Quote:Not to mention there is a game box on store shelves that states that it is possible to go 1-50 doing only architect content. If they make that not possible, then those boxes sitting on shelves are false advertising and NCsoft can be sued. Somehow, I don't think they want to open themselves up to that.Yep, but it was also created with the goal of providing a roughly parallel leveling experience to doing "standard" content. Remove XP from the missions and not only will it directly go back on the design goals set for it, but it'll also turn the MA into another ignored niche.

*sighs as he falls in yet again, before vanishing in typical teleporty fashion*
You know, eventually you'll all get the point.

*throws explosive sheep at wolffe, the explosion knocking him into the pit* -
I'll get you for thiiiiiiiisssss....! *disappears into Pit of Death*
*reappears behind Shade, all teleporty-like* Ahem. *shoves* -

Quote:The heroine in question seemed content for now to just tail the fleeing vehicle. She was fairly proficient at it too, for the most part staying out of sight of the truck and not always the same distance from it. Just enough that she wouldn't lose track of it, unless it did something highly odd like teleporting.
Depending on which actions the hero (or heroes; it was quite possible that the second hero pursued the truck as well and just hadn't been noticed) now took, he'd need a contingency for each case. Good thing he'd brought along some help... -
"****.", the spined heroine commented, looking around for the truck now that most of the villains were down. The truck was gon- no wait, there it was. A couple of blocks away, and disappearing fast. She didn't bother informing the other hero that she was leaving since he appeared to have vanished anyway, instead just taking a flying leap down the road after the truck, up onto a rooftop. She then jumped from roof to roof along the vehicle's path, not keeping it always in sight but enough that she didn't lose it as she trailed after it. Something bigger than an average robbery was going on here, and she wanted to know what.

Quote:Problem with that was, people tend to spasm a little when hit with large amounts of electricity. This heroine, despite her healing abilities, was no exception to that. Which was a problem, as it sent her other power into uncontrolled bursts too. Thus it was, that as the electricity hit her she practically exploded with an omnidirectional blast of highspeed spines.
Then as she connected with him slashing wires along his shoulder blade his system over loaded and blast of electrical force released as he Short Circuited.
Whether or not any of them hit anything more important than scenery, she never saw as she noted the telltale signs of a wormhole forming around her. She closed her eyes to lessen the disorientation involved in being teleported. Her body would shrug off the sudden lurch of movement, but it never hurt to be safe. Opening her eyes afterwards to find herself staring at a dirty wall, she muttered something about cowards under her breath. A nearby pair of Tsoo looked up and regarded her warily, not really wanting to tangle with a hero right now. She just made a rude gesture at them before jumping, rebounding off the wall in front of her to take a flying leap over the building she'd been teleported past.
Landing neatly in front of the one who'd teleported her, she grinned. "Howdy, cockbite. Guess who's back", she commented, before lunging at him with the sharp spines on her arms. -
Great. So much for knocking the guy getting away with the stuff off his feet. ******* unreliable energy attacks.... "You take him, I'll get these other two idiots", she said, looking to Pious and gesturing at Wrecking Ball, who seemed effectively distracted by him already. She didn't bother with any more chatter, as the longer she took talking the more chance that truck would be gone. Which would be bad, so she decided it should stay here. To that end, she launched a series of spines at the back two wheels of the vehicle, hoping to puncture the tires so it wouldn't be able to drive off.
"Pssh, you think that's gonna be enough to tip the odds in your favor? Well I got news for you, mate", she scoffed, turning to Hotwire with a murderous look in her eyes before leaping at the unfortunate corruptor with intent to remove the villain's head from their body with one of the lethal-looking spikes adorning her lower arms. As she went, one arm swung in a wide arc in the general direction of Gravitatron, peppering him with a spray of sharp spines.
Meanwhile, Wrecking Ball would notice his reactions and movements seemed a little sluggish. As he pulled the spine out, he would likely find out why. The end of the spine, now stained red with his blood, was dripping what looked to be venom of some kind. The same venom that was now in his system, causing a feeling of numbness in his chest and slowing his movements.
(( Spines attacks do -speed/-recharge, remember?))
-
"Now that just won't do at all", the heroine commented, a little irritated as her spine deflected ineffectively off the man's shield. "Fine then, I can do the energy thing too", she commented before proceeding to do exactly that, unleashing some inner store of energy in a very loud and very bright fashion. Fortunately she didn't do it anime style, so rather than taking several hours it took a mere couple of seconds.
Glaring at the brute with eyes now aglow with a strange red energy, she raised one arm. Bracing it with the other, it sprouted a single spine wreathed in that same energy which then launched at near supersonic speeds at the brute's chest, leaving a glowing trail in the air as it passed. She could and in the past, had punched straight through the armor on a Rikti Heavy Assault Suit with this. So no pissy little energy shield was going to stop it, she thought.
The remaining energy, she gathered up into a ball in her hand before flinging it at the apparent gravity manipulator who was going for the canister. It formed into an almost blade-like arc as it flew, and should he attempt to dodge it could and would home in on him, up to a point. That done, she leapt again at the brute, both arms growing a full array of spines with which to turn his face and upper body into mince with.
(( That's Build Up, Impale and Energy Torrent, respectively. After which she's going for a Ripper. )) -

can we make all USAians speak/type in Valley girl ?.. -
I'm liking this a lot. More please

