  1. Okay, I'm totally gonna have to catch you in Warburg and take a screenshot now, just because you mentioned it.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
If you really wanted to go on the offensive you could have.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Tried. As I said (check the screenshot), I couldn't hit you. When you ran out of yellows and couldn't see me, you started hopping around. I couldn't catch up to you to hit you. Had you on follow with Energy Transfer keyed up (except when you went into the water because, as I said, I'm not stupid) and I was always JUST too far out of reach for it to activate.

And there's no animosity. I just found it amusing that someone who's known for his jousting techniques would criticise someone for being mobile. I'm not going to stand there and let you beat on me. You learned that lesson early in Siren's Call, and you starting being mobile as well. As I recall, your exact quote on the matter was "Pain is a good teacher." I learned the same lesson from the same teacher. Scrapping with a Scrapper is a bad idea.

So yeah, if you get the initiative on me, I'm going to withdraw because I'm at an immediate, clear, and often insurmountable disadvantage. Therefore it's in my best interest to cancel out your advantage as quickly as possible and attempt to re-engage on my own terms, gaining my own advantage.

PvP is about knowing ones strengths and limitations. If you, an SR scrapper with aid other, prevent me from landing my high-damage toggle dropper on you as an opener, I've little chance of surviving the encounter as you're able to simply withdraw momentarily and recover the small amount of damage I've done to you. However, if I'm able to land that attack, my subsequent attacks become easier to land and I've got a very good chance of killing you. As the scoreboard shows, it was a successful tactic.

And BTW, there's no need call iltat names. He's quite simply one of the most skilled PvPers in the game, bar none.

*edit* And also, don't take anything said in this thread personally. This is and pretty much always has been a pat-yourself-on-the-back thread. I wouldn't have posted about the victory if I wasn't proud of it, and I wouldn't have been proud of it if I didn't respect you as a competitor. Everytime someone brags about killing me in this thread, I take it as a compliment that they feel the accomplishment worthy of acknowledgement.

I believe the math shows that any Brute ont on DP can be two-shotted by EM/* stalkers...without inspirations. So Quason could two-shot you such that you won't have time to react. And since he can just wait until he sees your DP wear off by watching your HP meter...it's pretty much guaranteed if you stop moving.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can confirm that. Did it last night.
  4. He's right, I one-shotted him, for two reasons. First, critical hits (including assassin strike) are unresisted in PvP. In other words, I do full damage to anyone I hit. Second, I'd used a handful of reds first because there were other players, or mobs, or something around him (it's been a while back, I forget) and I needed to get the quick kill and get out.

    So... yeah.
  5. Anyone who's 1 on 1ed with Kagemon will find the conversation in this screenshot amusing. Particularly where he accuses me of running too much. This took place during a 10 minute arena match.

He'd bought a tray full of yellows to see me, so I bought a tray full of purples. I stood still and let him come close, then ate a handful of purples and ASed him. Got two kills like that before he ran out of yellows and I ran out of purples. Then we just ran around in circles chasing each other for 7 minutes without either of us landing a shot.

    Results:
    Quason - 2
    Kagemon - 0

Good match for 3 minutes, frustrating for both of us for the last 7.

  6. Couldn't find you anymore after that. Looked around and didn't see anyone but the blaster and the stormy.
  7. See, honestly I think balance starts to break down after level 30. After that, everyone starts getting those uber ZOMG powers that start messing up the balance. That's why I like PvPing in Siren's Call. Just MHO.
  8. Agreed. If it was an accuracy bonus instead of a to-hit bonus, that'd be one thing. But the additive nature of to-hit buffs make it WAY unbalancing.
  9. I dunno, I think the epics as a whole are retarded. They just break down the balance between the AT and homogenize everyone.

Scrappers and Tankers are balanced with a general lack of ranged attacks? Lets give them ranged attacks in their epics!

Defenders and Blasters are balanced with a general lack of damage resistance? Lets give them resistance shields in their epics!

Controlelrs are balanced with a general lack of direct damage attacks? Lets give them blasts in their epics!

