  1. I just recently started an Elec/Ela Brute and so far it is playing extremely well with good AOE. You get Jacobs Ladder at 2 which is a Cone directional cone, easy to use pretty much just put it on the biggest baddie and once the enemies group up to attack you take about 2 steps back and hit it, that combined with Lightning Field from Ela means I hardly ever target minions, and add in Thunder Strike at 8 and you have a pretty efficient AOE machine. I have mainly been running him solo at 0/2 at first till you start getting defense built up a bit, once get that going better I will probably crank it up more. I hit lots of Insp because they are pretty much dropping constantly with this build and it helps with the defense and using Respites as my heals, I pretty much convert all Cabs to Respites, since with the minor end drain on all the attacks I hardly ever get low on End.

While its not going to match SS/FA for farming Elec/Ela could be quite the good farmer itself since by lvl 8 you have an AOE Main attack (10 Targets), a Cone attack (5 Targets), and a Damage Aura (10 Targets). One of the other things that got me interested in this build was the Burnout power coming in i21 which refreshes all Primary and Secondary powers instantly, that would mean you could run Power Surge for almost 4 minutes with good timing which should be plenty of time to take out just about anything in the game.

I am planning for a fairly recharge heavy build, with a good bit of S/L Defense to have quick recharge of Energize (since that the only heal you get) and to make this build an AOE Machine. Between Lightning Rod, Thunder Strike, Chain Induction, Jacobs Ladder, and the 5th tier power from i21 adding in a second teleport in attack, it should be pretty crazy.
  2. Hi all, sense I started back up with play CoH I was thinking about making a Shield using character, and with the way Shield Defense works and the powers that work based on having allies around, granting cover to others with a defense boost, and the enemy damage debuff, do these effects stack from each individual character?

If so, then if you ran a team with atleast 5 Shields Defense Scrappers (going with them for best damage output to use with SD,) you would get 10.5 Def from Phalanx Fighting (3 Team Mates in range) Grant Cover giving each Scrapper 33.752 Def and 42.19 Def for any other Team Mates and then Against All Odds debuffing the damage on enemies in range by -37.5.

Now I know that these are based upon there being a max of 10 enemies in range at one time for the Debuff and the group staying fairly close together, but if we started some groups up around this idea and made a play night of it like Tanker Tuesday or Brutal Monday/Thursday, it would make for some really survivable groups, not to mention having a group with that many Scrappers together trying to take down everything in sight as fast as possible.

So with that idea in mind is there anyone else out there interested in something like this? Either we can create a theme group could be RP based or get kinda silly and make a Monty Pythons Knights of the Round Table (bring your own coconuts) type thing, or just do it as another get together night. That being said if you are interested but already have a SD character and want to play something else, I left room team wise for others to join in, who wants a moving Shield wall of crazy scrappers granting you defense and beat stuff down as the come to it.

This is just to introduce the idea and see how it floats, no server decision or anything yet, so thoughts?
  3. Hi all,

I am a recently returning player looking to get into some good grouping and would certainly like to get in on the Tanker Tuesdays. I have a concept for an interesting tank to make, but would be starting out at the beginning and was wondering which server to role on and be able to make it into a team? Should I shoot for Virtue and the 16th, since I doubt I would be able to make lvl in time for next tuesday on Justice?
  4. Hi, recently started up my CoX account again and just started playing a DM/FA Brute as a new character to try out, and one thing you might want to look at trying with this build is that I went with Shadow Punch, Smite and Air Superiority. Its early now but AS makes for some great mitigation and makes for a really smooth combat cycle, open with AS to knock the biggest bad guy for a loop, lay in with Smite then SP and AS a punch and AS is about ready again, about by the time the guy is back on his feet. Once I get to better enhancements and drop the recharge time on stuff, it will be pretty great. Touch of Fear one guy, AS, Smite, SP, have Siphon Life as a mix in Damage/Heal. Then I am planning on building Dark Consumption, Consume and Soul Drain into mean AOE setup. Either way AS is a great attack to mix in with DM offers excellent mitigation and a decent damage output. Shadow Maul is a great attack but best used when you can line up enemies for the small cone and with the long animation it can leave you stuck sometimes, more situational in my opinion.
  5. The idea to make the Crash Site and Shadow Shards more reachably is great, and needs to incorporate the story ex: Teleporters for Rikti are fine, but for the Shards an Dimensional hole needs to form, could setup like one of the portals At Portal Corp is damaged and explodes creating such thing maybe.

    Now for a question:
When can we look forward to the introduction of more AT? We see the sonic attacks and the bow, will there be more then that?

    My Altaholism demands more .
