In a seemingly impossible coincidence, The streets and nearby suburbs of our beloved Paragon city, and the urban sprawl of the Rogue Isles have collapsed. Widespread panic has griped the residents of both cities as people woke up this morning to find enormous holes all over the city. Backyards, playgrounds, government parking lots, malls. Almost everywhere these craters have appeared over night. But fear not, there is little mystery to the occurrence, it has a very simple explanation.
With the huge number of Groups of Superheros and Villains setting up shop in thier underground secret lairs, caves, old bomb shelters etc. It was simply a matter of time until both cities were so honeycombed with rooms, tunnels, workshops, and all the other areas that your average Super/Villain group needs to see to its day to day affairs. That the ground would collapse. there has even been a marked decrease in water levels as apparently some of these bases were not only underground but below the bay and ports. Suffice to say Independence port was hard hit by this phenomena. One eyewiteness in IP reported that the Giant Squid, Luska was seen just prior to a mass collapse of these bases in IP and was apparently sucked down into the network of bases. This can only make one fear for Croatoa's beloved Sally!
Streets have collapsed leaving stranded people in their cars, small shops have suddenly discovered that old basement was really a secret entrance to some Supergroups hideout, and now they have a sub-street level shop!
We had a chance to catch up with Positron and Statesman early this morning and ask them what they thought of this disaster.
Q: Positron what do you make of this horrible series of mass collapses?
Posi: Well it was really inevitable you know. All these SG's around the city, I don't think the Government agencies in charge of super powered individuals ever gave thought to a need for zoning rights for (an ominous creaking sound is heard over the phone line)bases. 'Scuse me I err need to go look at (a loud crash is heard followed by muffled cursing) Gotta go *click*
Q to Statesman: States what is your take on this development?
Statesman: I really can't talk right now (crashes, bangs and thuds can be heard) I'm holding up half of the south end of the city *line goes dead*
Well there you have it folks our own Statesman and Positron on the current disaster affecting our beloved city. We also had a chance to Speak with Lord Recluse on the issue.
Q: Lord Recluse, as Supreme ruler of the Rogue Isles, what do you plan on doing about the recent collapses?
Lord Recluse: Doing? DOING? I will do NOTHING! These simpletons should have thought thses bases through a little better. Always trying to cut corners, instead of buying their building supplies from a reputable well known firm, such as.. Arachnos. Not to mention this is the Rogue Isles, the strong take what they desire. I foresee a large trade in used base items in the very near future.
The City works department is in an absolute panic as the number of streets that have collapsed seems to be increasing at an alarming rate. As well as the sewer and water departments sending out every available crew to try and repair water and sewage lines as soon as possible.
Stay tuned Citizens we will update you as things progress!
