Usually stay away from these types of threads, but what the hell...
Pickles - One of the best players and more importantly, one of the best people I know. The one person that never fails to surprise me. Orange Juice Jones, wow - just wow.
Fizzy - I never thought somebody could be happy all the time until I met you, it's impossible to stay in a bad mood with you around - no matter how hard I try.Don't ever change.
AA - My fellow thumper (some people are really gonna be lost). Great teaming and just hanging out with you.
Code Name Vengeance (Teach, Hak, PS) - You guys are a great bunch, never a dull moment with any of you around. Two out of the three of you have Blasters now, gotta get to work on the last holdout.
Mommy - A great person who I have tons of respect for. Always fun to play with and just talk to. I'll cya on Moonrunner.
Monkey - One of my best friends in-game. Probably wouldn't know anybody from CNV or Mommy if not for you. You've helped me with more problems than you really know. If you ever need anything, you know where to find me.
Ion - The original ninja exterminator.Always enjoy teaming with you, even if it's usually at 3am - too bad about that one toon though. BOXCUTTA 4LIFE!
QuiJon - A fellow Blaster and a great person. Never hestitate to read his books whic he calls forum posts. Laughed my [censored] off when I saw QJ Jr last night.
Vain, Anty, Foo, Irish, Enigma & Taxi - I know we rarely (if ever) team anymore, but you guys are great people and I hope you're still enjoying the game despite the drama of the past.
There are really just too many people so I'll just leave a shoutout to HDS and everybody else - you know if you're nice and if you aren't, I don't have to tell ya.
Last but now least, a MAJOR congrats to Slicky for the new addition. That's the greatest badge a person can ever receive.
OK, I'm gonna go kill something now. -

I really could care less that defenders are shaing their powersets with blasters and controllers.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is gonna be a bit nitpicky, but why is it assumed that Archey and Sonic blast sets were originally meant for Defenders? Ranged blasts are a Blaster primary, so whose to say that Blasters aren't sharing them with Defenders and not the other way around?
Told ya it would be nitpicky didn't I? -

Blaster changes are in I5. I PM'd Statesman specifically about that two days ago.
[/ QUOTE ]
Any ideas on how blasters are going to get FRENned?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope and until it hits test I really don't want to know because no matter what they are somebody is going to complain and I'd rather have that complaining due to facts over speculation. -
[ QUOTE ]
If this has been asked..then its a bump..if not..then here goes...
Wasn't the Blaster AT to be looked at as a whole for I5?
I seem to remember an entire blaster community clamoring for some love right before I4, and States answer was something like "Not till I5".
What good are the new powersets if the AT is still bad news?
Inquiring minds want to know.

BTW, new issues always come with power and ATs changes. -

To be honest, this is the second time someone has mentioned that I seemed like in a bad mood. Sorry about that - I really wasn't. In fact, it was my birthday that week and Philly is my hometown. My only stress was family related!
The worse thing about the show (if there was anything to call "worse") was that people were more interested in the NCSoft bag than City of Heroes!
[/ QUOTE ]
So that's what it was...
I was talking to you and it seemed you were very annoyed, so after I asked about 3-4 questions I just went and played with the COV character creator so more. -

Zeus' Lightning?
How'd States get a hold of that? Cole ventured "to the far east" and "unlocked his inner will" IIRC.
Which is it Manticore?
[/ QUOTE ]
If you are quoting the website the paragraph actually reads:
Cole claimed to have unlocked the power of his own Inner Will, an obscure explanation at best. Whatever their true origin, it was undeniable that Cole possessed something that hadn't been seen since the age of the Greek Heroes: superpowers.
Note the word *claimed*
Statesman was clearly obfuscating there. As time has passed and he has shown no signs of aging, more questions are being asked. Issue 2 of the comic will give more details about Statesman and Issue 3 will bring the loathesome Lord Recluse's connection into sharp focus.

From Dictionary.com:
ob·fus·cate - To make so confused or opaque as to be difficult to perceive or understand; To render indistinct or dim
Oh ok Manticore - now I got ya. -
Manticore posted he wasn't dead.
BTW, I had no idea Europe was that big either - I need to get an updated map. -
There's no way I'm not going to have both. I mean the trailer displays the advantage of having both - HERO-VILLAIN BASE RAIDS.

The irony... bablefish is blocked.
You know, I was going to ask if you worked at my bank, but since you can go there, I would say you don't.

Actually I went to Altavista.com and they use the Babelfish translator software. -
Got to the page - good ol' Babelfish page translator 4tehwin! Downloading movie now - thanks again KF.

