    Ice/Cold Corr

Haven't played in like a year and a half. I have a lvl 50 and i'm wondering if it's worth it to IO it out or reroll it to fire or sonic /cold.
  2. Holy **** I remember you

Did you ever play with us when we did the pug 8v8's in pocket D like every night?
  3. The true problem in pvp stems from recent changes as well as problems that date back to the beginning of the game.
The biggest problem I have is travel suppression, the best thing about CoX is its fast paced nature, as soon as you strip that away the game becomes blander. Now I do realize that melee has a huge disadvantage in PvP which is why I think travel suppression should not slow down characters so much as to where they are practically at a standstill, but travel suppression should be by a decent amount as to where a melee character would be able to catch a caster. I also believe that melee should have no travel suppression which would fix some of the problems that they have now.

Status effects are another thing, why was this ever changed? What is the point in playing a controller anymore? I can only hold my opponent for a fraction of the time required to actually make progress and win the fight. Reverse this update, it was a terrible idea in the first place.

Heal decay, terrible idea. Blaster spikes pump out huge damage, when I used to play an empath it could take an infuse + a secondary heal on a teammate to prevent the huge loss of health that two fire blasters can coordinate. By nerfing healers you are not going to the source of the problem which is clear mind and other status protection skills. Clear mind is a ridiculous skill, it should have diminishing return, i.e. the first cast is the strongest, and every cast which stacks on top of the first would be reduced by a certain amount (i'm thinking it should be halved). By reducing this, you can have so much more variety in team builds because now hold become a viable option. Before you would never see a controller in a lineup unless it was an empath or a full ill/storm team.

    Now on to other things,
Remove the ******** that is the damage resistance. Devs: Oh your ice/cold corr wants to kill something in sirens? Here let's add a **** ton of resistance to every target so that you do even less damage.

Would it be so difficult to place an arena terminal in pvp zones?

PVP ONLY CHARACTERS - gives full access to all enhancements and the character starts at level 50. This would make pvp alive again, I guarantee it.

Corruptor scourge should start to trigger at 75% health

Holy crap, I haven't played in 2 years and I am coming back and they STILL have npc's in pvp zones? Yeah it is so much freaking fun to run into the longbow on my ice/cold corr and then get completely wrecked by them while my opponent goes afk in the middle of the mob.

Anyway this is just my two cents, I used to play regularly for LoT/LolVirtue (old redside ladder team) and at one point I was the 2nd best empath to play on Virtue (yea lol virtue, but whatever I am almost as good of an empath as manheim, who played on virtue and for velocity)

    DB = AR for melee.

What about a more aggressive and random zone environment?
<ul type="square">[*]Random, aggressive , non factional zone spawns: Imagine a spawn of Nemesis or Council ambushing players in the middle a PvP battle. (haha they aren't paying attention get 'em). [*]Weather and terrain should be a factor, just like in real war:
    - A heavy fog kicks in, slapping a hefty -acc debuff on all zone occupants.
    - Surprise ice storms with -speed and - recharge for the entire zone.
    - Quicksand patches, land mines, hidden freeze rays, pop up gun turrets..scattered through the zone, no one has any idea where they would appear.[/list]The environment not only becomes an active PvP participant, but also could be either your ally or your enemy. Since zones already are designed with some of this in place, it isn't that much of stretch.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If anything NPC's need to go

And the random zone weather thing is just ridiculous, I don't want to be in a fight and all of a sudden lose because I just got held or slowed by some random patch outta the sky.

And they need to reduce the timer on reputation - 10 mins seems like forever

I would like to see corruptors have access to some better APP powers AND I would like to see defenders have a better inherent than defenders now have. Scourge is AWESOME for PvP.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Sure, when it works, which is like when someone's down to about 25% health, which you have to get to first. hi, empath?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Would be nice if Corrs could start scourging earlier to keeping up with blaster damage

And DareCommando I'd recommend actually going out and pvping somewhere before you start talking
    Good game dude, srsly

Uhh sure you can get that character to max level in 1 or 2 days

But now go get all the elites and skills you need to actually be worthwhile to even use in pvp

    Its the same thing

Combat system has no relevance to what I am saying
Also you will have to explain to me how making a pvp char in GW gives you everything you could want in GW out of the pve
    It only gives you skills
PvE in guild wars is entirely different than the PvP in that game, you can't say that by making a PvP character you have done all that you could have wanted to in GW

    [/ QUOTE ]

the combat system has everything to do with it becuase in guild wars you at least have some goals on a pvp character (unlocking skills via balth faction).
and for the record, GW's pvp crowd is very small and very european.

    [/ QUOTE ]

uhhh unlocking stuff via balth faction is not part of a combat system its an unlockable system, and the pvp community is definately not small at all

    [/ QUOTE ]

have you ever played guild wars?

kills/runes/insigs is 90% of any encounter, skill is all in the build make up

youve also aparently never competed at the top teir of GvG or HoH, its always a battle between 2 or 3 big guilds (like the speamen in the summer of 05, they dominated HoH for a few months), sure people sit around RA/AB all day but it isnt PvP, thats an exaggerated place to test builds

    [/ QUOTE ]

uhhh okay, if you have ever been to hoh you would see the enormous amounts of teams there, also they have a full ranked gvg system, check out all the teams on that. I'd say its pretty frickin big.
i have played in top 200 gvg and used to run with a team that would hold halls, but the meta gets old really fast in gvg so i got back into coh and discovered i really liked the pvp here.
But in pvp its always a battle of the top two or three teams, you can say that for any game. Not really fair to bring up that example because they should be on top because they are good at what they do.
Skill is definately all in how you play, better players beat better builds, its just that simple

    7. The difficulty of leveling and equipping toons decreases the number of people who can get involved in competitive PvP. Make a paid PvP expansion where you can auto level to 50 and get unlimited loot for a toon, but can only play in the arena and PvP zones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That right there would kill any reason for me to play the rest of the game, I would just but the xpac, make a 50 of each class and simply play no other aspect of the game. The problem here is that, not only does it offer bad players the opportunity to jump into something they know absolutely nothing about (as they didnt have the 1-50 journey under their belts to give any amount of experience) but it would inevitably make things dull

    [/ QUOTE ]

It wouldn't really make it dull, you now have a character for the exact purpose of creation - PvP

Guild wars has had the option for making max level chars from the get go and thats why it has such a thriving pvp community. Honestly there isnt a reason that all games shouldn't have something like this. Not only does it make testing builds much easier, but if you need a kin and no one has one instead of leveling one to 50, you can just create one, fixing the problem entirely.
The majority of people who PvP can't stand leveling, because lets face it, the AI is stupid and it gets boring incredibly fast. This just lets people cut to the chase and get to the good stuff, the pvp
