh?" Sailor continues the assault. "Why, the power of the tickle of course! None shall stand before me, for I am, THE TICKLER! Fear me!"

Finally spent, he rolls the boy onto the floor. Bryan recovers his breath and looks somber for a moment, "You're just kidding, right Dad?"

Sailor looks at him, "Yeah Bry, I'm just kidding. I like it right here." "Okay, cool." and Bryan wanders out of the room.

Sailor goes back to watching the game, a slight smile playing across his lips.
  22. Sailor pulled the van into the driveway. Three bikes lay scattered across the yard. Nice to see the kids put things away. he thought. Just glad the Outcasts don't come out this far.

Opening the door he is assaulted by sounds and smells. "GET OFF ME!" "I'M TELLIN'!" "MOoOoOM! He's touching me!" As usual, the kids have thrown shoes, games, and backpacks all over. Sailor Raises a voice like a bullhorn, "KNOCK IT OFF! Let's get this stuff picked up, NOW!" Heads pop out, and 5 kids scurry out and start giving hugs and picking up their things. "Hi Dad! What did you do today?" his 11yr old asks.

Well, son, Dad beat the crap out of a bunch of Outcasts, then went over and took out a little aggression on some Council punks. Sometimes he wished he'd just told them the truth. Sometimes he wished he didn't have to do this at all.

"Just worked on a skyscraper over in Steel Canyon. Place must have been over 100 stories tall!" Bryan looked a little down, "Didn't anything exciting happen?". "Nope", Sailor lied, "Just an ordinary day.". Ordinary for me anyway.

Walking in the kitchen, the smell of italian spices hung enticingly in the air. Pam was making some sort of pasta dish, and the garlic bread was smelling awesome. Sailor's stomach grumbled. "Hey Sweetie.", she gave him a hug, "You okay? I saw the news." Concern in her eyes. Sailor hated that, but he couldn't handle ever lying to her. "I'm fine. Just a few bruises."

Now she looked harder. "You sure? I know what "a few bruises" means to you mister!" Sailor took Pam into his arms, resting his chin on the top of her head, "Seriously, just a few bruises. You know I'll take care of myself." He looked down and kissed her.

She would not be put off. "I know you'll get yourself seriously hurt." Sailor sighed. This always happened when something he did made the news. She would get worked up and paranoid that something would happen to him, and he'd have to spend the rest of the night reassuring her that everything was going to be fine.

Sailor was about to say something, when that phone rang. Pam just looked at him. "Go on, answer it. I know you want to." "Dear Heart, it's not like that. I just..." "I know, I know, you just want us to be safe. We've been through this already.", she sighed. "Just be careful, okay? I need you."

Sailor kissed her and gave her a big hug. " I know. I will. I love you Dear Heart." and he stepped back out the door "And you kids better pick these bikes up!" then he was gone.

" I love you too.", she whispered...
  23. Thank you for this! I can't wait to Get my TA/A defender high enough to use some of this guide!
  24. Nice guide. I run a MA/Invul "natural" scrapper, and find that it's all in how you backstory. The Invul set is a bit hard to explain sometimes, especially with the aura from temp invulnerability. I did take SS as a travel power, just so I wouldn't have to constantly explain why I had no travel power. Good job!
  25. ((Thanks Defcon. I really appreciate that since I'm not what I would consider a writer.))
