Not sure that dark is best for this - pet gaze is weak. Now you do get a fluffy who likes to throw it, but did you consider TA or Rad with choking cloud? If you prefer the more control oriented, then yes dark and TA are good...
Also, I would suggest going Psychic and taking dominate... has a 1.2 acc rather than a 1, casts faster and is the first tier power in the epic set, so you don't have to waste a power on electric fence - unless you actually WANT e-fence for the immob... If you go TA, then do go dominate, and just take entangling arrow. Just a suggestion, your mileage may vary.
Otherwise, it looks like a decent build and you took the important powers.
Some power selection order suggestions are that I would say Howling could be shifted to later, especially if you want to get your travel power in earlier, but then I typically use it as a stun or a -regen power; rezzing is just a nice side effect. I would also say you could also hold off on Shadowfall - it is a VERY nice power, but it is very end heavy, so you might consider shoving it back until stamina hits... -
wrong ascii code, WRONG ASCII CODE!!!!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *gasp*pant*gasp*pant* HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! -
Really - must we talk about holding Vego's and Karl's "stuff"? That is just not a visual I am enjoying! Bleeaarrgghh... (Where is that 'Firin' mah lazer' ascii thing - it needs a Bleeaarrggghh in it...)

(Don't pronounce the exclaimation points, otherwise that's way too many syllables, and it's not a Haiku, and I'll have to kill myself.)
OMG my shoulder!
Meh, nevermind.... more laughing now! -
Be careful Karl! if you Hai-ku too hard, you might dislocate your shoulder!

Noooo!! Haiku is 5 syllables, then 7, then 5... try this
Stormy STF

Epic wind for all!
See? And yes, I *did* intentionally make that pun...
EDIT: Bah! I tried giving you rep so I wasn't a complete *****, but I am all out. So here are some cookies instead...*om nom nom*... errrr... ooops... I ate them all. Oh well. -
eeeeeek! I hope it all goes well and swiftly. Take a lesson from Karl Rove Man: pain pills are NOT breakfrees and should not be eaten as if you were in an arena match!

lol@Karl... for exactly the reason he said. OMG that was so fricking funny. He didn't mention that he was *on* Karl Rove Man with ALL of his bots out, which he ALSO dragged through 4 spawns of longbow. Priceless. Fo may be clustered in with the GoD, but Karl is his own OMGoD!

lol@fo for thinking I am in touch with my feminine side! I am totally NOT in touch with my feminine side. I, however, remain *female*.

lol@Sun Splitter for knowing how to use the word 'feelings' in a sentence...
and Beta - I am a chick. And no, you STILL get no love from me. -
lol@xoxman for skipping the second 'o' in xoxo... more kisses, less hugs for you!
....errrrr but not from me! :-O -
Gonna try out:
an Invul/elec tank
an elec/claws scrapper
No names yet - but possibly make the scrapper a tech origin and name him TENS Unit :-) -
Actually, my fav slotting is three lysozyme (+tohit debuff, +acc). Done. Gives you the best bang for your buck (and lysos are still by far very cheap as far as Hami-o - and just run a few STFs where you will shine anyway :-) Acc and ToHit debuff will be the most effective aspects to enhance, since Fluffy just doesn't have end issues, and recharge no longer helps him (the summon power recharges faster, but his rate of fire is unaffected). This is especially useful if you need slots in other places.
Past that, whatever 1-3 slots you like... common IO heals, holds, immobs, etc. or set IOs as you like. Again, best use for me is procs: I slotted him with the two psy dmg procs in the hold sets and the dmg proc in the immob set (yes, I am well aware they only go off when he throws the hold or TT - but he LIKES to throw the hold and TT). He will never be a high damage pet, but this gives him enough oomph to actually soften up a target for me. -

These SOOOO sound like masterminds: necro/anything for the first 2, merc/poison for the third...
Storm/nrg - all about the KB
Fire blaster... or maybe Fire Corrupter (fire/kin?) -
Lol@3Mile
What? He was funny... That's good enough! I don't have to give a reason! Dammit! Stop pressuring me!!! AAAAGGGHHHH! -
Quote:Not really. A poorly timed nuke, sure - but then ANY AT can cause a teamwipe with badly played powers. A defender nuke used to finish out a spawn is just great. Sonic, Dark, Rad nukes all have great secondaries that make any remaining mobs helpless (and I am guessing that the others do too). And though I LOOOOOVE the shadowfall/arctic fog/steamy mist thing, it is NOT the only thing you have done to keep the team alive - assuredly, by using ALL of your debuff/buff powers, that is only 1 thing helping keep them all alive. Dead mobs don't shoot back - so that nuke helps your team also!Suggesting a dark or a storm defender would want to nuke is a bad idea. 9 times outta 10 those toggles those defenders are using is what is keeping the team alive. Hitting a nuke during a battle with those toggles running (shadowfall/steamy mist, darkest night/AA) will almost certainly cause a teamwipe when they drop.
But it is also a play style preference. I don't like to nuke with a defender myself. I run 2-3 leadership toggles (not everyone takes these on their toons), I run my epic armor (likewise), I typically run hover/combat jumping (not all of my toons take these, let alone other players) and I run shadowfall/steamy (on the dark and the storm). For *me* it is a pain in the wahoo to retoggle, but I would NEVER say "never nuke" to any defender. I would say "INTELLIGENTLY nuke!" -

lol@Snappin for thinking that the M&M movie was about candy

I created a fire/kin corrupter named Uncontrollable Erg based not only on 1 Devo song (Uncontrollable Urge) - but ALL of them. His backstory was written using every one of the Devo song titles. Yes, I *do* happen to like the band ;-)
Darque Beast (my hubby) made Billion Dollar Baby after an Alice Cooper song (and dressed him just like Alice). He also made Mississippi Queen (WP/Stone Tank). A friend (@Halobender) made Ziggy Stardust (ill/rad, I think). -
So my recommendations for *playing* a D3/D4 (depends on whether you count defender as a 'D', or just the Dark/Dark/Dark, which I prefer) uses a somewhat standard Dark defender opening of Fearsome stare (even if they aren't affected by fear, they are ALWAYS affected by the -to hit debuff), tar patch and TT to debuff, control, debuff, slow, debuff, hurt and immobilize.
As a D3 you now have choices... a nice sequence for the CONE ranged choice: whip off the Nightfall, and blast away. Use the rest of the debuff/hold/heal powers as needed to keep you/Fluffy/the team up and running, but blast until your heart is content (and the enemy is dead). If the targets are tough, use Darkest Night and cast/re-cast Fluffy into the middle as an AoE. If things get hairy, use Howling for a nice stun, use black hole (be sure to warn teammates) and/or dark pit (especially in combo with Howling; however, this power is end expensive, slow to recharge and only mag 2 - may not be worth taking it).
A nice use of the MELEE ranged choice: run in with Oppressive Gloom running - lay down a howling or a dark pit (if you took it) to get a mag 4 total stun to get bosses if they are around - use Soul Drain to build up for Blackstar (nuke em all!), then Dark Consumption on anything left standing to get your blue back. Fire up OG again, and mop up with your single target blasts.
Since the melee ranged stuff works best with a large group (Soul Drain, Dark Consumption) use the toggle pull method to herd them (assuming you have no tank)... Put Darkest Night on a boss or LT and hide around a corner. Drop Tar Patch in the spot they are about to run through (they get caught as if it were... well... a tar patch >.< ). THEN TT, and move in for the kill(s).
Obviously you will find out what play style is right for you - especially if you have a dedicated partner/team - but this is a nice general idea of what I do with my D3 on teams of all sizes.