"Right, hard way it is then", the unknown hero laughed, obviously not as displeased at this turn of events as one might think she probably should be. A spray of those same bony spikes shot ahead of her as she rolled forward and sprang off the side of the building at not either of the ones that were attacking, but rather at the one who continued to flee. Behind her, the thrown car pulverised the roof edge where she'd been crouched only moments before. The lightning-wielder had more luck in that his attack at least hit her. For all the good it did. She all but ignored him, his lightning bolt burning a hole in the side of her costume and scorching the skin beneath. However, almost as soon as the energy discharge dissipated the injury was already healing. And at a more than respectable pace, too.
"And where are you off to in such a hurry?", she asked as she landed behind the fleeing brute, lunging at him with one of the razor-sharp spines that were now sprouting from both arms. "Party's back this way." -
Quote:Should join the Two Six, then. It was made for that sort of stuff.
I like running fairly heavy 'detective' plots. Though most of us don't seem to use it for that, lately. I blame Ninjin for disappearing for a week or more at a time and leaving us all hanging.

(( Ok, I know I told you ingame I'd probably stay out of this, but.... Inspiration struck. ))
Quote:People in silly costumes carrying stuff and bolting towards a truck, in Paragon. Yeah, that wasn't gonna attract a hero. Not at all. Except of course when it did, as a single precisely thrown spike of some strange material that might be a form of bone but was several times stronger and sharper than ordinary human bone would attest. Said spine shot most directly into the foot of one of the fleeing villains, pinning said appendage to the ground and effectively tripping the man up.The three figures hurried for a waiting cargo truck at the street corner.
Simple tracing of its trajectory would reveal its source - a black-haired and orangeish-brown-skinned woman crouched on the edge of a rooftop, holding ready an arm from which sprouted two more of the bony spines. Obviously a hero, if the black spandex costume carrying a green tribal pattern and trimmed with banded leather boots, gloves, belt and shoulderpads that she wore was any indication at all. Behind her, a cape of the same colour and pattern fluttered gently in the light sea breeze that blew past, and the odd greenish light that seemed to emanate from many regenerators hung in the air around her. "Now, how about you just put that stuff back before I have to come down there and really ruin your day?", she called down to them, in a tone that suggested she was hoping more that they didn't and she would in fact have to come down there.
(( Meet my first 50 in CoH, and indeed the first character I ever made. She's a spines/regen scrapper, with body mastery epic. Hence the spines being unnaturally accurate - she has focused accuracy, alongside a heap of IO set bonuses. And is an interesting scrapper in that she has more ranged powers than melee ones.))

My firefox does the same when I try to download. May, did you try just renaming the file to the right extension and seeing if it worked?
-
Yeah, I for one was never saying they don't happen at all. Just, to me it seems redundant to have one story on a forum thread and then the same story ingame.
-
No Wolffe, I'm on the Moon. Get it right, will you.
And incidentally, most of my characters on Virtue now actually existed in Forum RPs long before they were made ingame. -
Quote:That's debatable. I know it gives Grey headaches at least.
And Rebel's really good with the time travel one. -
Quote:Because NA characters who join an EU thread will be there for the thread, but not for the associated ingame events. And this apparently ruins people's immersion or some such.
Why over complicate stuff? -
About the only character I have that'd have any reason to be in the Unionverse to begin with is Paxtera, the time travelling peacebringer. Mostly cause she tends to see 'alternate dimension' and 'alternate timeline' as being roughly equivalent. All the others have little reason to leave their own dimension unless it becomes part of some plot or other and they end up needing to.
Also I actually vaguely remember that bit with your character in Paragon University. Was way before I joined but I'm one of those weird people who's actually read the entire thread.
Edit: Yeah, Devious explained it better than I can. -
Quote:Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.
more assimiliation-like
....had to, sorry. But yeah, I see your point. I should mention though that it goes both ways. If it's unreasonable for us to expect you to change, it's also unreasonable for you to expect us to change. -
Quote:That tends to be most threads at some point, in my experience.
or goesfruit loop crazy -
And I would then have to ask again, why have a merged forum at all if we're going to seperate into EU and NA players anyway? Just to save Paragon Studios the hassle of maintaining two forums?
