  1. Maybe what we should be awarded - in the future, of course, it's too late to implement this idea this time - is get Unlock Tokens for the Reward we choose from Events?

Example: I run the Halloween Trial. I choose the Murder of Crows CCE. Rather than it unlocking on that character, I get an Unlock Token under Character Items in my Email Tab good for One Murder of Crows CCE Unlock. Also, to prevent this being abused, there could be a twenty-hour or one-week cooldown period between me choosing a Reward Unlock Token and the next time that Reward Choice would be available to that character to choose. So, I could run one character through the Halloween Trial and unlock all the rewards once a day or once a week if I really wanted to - I wouldn't, but hey, this is by way of example.

This allows me to have that reward available to characters I have yet to roll, but keeps each reward to being one-per, rather than account-wide. Is this a decent compromise for the future? I believe many of us would LOVE to have something like this available, so:

    > To my fellow players, how does this sound?

    > To the Developers, does this seem a reasonable possibility for future events?

    Thanks for your time,

    Raven.

I'd prefer it was longer, myself. Halloween's my favorite time of year, and I'll be moving cross country as this event starts. Even if I wasn't, two weeks is too short. The Winter Event seems like it always gets extended, would be nice if the Halloween event would get the same treatment.

And as was already pointed out the so-called Mayan Apocalypse isn't intil 12 21 12. Also, one thing that the apocalyptos (people who's focus in life is the world ending - sad life to live, really) never mention is the calendar doesn't actually 'end' until 12 21 12 - of 3012*. So I plan to have a list compiled of apocolyptos to call up on 1 1 13 at 1 am in the morning only to laugh into their ears until they hang up.

    * Or is it 5012? I can't recall atm, focusing on food, and either way I don't plan to be alive at that time unless something goes wrong...

PS Awesome news on the CCE, definately going to be first pick on many, many alts...
  3. Quite possible the wolf is one of the rewards for the trial?

Ok, thanks for your response. If I make a suggestion in the future it'll be with that in mind. As for Weapon Auras, I have yet to give up hope on those, so I'll let you know if I have a brainstorm on that. I know you guys and gals are probably up to your ears (the ones on top of your head, I mean) in work at this time, but maybe some breakthrough will help with Weapon Auras and other things as well.

EDIT: Obsidius and Tunnel Rat, there may be a compromise here. Build more avatar replacements to be chosen from? That was kind of what I meant by throwing out the idea of the Igneous Magma Bosses as an idea, if people want both the old DE avatar for granite and/or others who want something ELSE, perhaps by adding more models both crowds could be satisfied?
  5. O.o I see that and want to punch it SO BAD. Coolest EB to fight yet (until we get to the Haloween event, which isn't starting soon enough - AGAIN. C'mon, it's my favorite event of the year, make it month long guys and gals! Please?)

As far as Talos-Sized Zombies goes, put me down as another VIP who says if these guys are intentionally massively HUGE, then leave 'em, they're awesome this way! And if they're a bug, leave 'em, they're awesome this way!

    Raven.

PS Not gonna bring an AR or Beam or DP to fight those either. Too tempting to fly up to look 'em in the eye and punch 'em from there. Because my fists are WAY bigger than my ammo...

Kinda thinking of playing around with enhancement boosters anyway.
I don't think highly of Enh Boosters but if you tinker around with them, I'll be interested in your opinion and/or results.

As to spending money to get less... I think that's kinda like Doc Brown's warnings about causing a paradox, or like something going faster than Einstien's Universal Speed Limit - other than neutrinos or bad news, I should add.

I don't see how it's possible, and it probably isn't, but I could be wrong. Perhaps they're saying because they keep spending money on content for CoH, they get less content from, say, Five Guys burger joints, or the local cinema, etc.?

EDIT: I should mention I ditched my visit to Five Guys this month for Street Justice and think I came out quite a bit ahead. Those of you who make pilgimage to Five Guys regularly probably have a good idea what I sacrificed, and so the comparison should be more meaningful.

As for needing to know that they feel badly about it, what the heck do you want? Should Zwill rub gravel through his hair on the next UStream?

This and Josh's replies led me to re-check the Freedom Official parts of the site. As I cannot find any mention of getting as many tokens at one time as you pay for months, I must retract my earlier comments and request, as well as humbly issue a sincere apology, as it does, in fact, appear I was misleading myself. I am very sorry for that, and will try in the future to check my sources prior to posting.

    • Points - The "resync" should be done by Feb. based off other player's interactions with support - is this right?
    • Tokens - Is it still the plan to chnage the sytem to reward all tokens for a sub on the first day of subscription vs. one per month the day before the next montly bill date?
    • Badges - The yearly badges - Will new badges be awarded based on pre-freedom "Played" time + Post- freedom subbed time, or just paid sub stime?
    • Is the bonus yearly token tied to the yearly anniversary badge?
As you have been candid with us Zwill, allow me to be candid with Paragon.

