Quote:Hmm, and yet Thermocouples armour (which I checked last night, and it is Valk 3) does not have that lower plate, as can be seen here:It's all one page to me... my forums settings show 100 posts per page... it makes for a lot less clicking next/previous page all the time.
1. Yes they do come to a point up top (I didn't say that part was wrong)
The Valkyrie #3 are however a 2 plate shoulder piece unless I am missing something.
The Smooth are a one plate and that is why I think it looks like a hybrid.
2. If this piece of Thermocouple is any indication I think he could make some pretty sweet fire fx but hey as long as it works for you that is all that matters.
I was just pointing it out in case it was an oversight.
3. That's "udderly" ridiculous.
An oddity, to be sure. -

Quote:I've got to agree with Sam.Hmm...

Quote:I really think there should be another mission or at least another tut in gameplay to help people.
The very first time I played CoX, I spent a great deal of time creating my character and once that was done I was antsy to play so it was "Bah, I don't need no stinkin' tutorial..." and launched directly into the game.
I think it took me all of one minute to realize I was going to need a little information. So I went back and started from scratch and ran through the tutorial.
When I got my first piece of salvage, I was directed to the Auction House, where I found yet more information, and then later on in my career, I went to school. Just a few study courses, but a wealth of information.
If people are unwilling to read the information that is already in the game, why would throwing yet more dialog windows/tutorials at them make any difference?
There are spots where the information can be updated, and made more explanatory, but people complaining about there not being any help in the game, when they've bypassed most of it... -
"You may call her Mother-in-Law."
LOL
<wipes away tears>
And I echo Ice9's comments. -
Those are great sketches, Thornster, congratulations!

Quote:Nice try there...I hit 12 months vet award today!
Well, actually 2 days ago, I think the vet bug is still on the loose. Had to /bug the lack of badge, then got the badge....but just the badge....so I had to /bug the lack of sprints, costume slot, tailor token, and sands of mu/Ghost Slaying Axe (oh you crazy GM's and your literal-ness)
But regardless! 12 months! Anyone else a year old this month?
Otherwise...
Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy! -
That's great line work, Caem, and gratz on the auction win.

Much better sense of what's going on in the revision, Bayani. I can't wait to see the progression on this.

Quote:1. Yes, Thermocouple wears the Valk 3 shoulder pieces, and technically, looked at from that angle they would seem to have a point at the top of the shoulder. (Though not that prominent, and Valk 3 only have one plate.)Had a little more time now so I looked it over a bit more... I like that all the costume pieces are easily identifiable... the three things I would point out (thought they could very well be intentional design choices).
#1 Are the shoulder pads which appear to be a hybrid of the Valkyrie and Smooth pads set. They have the shape of one Valkyrie#3 but yet they are only a single plate like the Smooth instead of a double plate design like Val's have.
#2 If I knew nothing of the character and someone showed me this image and asked what kind of scrapper I thought is was I would guess Electric. Sure there are a lot of reds, oranges and such in the costume and atmosphere but I'm curious why a Fire/Fire hero would have what looks like electricity fx on his hand rather than say a fireball?
#3 You sit on a stool?
2. I noticed this as well, and BAKART told me that he was taking a few liberties. Thinking about it, I realized that fire is not always that awe-inspiring, and I look at it more as a plasma ball forming. I chose to not have it changed.
3. Yes, at work, I sit on a stool. :รพ
Edit: And no, I don't milk cows... -
Thanks a lot folks. When I happened across the artists, I was very impressed with his work, and even more impressed with what he did with Thermocouple.

Thank you!
What's really amazing, is that his prices are very reasonable for what you get. -
Quote:^^ThisI'd rather have a Samuel Tow-run character in my team, missing one Rez from an otherwise support-oriented powerset, than to have the average PuG-player setup as a "Healz0r".
Seriously, if I team with a character that skipped the ally Rez in their set, I'd have no problem with that, since we now have the ability to combine inspires.
How well they performed using the powers that they DID take would be more important. -
Outstanding read, Sooner. I like that you've expanded out into other members of Ghosts Reborn.

Quote:Actually, once I set my Desktop Theme back to one of the Windows standard themes, I never had another problem with Aero and Alt+Tab'ing again.Seemed so to me. I'm on Win 7 64-bit and it wasn't until I put on the OGL4 preview drivers that my Alt-Tab got working again. The issue seems related to Aero on Win 7. CoH turns it off when it has the focus and for some reason that was playing havoc with Alt-Tab. Now, it still turns Aero off, but Alt-Tab works and turns Aero back on while CoH is in the background.

...no, not like that, get your minds out of the gutter.
So as a tax season bonus to myself, I just got minor little piece of work of my Fire/Fire Scrapper, Thermocouple. Barely noteworthy really, but I thout you folks here might like to take a gander.
(clickme)
*falls off stool, stunned at how awesome this turned out*

Quote:Crim, my response was completely serious.I don't think you guys understand the seriousness of this. Its been in there for two weeks now. A customer I had at the time had the song playing in a loop with her other favorites. I was stuck working on that house for 6 hours. I ended up having to listen to that song over and over again sometimes hearing just random bits or muted through the attic. Man she had that stuff cranked to 11. The song is Bad Romance by Lady Gaga. That part of the song that's just nonsense keeps repeating itself over and over in my head. Even Blue October's Into the Ocean which normally will kill any song I've gotten stuck in there wont work on this one. That why I resorted to Ducktales and the other stuff listed above. They're normally things I try to get rid of. I figured I'd replace it with a lesser evil.

Welcome to the asylum, Black Pebble!
As for in-game advertising, I'm all for it if it's another revenue source, so I can get my Mutant Origin Booster Pack all the quicker.
Heck, I stop and read the billboards we have now in-game. If you marketing guru's (or theirs) could apply a new twist to actual product advertising so that it actually fit into the CoX world, I'd think that it would be a blast.
I can just see a hero running down the street in their "Hey! Kool-Aid!" temp power costume... -
That was great, JK!
"Non-contributing Zero!" LOL
Too funny. -
When the European and North American forums were merged, those with the same names had an _NA or _EU attached to their forum names to differentiate the two.

Quote:Cure for 'Earworms' (a song stuck in your head.)This isn't game related.
Have you ever had a song get stuck in your head? I've got one stuck and I cant get rid of it. Nothing I've tried listneing to will get rid of it. I've tried Numa Numa, Duck Tails, Animaniacs, and a few others and no dice. Does anyone know of a really catchy tune that I can use to get rid of this song? Its driving me nuts.
Pick a song, any song. Preferable something you like and that you are not likely to hear too often, if at all. This will be your 'Kill song'
Whenever you get a song stuck in your head, think/hum/sing your 'Kill song' and ONLY your 'Kill song'.
Repeat, if necessary.
I have never had to repeat my 'Kill song' more than twice. -

Quote:I get the same issue, but you should be able to enter the game in Safe Mode (check box next to 'I Accept' button on the second page of the launcher,) then change the settings.I posted about my issue in another thread, but i thought i'd ask it here too. Has anyone had the game crash on them when trying to adjust the Water Effects in Ultra Mode. Right now my settings are turned on at medium, and i'm unable to lower them. Each time i try the game crashes. I have a Radeon HD4670 1G DDR3. I recently updated my drivers to 10.1 thinking it would fix the issue, but it keeps happening. Any suggestions?
It's going to throw it into 800x600 mode, so I would click 'Load default' then manually change the Water Effects and probably your screen resolution, before restarting.
Also, you'll want to post your crash up in the I17 Bugs - Tech thread. Run CoH Helper and post the log with it as well.
