Ever found yourself struggling to find when redname said something.
Well, now, as well as keeping up to date with the latest Dev posts (Dev Digest, Community Digest & EU Dev Digest) via RSS feeds you can search the archive that powers those feeds, free from the pain of ending up at a deleted thread!
A few examples:
- _Castle_ talking about defiance
- Anyone talking about defiance
- That MOTD popup
- Dual Blades
- Dev nerfs

You're missing some Devs. See here.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nice compilation there .. hadn't seen that before ... the list of devs in the search options is pulled from those that have posted something that has been mentioned on the dev/community digest .. so any missing ones simply haven't had their name up in lights in the time that the CoH Digest has been running. -

WTF?
I don't see them in Firefox, but if I look at the revised City of Data using either Opera or Internet Explorer I see Google Ads. Which wouldn't be a problem, if it weren't the same two ads every time. One advertises cheats for sale, the other is an influence seller. Not cool.
[/ QUOTE ]
Odd they don't show up sometmes, never noticed that myself. I try to keep the ads at a bare minimum, and as out of the way as possible, and I think I've succeeded pretty well with having only a single ad placed right at the bottom of each page.
I can't pick what ad's show up -- I go with google ads because it works and doesn't take any effort on my part once it was set up ... that 1 ad banner really helps with the running costs of the server (about $25/month) ... short of running an on-going (and not necessarily successful) user donation campaign there's no way I can afford to run the site without them.
Especially so now -- as I'm getting married next Spring -

You're coming to Florida? I'll leave a bowl of peppermints out for ya. =^_^=

Aye, off to a conference there, DisneyWorld's not the worst place to be sent on business I have to admit
[/ QUOTE ]
I have a brother working at Disney. If your trip doesn't include Disney access but you have time and desire to go, contact me via private message and I can get you contact information so you can get in touch with him and get a daily all-parks pass.
Been using the powersets information more lately. Thanks for all the work.

Thanks for the offer; that's very kind of you. I don't have the time unfortunately; I'm much more at home in the Hotel bar anyway -

Red, are you going to update the database past i7? sorry if you already answered this.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would love to, but I think it would take a monumental effort to keep everything up to date without dev assistance. As it stands everything is accurate as of a given date, which is better than nothing.
I haven't completely given up hope of getting an update of some form from the dev's themselves, given how many long-standing, previously un-identified power issues the City of Data project indentified for them.
Failing that, I dont' see any faesable to way collect updated data unfortunately -

Also, the listing of "blueprint pools" is nice, but that black background makes it hard to read. =O_O=
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, someone else pointed that out on my forums, I'll switch it back to how I had it previously until I get a chance to take a proper look at it. -
I've posted up a fix for the pets bug; all pet powerset powers should now be displaying accurate numbers. I think the Mastermind summoned henchmen powersets need to use a different modifier, but that's something I'll have to look into when I'm back from Florida next week.

Two new arrivals in the City of Data today:
- Invention Set Bonuses (Pick a specific set bonus and find out which sets will give you that boost, and by how much)
- Invention Blueprint Pools (See what you could have won) -
City of Data (RedTomax, Iakona, Brev) has a bunch of information on inventions also.

Excellent jobYa know I was just messin' with you though, right?

Of course, but such comments usually motivate me to do whatever it is I've been delaying doing for whatever reason
Currently, inspired by the emergence of Mid's Hero Planner (which is the best hero planner to date imo), I'm doing some more work on my own. -

I love this site!!!!!. Have my babies?!?
No seriously, thank you for making this man your the greatest.
Btw, you probably know this, but when you look at the abilities of placement pets (Traps' pets, Dark Servant, Tar Patch, etc...) there's a weird error that doesn't show anything.
Other than that everything else is perfect.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've known about that problem for a while now, I just keep putting off fixing it in favour of more interesting things
Keep the babies, I prefer cash -

Gonna add an update for the STF?
I always keep your site up when playing the game...an excellent resource!
[/ QUOTE ]
As soon as it goes live I'll be running it with Red Tomax & my SG mates I'm sure, we've been looking forward to it for a long time now. So it shouldn't be very long after that until it gets on the site.
[/ QUOTE ]
Now, RedTomax...the STF has been live for a while now. Why don't I see under the task force list yet?
Just kidding with ya

Statesman's TF details now written up. My newest hero is closing in on Faultine level so hopefully that should follow not too shortly.
Also, in the middle of a major revamp of the City of Data (2nd Edition) (I particularly like how well the Base Items browser has turned out). As usual, a lot of the credit has to go out to Iakona for getting all this info to us in the first place. -
Congrats Beef. It's always nice when the CoH team take the time to recognise the efforts of community members. It'll be a while 'til I get to see your appearance though as I can only get the comics via the website.

Hot off the press: Invention Enhancement Sets

OK, one thing I'd like to get cleared up if I can...
Crash Cage - ParagonWiki says her level range is 20-24 and 25-29. I've confirmed, however, that if I did all her missions before 25, she didn't have any more after 25. Can anyone confirm if you don't do her missions before 25, will she still continue offer them in the 25-29 range?
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldnt' be surprised, there have been some very different ideas thrown out with the CoV contacts. I have a character at 24 that hasn't done Crash Cage so I will see if I can get an introduction to her after I've hit level 26.
Her broker goes up to level 30, so it is possible she has a level range of 20-30. -
Great Job Culex (and StarGeek) .. first time I've seen a comprehensive list of Damage Res & Mez Res for villains. I recall the beginnings of one a couple of years ago, but it didn't get far.

Any plans to add the Faultline series of contacts to the Zone Contacts section? I have a couple of toons who will be in Fautline shortly if you need any screenies of the messages you get from Temblar, Delilah, and Agent G.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am getting together with friends this Friday (provided I don't sleep through it this time) to go through the Faultline content. It should be added in the following weeks -- I generally try not to put content up on the site until I have experiences it in-game, the first time through anything is always the best.

Perhaps the guide should be linked from Help?

If you can get the required data from another source then it is a relatively simple process to build your own custom database (and be able to share it with others). There is a data model builder utility in the program which can parse CSV files to generate the data for the planner .. you give it a set of CSV files that contains all the required fields and it will output the necessary .dat files.
If you (or, anyone else for that matter) is interested in trying to build an alternative database using this feature drop me a PM and I will send you the CSV spec and instructions for using the data model builder. -

Oh, and incase anyone hasn't noticed I have a Character Planner in the works .. go download it and give me feedback to help make it better -- all the numbery-goodness of City of Data, crammed into a Character Planner. What more could you want?
[/ QUOTE ]
This doesn't take old Chott-planner files in import by chance, does it? *hopeful*
Will be checking it out over the weekend
[/ QUOTE ]
Afraid not. It's been built from the ground up based on the numbers from City of Data as much as possible:
There are 2407 powers and 13324 effects in the database.
Each power has ~ 30 attributes
Each effect has ~ 35 attributes.
From my vague memory of the old planner files there simply isn't enough data in there to replace the data from the City of Data project. -