Concerning the part I red-lighted, it is a simple fact with bad implications for the future if Paragon feels comfortable with telling us details ahead of major future releases that they find out later they CAN. NOT. DO.

To Paragon as a whole. Either make sure ahead of time that you can deliver what you say you will deliver or DO NOT make it an Official selling point in the first place. This is the manner of all organizations with respectable reputations. Even then mistakes can be made, and I am not without understanding for this, but what can you do to reassure me about this not happening again?

This: Although I've never been forced to ask for this before, I would rather appreciate an apology from a Developer for saying that we would be awarded all tokens paid-for up-front and then failing to keep the trust. As I said, I do understand that mistakes are part of being human, but what seperates the sinners from the saints is the saints don't make these mistakes twice, and are sorry for making them.

In closing, I would be happy to forgive and forget, and chalk this up as an error in judgement - but for that, I need to know that you feel badly about it. Frankly, I'm not angry with Paragon. Just very, very extremely dissapointed.

Thought for the day: A broken promise is a lie foretold if inaction and ignorance are allowed to trump respect and honor.

I think I'd put Kinetic Melee about on par with Street Justice, but I need a fuller experience with the set to know for sure.

And if not for Footstomp, I think I'd consider Super Strength about on par with Street Justice.
As to the first part of your post, I laughed, since all I could think was that you had absolutely disregarded the ol' pink energy pom-poms of doom as weapons when you hadn't done so for summoned fire ice and stone shaped as assorted types of true armament. I laughed because it seemed so very appropriate to me.

As far as Street vs Strength, I really don't know if I can't put StJ on par with SS. I say this because at level 23 my StJ Energy brute is kicking far more butt than my SS Shield brute did. Like, a prodigous amount more. As that SS brute is now an incarnate it will be some time, a month or two, before I'll be likely able to compare them directly.

That said. I'll be curious to see the Pylon numbers for Street. There was some talk during the beta that the Pylon numbers for Street done there were seeming poor, but it was chalked up to not yet having cracked the code of a proper attack chain. Street was pulled before anyone figured one out, hence why I'll be watching closely for Pylon numbers to be posted.

  10. One other concern I have that I did not see covered: The Yearly tokens. I was due for my 60 month badge October 5th previous to Freedom. I got only one token today, not two.

Now, this may have been obliquely covered, since my best guess from what you said, is that I will get the 60 month and 5 year tokens in November? Or do I have that wrong, and if if so how?

EDIT: Also want to know - I may have missed this, pardon me, I'm very tired - but are we still getting multiple tokens all at one time if we pay for multiple months, and if so, how is that going to work?

Maybe I'm just not smart enough to figure out how to pay extra.
Nope, you're not doing anything wrong, we really ARE getting more for free now, Arcana, you may cease to pinch yourself.

I don't say this to flame troll or otherwise disrespect you but keep these things in mind about me.

    I am an alpha wolf.

I'm strong enough to run without a pack. I'm smart enough not to. And I'm worthy of my packmates respect. Some outsiders want to hate me, that's fine. I'm tough enough you can try to hate me all you want, doesn't bother me. Pretty much because I don't need you. Easier to hate than to respect and I love a challenge and disdain doing things the easy way. As in, I don't hate you for your opinion of me, I respect that you had the stones to say that. Not sure about your motives though but that's not my concern.

    * * *

Anyways, back on topic. After playing with Street Justice again for a day, and after reading Intrepid 13, I have to say, I can't wait to hit 33 and have all StJ powers slotted. So far I've loved this powerset at every level, and the power spikes at certain levels have been astonishing. It always impresses me how much of a game-changer it is to have Combat Readiness and a Finisher and then to get Spinning Strike. I'm sure there will be future power shifts as well, and I relish getting to those. I also look forward to hitting people with forty-pound hydraulic powered fists that resist smashing damage to the point that I have to up my game another notch or two.

One thing I wanted to ask: What has everyone rolled? I re-rolled my beta StJ toon, a Tech StJ / Energy Brute, and have very much enjoyed having him back. So, out of curiousity, what toons did you guys and gals roll? I'm also curious how StJ pairs with Shield, how has that worked for those who did so?

See some of you in game, look forward to hearing what people have to say about Street Justice.

    Raven.

PS, to Zwill: As tribute to your OP in this thread, my 7' tall war-robot's battle cry shall be For Great Justice. (Partially because BETTER - FASTER - STRONGER is too long for F10, but mostly because I hadn't thought about AYBABTU in years, was good to dust off those memories.)

    Apparently not.

To Arwen: You didn't bother me. You make sound arguments where others don't.

Last time I'm going to say anything on this, some of you shame me just with your proximity.

City of Heroes is a luxury. If you can't afford it, well, it's not rent. It's not electricity. Or water. Or gas, for your home or your vehicle. It's not groceries.

In short, it is not required. The Developers of Paragon Studios are here to entertain you. If you are not entertained? GO. ELSEWHERE. I cajole and nudge the Devs because I CARE. Because I LIKE this game. Because I am ENTERTAINED. Some here are whining to hear themselves around the silver spoons in their mouths. I am unemployed, and have been for quite some time. Times are tough. If you aren't tough enough to admit to yourself that you can't afford new toys?