Can't really get there either. The only reason I can post on the forums from work is because the filter acts weird with subdomains (boards.cityofheroes.com for example).
Thanks for the link though - I think I CAN get to the page through some shady means. -

We can attack from range. No, some of the scrappers can do that as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Scrapper ranged output is nothing compared to blaster ranged output, and scrapper range is at best half of the range of bread and butter blaster attacks.
Yes, some scrappers can do damage at range. No, it does not compare to blaster ranged damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's something I touched on in my thread.
It doesn't matter that it isn't exactly Blaster level damage, it's good enough to the point where a Blaster isn't needed. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
For someone to even make good use of these melee powers, they have to take the Fighting pool.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is bull. I manage just fine without the Fighting pool, and most of the */Eng builds that I've seen do so, as well. I haven't heard anyone make this assertion before, and it certainly doesn't match my experiences.
Now, if you were to say that good use of melee powers requires Stealth/SS, I might have to agree there....but so do Inferno, Time Bomb, Blaze, Firebreath (as an opener)...
[/ QUOTE ]
I've read plenty of people say otherwise. One player being able to do it is way different than the majority. Similar to the way some Blasters don't have a lot of problems post-lvl38 but the majority of others do.
Don't let your personal playstyle and build cloud your vision of what the majority of players experience. -
[ QUOTE ]
I went away from the computer to check on some CoV stuff and *wham* I received 5 or so PM's asking "what is the Blaster's role?"
Answer - Ranged damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks for the definition. Very much appreciated. However, if our role is ranged damage, why so much melee in the secondaries? Currently, the only Blaster secondary I will play is Devices because of the sheer amount of melee in other sets.
[ QUOTE ]
Now, the issue is more specifically - what does a Blaster do that a Scrapper can't already do?
[/ QUOTE ]
Currently nothing.
[ QUOTE ]
Or, even worse, is a Scrapper inherently "stronger" than a Blaster.
[/ QUOTE ]
In the game's current form - yes. Having Blaster damage with incredible defense makes them stronger IMO.
[ QUOTE ]
We want each Archetype to have a well defined role, and part of our Scrapper testing is aimed directly at this.
[/ QUOTE ]
I can tell you from experience that the Blaster's role of ranged damage is currently broken. There's nothing that we can do that another AT can't do safer than we can - that's just wrong.
[ QUOTE ]
Secondly, I have no intention of removing melee attacks - it's just a "perception" by some Blasters that some of the Secondary Sets aren't as useful as Devices or Energy Manipulation. This is a rather frequent refrain in PM's (and the occasional forum post). This is something that we should also explore...we want all the Secondary sets to be fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
Personally, most of the fun is gone when I have to venture into melee range. For someone to even make good use of these melee powers, they have to take the Fighting pool. No player should have to use power pools to preform their ATs role. -
-
With all do respect Statesman, the last time you posted about looking at Blasters, you said Controllers were in front of us - that's fine. However, now you're saying that Scrappers and Tankers are in front also? When exactly are the Devs going to actually take a look at Blasters? It seems we've had issues for quite some time, yet are being pushed to the back of the line in (terms of fixes) constantly.
I'm huge supporter of the Devs in most cases, but this and you're previous statements in the "Ask Statesman" thread are rather disturbing. -
[ QUOTE ]
Let us know when these people drive you insane from their utter lack of reading comprehension. The previous XP Range thread had you responding left and right to MORONIC misinterpretations of your very clear description. To the point that I can only think the ridiculous accusations were deliberate misreadings by people who didn't like the changes.

and trust me, there is nothing common or unheroic about taking down the hamidon.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, beating on a held foe that cannot retaliate and then squabbling over his remains is the heart of every good hero story.
[/ QUOTE ]
Funny, ain't that what Controllers do?... -
[ QUOTE ]
are you goin to address the issue of the tripmines being used to steal the hami's ? enhancments ?
[/ QUOTE ]
This is what really confuses me... Yes people do set Trip Mines and take enhancements, but why aren't Pets mentioned? Or Burn? Or nukes (Blasters and Defenders)? Or Spines and Claw Scrappers? - I've seen each one of them steal enhancements on a regular basis, but the only that gets mentioned is Trip Mines...
Here's an idea, if you see Trip Mines down, move away from them before the buds spawn... If anything, Trip Mines are the easiest problem to deal with... -
[ QUOTE ]
We have a number of options available. For example, "No Travel Powers".
Can "No Hamidon Enhancements" be one? Will Hydra Enhancements and such be negative factors to PvP players as well?
[/ QUOTE ]
A "No Hamidon Enhancement" option wouldn't work at all because Hamihancers buff more than one stat of the power its slotted into... If it were just one stat, an option like that could just cap the Hamihancer buff to that of a lvl53 SO, however this isn't the case... -
I find it sad so many people are willing to give up just because some people have special enhancements...
A Blaster with Hamihancers still has Blaster weaknesses... No matter how many Hamihancers I have, if I don't play smart, I'm going to lose - period...
I've played many games (not MMOs) which pit you against others and the one thing I've learned is that it doesn't matter what advantage you have on your side, if the other player outsmarts you and/or simply outplays you - you're going to lose...
An idiot player with Hamihancers is still an idiot player... -
[ QUOTE ]
I think people misunderstand why developers interfere and make changes. I could care less how fast someone earns influence. But I am concerned when someone is doing somethingg "unfun" in order to gain levels quickly and thereby bypassing other, more interesting content. Admittedly, "fun" and "unfun" are completely subjective, so people can disagree.
[/ QUOTE ]
That makes sense...
Btw Statesman: Go. Here. Please. -
Really don't know if I wanna post my pic, always felt a little funny about doing that...