    *spit*
  10. I think drawn weapons should get bleed damage on top of the small accuracy bonus they already get. Basically a DoT after the main attack like fire gets. That help balance out the tanker sets a bit.

Still not sure what fire and ice need.
  11. Myself, I get killed by solo controllers far too often to get any sort of god complex. Anyone that gets stomped so regularly by a single squishy has no right to have any sort of high opinion of himself.
  12. *shrug* Just relaying what Castle said.
  13. Stone dies pretty easily too if they don't have mudpots running. Damned autohit AoEs. Thankfully, those are supposed to be fixed soonish.

I have tried to sway your opinion with a few anecdotes from my experience, as well as a few numbers I crunched.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This was never a winnable debate from either side, and I think we all knew that. For any anecdote and number crunch one side can come up with, the other side can come with just as many.

Basically, you're never going to convince someone that's been killed so many times by a particular archetype that it's balanced, and you're never going to convince someone that plays the archetype and dies fairly frequently that they need to be nerfed. There's no solution to this that's going to make everyone happy. One way or the other, someone is going to be pissed.

    Any pointers?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah. Plan on doing something else for a couple of weeks after sunday, because you're going to be laughed out of this game for a while.

    - There is a similar little green arrow in the global friends window. Clicking this will allow you to see more info about your global friends such as: what server they are on, what character they are playing, what level, what archetype, and the size of the team they are on.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ...really?

    Okay, I didn't know that.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
it takes 6 for granite and 3 more for rooted which is not possible by 1 troller cause granite resists holds so they dont last long.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Saw it happen last night. Ask Belain.
  18. It'd have to be the same type - 6 holds, 6 disorients, 6 immobs, etc. And yeah, I have NO idea how Days accomplished that by himself.
  19. Takes exactly 6 stacked mezzes to overcome Granite Armor. Ditto Unstoppable and MoG. Basically, it's 3 mezzes to overcome any single status protection, and those three stack with the other status shields in the set for a total of 6.

(I lurk the Controller boards sometimes when I have nothing better to do)
  20. Ew. Arctic Air. Is that the power that keeps confusing me when I try to attack an Ice Controller? I hate that.
  21. Trust me, storm still works just fine against EA Stalkers. The fact that I can walk through hurricane doesn't mean I can actually hit you once I get to you. The to-hit debuff is still affecting me even if the repel effect isn't, and good LORD that debuff is massive. I slotted Build Up with three to-hit buffs specifically so I could hit Stormies, and I STILL have about a 25% chance to hit. It's nasty.

According to Nick Yee's Daedalus Project, 75% of the overall MMORPG playerbase currently does not enjoy PvP and 5% or less actively participate in PvP. Those are the numbers you need to change if you want the PvP portion of CoV/CoH to ever be anything more than a freaky sideshow.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe I'm not seeing the big picture here or something, but I don't see the problem with PvP being the freaky sideshow. I'm rather happy living within the fringes of the fringe of society. *shrug*
  23. Let me say this one final time and hope it sinks in.

FIGHT CLUB IS NOT MOVING TO THE ARENA.

    one more time...

FIGHT CLUB... IS NOT... MOVING... TO THE ARENA.

K, lets hope that little misunderstanding is resolved. Sorry to be snippy, but I'm tired of hearing this. FIGHT CLUB IS *NOT* MOVING TO THE ARENA.

    Carry on.
  24. Assuming since you mentioned a rock pet that you're refering to Warburg. The FC regulars were not at the FC in warburg other than karaza who was only there briefly. The rest of us were in siren's call. So I can't really speak for anyone who was there, I'd never seen most of them before. They seemed more interested in measuring their e-peens than they did in friendly competition and sportsmanship.

It's usually a bit more civilized at the real FC. Maybe try it there tomorrow night and see if you like it better.

Your analysis here is actually a little off

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're absolutely right, it was off by a longshot. I was comparing them at 100% base to-hit instead of 50%. I forgot about the reduced baseline in PvP. Thank you for the correction.