Cry me a river. Preferably somewhere ELSE. I am tired of spoiled rotten little kids who are way beyond voting age. Either toughen up and be quiet about your toys being too expensive for you, or do like me, tighten your belt, get what you want, and let the rest go.

    QUIETLY.

Because CoH is a TOY. It is just a GAME. There is no excuse for all the infantile crying I see here (AGAIN).

    EDIT:
TO Zwill, I've said it before to you, I will say it again. On behalf of my fellow players MANY of whom are AWESOME (tm by War Witch) (not certain if I'm in that category or not but oh well, I know very well I can be a pain)?

I wish to apologize for yet another thread burned down by the bad apples. I am truly sorry. Again, props on the Zero Wing reference, and keep up the good work even when some days go south.

    Raven.
  14. You guys and gals do realize, that the price will stay where it is, right?

    You know why, right?

BECAUSE PEOPLE WOULD STILL GRIPE ABOUT THE PRICE EVEN IF IT WERE FREE.

We have people like that here. Some of them are in this thread right now. If this keeps devolving into a mosh pit over the pricing of new powersets, I ask the Mods to please lock it. This is MORE than pointless, it is OUTRAGEOUS.

EDIT: Lothic, I warn you, my head is a dangerous place to be, you should get out, and quick.

Having to pay for individual powersets in the Paragon Market is just a different formulation of the same scheme we've already had in this game. Paying for powersets is not a "new" thing - it existed long before the Market came around.
Frankly it's existed since Day One of City of Heroes, lest the drama queens forget.

I said and thought the same thing. Some people feel overly-entitled these days it seems.
  17. Paid for Powersets isn't new, folks. CoH, CoV, Rogue, ring a bell? Stop whining!

Anyone who whines about this is feeding us lies whilst pushing The Truth behind them with one of their feet and thinking we're going to fall for this drama?

No, sir. Time-out for those of you whining. Seriously. Check the drama baggage at the door.

EDIT: On a positive note, was WONDERFUL getting re-acquainted with my StJ / Energy Broot from beta again. I missed his 6-million dollar butt, SO GLAD to have him back. Props, Devs (which is rare coming from me, I know, but still).

And Zwill? I couldn't sleep due to your corny Zero Wing reference which was nearly plain as day. Awesome. That doesn't happen to me much anymore, a tally-mark for the cube wall, perhaps.

So let the countdown to Titan Melee begin...

Me, I'll be woopin on baddies with an overgrown cybernetic battle-bot, cheers!

On a sidenote: JetPack, reading entire threads is good for you. You'd have realized your behind us by aproximately five or six hours if you had. But, welcome to the discussion all the same.
  21. As far as the whole there will be no downtime thing I kinda sorta already covered that: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...&postcount=100

Also, after an extremely breif investigation of the announcemnt page that I performed seven hours ago, it's usually 10 am Pacific when the new stuff for the week gets announced. In all probability the powerset won't go live until after they clock in. Which isn't likely for another couple hours.

PATIENCE. We've waited over a month. Another hour or two will not hurt so bad.

It's been in the game code for a while. They have Street Justice and one or two other certain melee powersets already in the code. Type Rib Cracker or Spinning Strike in brackets in the ingame chat window to see what I mean.

This is also why there is no downtime needed for adding to the store, or WSTs, etc. It's called pre-loading or front-loading, it's 99% less prone to failure than asking us to download everything on release day.

Hoping I'm not violating any rules here...
  23. Unfortunately there's always a few bad apples in every bunch. The plural applies here, I've since been informed there's more than one person involved in this situation.

Considering he's merely informed people that their SG, VG, and character names are now his, and nothing more, I seriously doubt they've been taken out of altruistic motives - particularly considering the source. That I've heard of, those names aren't being given back. Also from what I've heard he's not trying to SELL them back, for whatever that's worth. I know people have been messing with him a lot of late, but responding like this is just proving them right. Frankly, I'm just glad he stays over on Exalted for the most part.

I was amused he thought little enough of me to grab my favorite names, which I take as a compliment all things considered. So I went ahead and rerolled some of mine over there - otherwise, chalk me up as another who's using Exalted as a Retirement Home.

One other thing I will use it for in the future is my personal testing grounds. To me Exalted is better than the Test Server: it has the same build as Liberty which means I don't have to download updates for Test and Live, saving me a lot of time. Plus, if I like a build I test out, I can transfer them over to Lib', so really, Exalted is a win win replacement for Test Server.

    @Raven Lord

    PS
As this is a forum post, I've kept my response to Valor as neutral as I can, since I'm not here to cause a fight, I've not named names. If this gets reported, in the end, it really only proves everything that I, and others, think and say of this person to be true.

So, to quote the party involved, please be a bigger person. Also to the party involved, as part of taking the high road, please release those names that have been stolen - which is what this was - to the people to whom they should belong. Thank you.
