many words. cheapskate corporate behemoth that outfitted my department with pc's from the jumkpile (true story honestly) therefore predating USB ports and apparently powered by overtired hamsters -
havi it already downloaded at home and had sepnt last night working through some builds. Unofrtunately the corporate behemoth i work for would send in the hired goons to work me over with a two by four if i tried to download it to their machines.
i was working with the ED slotting in mind last night although i've just realised that with the I6 end drop in powers a toggle heavy build is still goint to be viable. Huzzah
ooh my boss has left for the day, may be time to beat a hasty and sneaky early retreat i feel -
<in a Monty burns stylee> Excellent! i feel a nicely diverse well slotted devices build coming on.
only 45 minutes till hometime and then i can get planning (and servers permitting testing)
i'll post some details when i can -
well i was really losing heart with the whole devices set larely, but the replies here have opened my mind up to a number of attractive possiblilties
i always used to use mines as a nice surprise for mobs when hoversniping. set up mines, lay down some trops and hover above and snipe one mob in a group, then watch as the rest of the group run into melee range
i think the reason i've never really seen the fun in these powers is i was a bit down on slotting them.
Oh and i'm on union Doulos feel free to search me out i will likely need some tips for getting the best out of my rejigged devices. -

Set up a shed load of mines (3 dam 3 rec red) infront of a door, lay trops inside the door, snipe mob, hide, watch with glee as the Paragon Prtector bounces through the door, lands on the caltrops and proceeds to kill himself by blood loss from the feet. Some people go to the beach to skim stones, I go to creys folly to skim paragon protectors!

all i can say to that is
i prefer the personal touch with PP's myself, knock them down to low health then just as they go for Moment of glory Aim + Blaze and wallopunless i miss time it of course and then i'm the one going wallop, onto the floor

you won't be able to perma trop which is kinda fun. I've killed mobs with that!!! Make them run over trops for a few meters in an enclosed corridor... most amusing!!!

now that is a great image
hmm okay then caltrops with 3 slow it is, although i'll replace your web greande idea with Char from fire mastery epic pool (seeing as i've just picked it up
single target hold + DoT on a field of trops for extra DoT woo! i tell you woo! -
Okay, cheers for the headsup
thinking about it i'll probably keep caltrops and spec in smoke grenade (never used this before)
roll on home time - i've got some testing to do -
yeah that sounds similar to me, used fire breath loads in the early levels then forgot about it. decided to slot it up in later levels and suddenly discovered how useful it is
-
Hmm, i'm assume frost breath is the cone attack (similar to fire breath for me) i'd problably stick 2 slts in their to lift the damage. I find using an AOE/cone opener is a good way of either thinning or seriously injuring a group
-
Thanks for the responses
to be honest i've never really found Caltrops that useful but i may keep them (i feel an evening on test coming on to work through some of this)
fire is as far as i am aware pretty hoggy on both end and recharge times,
however with the end reduce we are apparently getting and one endred in each attack i think i can offset the loss of stamina and keep plugging away. 2 recred should offset the loss of hasten and although i managed perfectly well without this (only respecced into after I5 around lvl 25) i'm leaning towards the idea that with damage reduced i can compensate with faster cycling attacks.
to be honest i'm loath to drop any attacks as i like the options i have now. fire breath plus fire ball for groups with fireblast and flares to take down the stragglers. Blazing bolt for single target snipes, Blaze for the panic mobin your face moments and of course the hilarity that is inferno
getting a lot of nemesis at the mo so knock back protection is useful, but i share your concerns about the number of toggles (thinking maybe binds or macros could offset this)
Hmm so much to think about and test, curse you work for interuppting my planning/testing time -
Hello Ranger folk,
quick request, i've been working through some options for respeccing my fire/dev blaster and i'd appreciate any comments
can't post the build from hero planner as i'm supposed to be working but i'll give you the basics
Current build
Fire primary - all powers except rain of fire. Inferno 3 slots damage and aim 2 slots recred.
devices secondary - web grenade default slot, Caltrops 2 slots damage, targetting drone 3 slotted to hit buff, cloaking device 1 slot end red and trip mine 2 slot damage.
Speed pool - hasten 6 slot recred and superspeed deafault slot.
Fitness pool - swift, 4 slotted health and six slotted stamina
Flight pool - hover 1slotted for flight speed
Leadership pool - assault, 1 slotted for end red
Fire mastery - Char 1 slotted for hold duration.
New plans
Slot attacks with 3 damage, 2 recred and one end red
lose caltrops and trip mine from devices (i really get no use out of these anymore although i appreciate some people like them)
drop speed pool in favour of leaping (for CJ and acrobatics)
drop the fitness pool in favour of medicine
add a couple more of the leadership powers
so in conclusion i'm moving away from the Glass cannon concept and looking at a more team based slightly less squishy approach (a plexiglass rifle if you will)
comments, suggestions and open abuse always welcome
