OOOOOOOO that looks SOOOO GOOD!!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
I concur with Starchasm <o.o> This is most excellent.
You know what I find best about this picture? (Not kidding)
Rowr looks *actiony*! Usually she seems very soft and almost huggably cuddleable which is in no way bad.
But this Rowr looks like she'd kick your [censored] <,<b I love it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks Squirrel! I think that every superhero/heroine should look like they could kick your [censored], even if they're just standing there. I mean, by all means make them good looking, but they should always have that capable, "I can handle this" attitude.
If I managed to do that, my job here is done. (dusts off hands)
I'm glad you like it! -

I think Rowr doth approve!!! It's wonderful!!!
Are you going to mail me a high res version?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes ma'am! I'll see if I can get it out to you this morning. I'm glad you like it! -

Wahhh, your Rowr's way better than mine!
Anyway, great job on it, lol
[/ QUOTE ]
You know, I look at Adam Hughes' stuff and think the same thing! There's always someone who kicks your butt if you're comparing work.....but then you can always find someone who's work isn't as nice. It's a never ending cycle! The main point is to do what you enjoy....and keep doing it! You'll learn more and more as time goes by until eventually people will hold up your work with someone else's and say "You can't say one piece is better than the other...they're just different".
...at least that's what I keep telling myself! -
-
Hey! Those are some great lines! Rowr is one lucky lady. Er...cat...lady.
-
Ahh..back from vacation! Time to sketch!
Rowr, new and improved...with stripes!
Should have this finished up this coming week!
---Roguehill -
Hey! That's pretty sweet, Jug! I obviously need to develop more patience in Photoshop...
-
Alrighty, here's the second step in the WIP. In this one, I'm firming up the larger details, getting ready to add shading, tiger stripes, etc. I'm not 100 percent sure of what I want the background to be just yet.
Take a peek.
On a personal note, I'm taking off with my wife on a week vacation, so don't expect to see me much until Thursday of next week.
Have fun, folks! -
"Iä, Iä, Shub-Niggurath!"
Oh, Graver! A pity that you have glimpsed the hand behind the shadow of my terrible plan! How many of us have seen pictures of Rowr and not tremblingly imagined seeing her clothed? It is my genius beyond space and time that shall bring it forth!! Hahahaha!
How you will all quiver with horror when my work is complete! The very heavens will shake at the vision of Rowr's clothed-ness!! Women will weep and men will flee like cattle before their dooooom!
*cough*
Yeah. All that and more, mister. Thanks for the leg comment!

It's like.....Pocket D for artists in here!)
...and I'm starting to understand Squirrel's "image speak".
...oboy.

What are you using to ink, Squirrel? Most of the comic guys use a brush for those flowing, smooth lines (or digitally do the same thing on a tablet), even a brush marker might help give the lines some life. I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with the proportions, the "flat" feeling you're sensing is mostly because the lines aren't doing what they could to defined the shapes.
I hope that's helpful? -

looking good, should be nice when completed
critiquewise? errr...boots?~
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes indeed. The pictures from the game of Rowr show her in boots, and I was trying to get away from the "costumeless" pictures that other folks have been doing (although there are some darned impressive ones!), so I decided to try putting some boots on there for some interesting accessories. I'm not sure how much a tiger-turned-woman would like wearing boots....but I do know how much cats hate getting their feet wet! -
Howdy, everyone! I just wanted to show the WIP of the Rowr sketch. It's still in the rough stage (there's some anatomy issues I'm not happy with), but overall I like the piece. I know it's a bit light, but....it's a sketch after all.
You can see it here!
Roguehill -
Hey...that looks nice! I can't wait to see how it develops! Hmm...I gotta work on mine sometime....
...after Rowr and Plasmastream, of course! -
Woah. What AT has the "drop-pier-on-someone" power?
-
Howdy Back, Graver! I'm getting pretty curious about this Gill Bates/Graver collaboration-thingy that is on MMOART.com.....any morsels you can toss the curious?
-
Thanks, everyone! I started work on the Rowr piece last night, but I'm going to review it this morning to see if it "makes the cut". I'd post a pic of it, but I ran out of time to scan things..
A very important part of a sketch to me is to illustrate the personality of the character...and I want to get as close as I can with Rowr!
"To Pants or not to Pants....that is the question..."
-
That would be neat to see...especially for all of us artists! I agree with the consensus that it would be correct to ask the artist first, and it would be great to give them credit in the gif.
-
This has a great feel, Graver...the wings are wonderful! Her skin seems a bit...chalky, perhaps? Maybe smoothing out the tones on her skin would really bring out the softness of this piece.
...I gotta do a digital painting sometime! -

PM caught, Plasma! Good to hear from you. I have no idea where the inspiration will go with Rowr, but she's being very kind in letting me "interpret" her character. Keep your fingers crossed! I'll see if I can do some sketching tonight...
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh yes, I've noticed that little trend! Not to worry, but I'll keep Rowr's pants...or whatever...where they belong. I'll try not to dissapoint!
try to keep poor Rowrs pants on thoshe keeps losing them in game and in artwork :P
[/ QUOTE ] -
PM Caught, SuperMaoriFulla! I've been admiring the art you've collected for your heroes on your deviantart site!
-
So....shiney!
This is the sort of thing that just blows me away. I'm not a 3D artist, but I know things usually take longer than they look....and this looks complicated!
Y'know what would be cool? A flash banner that scrolled past the members of the pic...kind of like the "Kingdome Come" covers animated...
Congrats!! -

Woah! You guys are quick! Thanks for all the comments! I admit to being a sucker for the 1930's and 40's pulp genre, I'm an avid reader of the pulps as well as listen to the old radio shows (especially the horror ones!). My style just kind of "went" that way.
And yes, Rowr is shameless. She's already got me on commission.Expect to see my first-ever tiger-lady soon!

Browsed your work, it's pretty incredible.
I could almost hear the old time radio soundman hurriedly inventing the thunder, gunshots, and creaking doors while looking at some of your drawings. The poses and overall compositions are just great.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh-ho! I sense that the "Old-time radio" is strong with this one! Thanks for the great comments....it's nice to know that my work is going where I want it to!
Thanks to everyone for the comments! Rowr, I guess I classified it as a sketch because it wasn't inked and it only took a half hour to do. Granted, it was one of those "wow" half hours that we artists occasionally enjoy (you know what they're like), but still, just sketch-ish.
I suppose that I should actually call it a WIP since I'm not sure if I'll do more with it. Hmmm....
