Blind Messenger calmly watched as the buildings fell and the bunnies caused havoc in Paragon City. He watched a piece of debris come flying down at a citizen, and started laughing...
Except a spine flew through the air, attached to some kind of line. It wrapped around the citizen, and pulled him to safety.
--------------
Experiment 2.0, seeing a citizen about to be crushed, aimed his arm, and fired a spine. Attached, was an organic line leading from his arm, which made his spine a sort of grapple hook.
He caught the citizen and pulled him away right before the debris came crashing down. The citizen thanked him, and ran, as the spine came back to Experiment's arm.
"This is bad. How are we supposed to kill all these things?" Experiment muttered, stabbing a bunny. "Honestly, these guys like to swarm." He ejected two spines from his arms, impaling two bunnies.
Then, everything got darker... He could hardly move.
It was Blind Messenger.
-------------------
As Blind Messenger watched the battle, he could feel that everyone was having trouble. Experiment 2.0 was too into saving everyone in danger, Fire boy could not do anything to these fire resistant mammals, the thugs' bullets were being absorbed, the fire was not working, and the super strength Brute had his arms ripped off.
He decided it was time to help.
He aimed at the ground, as his zombies came to life. His three zombies minions started vomiting acid on the small bunnies, two Grave Knights came out of the ground, pulling out their swords, and massacreing the little guys, and an exact copy of Blind came from the darkness.
Blind aimed at the large bunny's head, and started shooting dark blasts. Then, he decided to slow down the rampage to calm down his "Allies."
He dropped a tar patch, and it darkened a large area around the bunny, and slowed everything in the vicinity. -
Experiment, while trying to shoot the Hydra, was hit by one of the attacks of the Kraken.
Normally, with his body armour, not much would happen.
Now, he was hurt. He got up, but found himself bleeding in the side. He pulled out his healing device... And saw the power out.
"Damn," he muttered, "I have to remember that this thing's energy supply is of no use."
However, the second he said that, he got an idea. Sure, it was a crazy idea, and it probably would not work, but hell, if these Hydra creatures were still powered, then maybe...
He turned to the battle, and shouted "Hey, anyone here have something that can get some sort of sample from the Kraken?!" -
Experiment watched in horror as the pedestrians died.
"Who the hell cares if they are real or not? If they aren't, you are lucky. But just in case, we had better not hit any more. Let me try this."
Experiment, after making his spines extract from he arms, he leaped forward, landed in front of the bunny, and stabbed. -
(( This is true. Even if I had my powers, I would not take the Kraken solo. Way too overpowered. Besides, since the Kraken is considered a Giant Monster, it would not matter what level you are. In case you haven't fought Lusca, a level 22 has the same challenge a level 50 does. ))
Experiment held the assault rifle in his hands as he exited the truck. He switched the gun to full auto, and made sure the ammo clip was full.
"Yeah, I know how to work this, I think." -
Experiment 2.0, in his normal correctness, decided to point out something.
"Well, to be fair, you asked two questions, and your first question was "Who is this bunny". Think about it. That is the first question you asked, then you asked the same question twice. You may not have meant to, but you did."
Yeah, he may be smart, but Experiment 2.0's intelligence has always been his downfall... -
Experiment looked out the window, dazed by what he saw.
"Dear god..." he said, almost to himself, "Where are all the villains going?"
He watched where they were running, to boats out in the water. Luckily, it seemed no giant octopus was coming out to attack them, so they were safe on that front...
However, he got an idea. "Hey, Langley," he turned to look at him. "Do you have anything in this truck which could help me follow those guys? If not, do you have anything anywhere that still works for transport?" -
Experiment turns to Langley, then looks out the window to make sure that nothing was giving chase. "Experiment 2.0, at your service. OK, one simple question. Do you have any idea who did this?"
Experiment just kept talking. He seemed to be the talkative type, but honestly, he just always wanted the "good guys" to have the advantage of intellect, tactic, and power.
"I assumed it was the Circle of Thorns, seeing as there were runes over the Walls, but since they seem to have lost their power too, it could not be them."
Then, Experiment caught himself. "Oh, don't worry about the help. Honestly, what are heroes for? However, with all this equipment, I hardly see how you need help." Experiment, looking back at Langley, realizes something. "...We are going to Independance Port, aren't we?"
Experiment remembered Independance Port, not because it was memorable, no, because of the giant octopus in the water. If Lusca woke up again, there would be hell on the waterfront, and if they were going to IP, he feared he may experience it first hand, and have no way to stop it. -
Experiment 2.0 watched the Trolls dully.
They were still strong, yes, but that didn't mean they were any smarter.
He saw the man in red and white huddled over a dying teen hero. And, strangely enough, he got very angry.
Not at the heroes, mind you. No, he was angry at the mage he had just seen decapitated. The mage obviously knew that the hero was weaker, could not put up a fight, but continued stabbing anyway. It was terrible.
But it was better than what was going on down the street.
A gang of Skulls and Hellions were duking it out, but they weren't disappearing, and going to the Zig like usual. No, they were bleeding, dying, shooting each other in the heart, stabbing the other in the stomach, and kicking dead corpses of enemies.
But Experiment was helpless. He could not possibly take them all, not without his powers. Being Security Level 30, if he had his powers, and his armour, he could probably take all of them in about 20 seconds.
Without his powers, he would be dead in 2.
It did lighten his mood, however, that the white and red clad hero was helping to heal the hero. It meant that not everything was lost.
However, when he heard the roar of the rare Kraken, he felt his throat clog with fear... The Kraken, classified as a Giant Monster in the Freedom Corp's files, like Lusca the Giant Octopus in Independance Port, and Babbage, the Clockwork king's pet, it would be a tough battle for anyone normally.
It would be suicide, however, with no powers.
"Hey, hero!" called Experiment, as he pulled out his healing device... Which he then noticed did not work. He put it away and continued. "Do you have any idea who did that?" Then, Experiment pointed to the runes on the War Walls, indicating what he was questioning about. -
Experiment 2.0 raises his hand.
"Yes. One question from me," said Experiment in an obvious British accent. "How did you manage to bypass the medical teleporter? In the past, only the Council, Fifth Coloumn, Circle of Thorns, and the Paragon Police Department have been able to do so. Could you explain how your method works?"
Experiment 2.0 hated not knowing something. It irked him that he did not know something, so he always tried to figure out what was going on, or asked people how things worked.
Right now, what he wanted to know was how a single person managed something that strong villain groups could only slightly mess with. -
After a long fight, which would normally end quickly if he had his powers, Experiment 2.0 felt exhausted. Those big blobs of slime that are the Hydra are very hard to fight hand-to-hand, Experiment had discovered. The hits just kind of get absorbed by their jello-like forms.
After resting for a while on the roof of a building... After climbing a fire escape... After running from some petty thugs... He spied a truck moving slowly through the area.
This struck the hero as... Odd, to say the least.
Not only was it normally annoyingly tedious to get a vehicle in here, it was a very bad idea, what with the creatures.
However, it seemed the creatures WERE less aggresive. They hardly put up a fight when Experiment had a go.
He decided to follow the truck, to see what was going on. He jumped from the roof, into flying position... Then slammed through a newspaper dispenser, right into the cement.
If it weren't for his training, that would have broken his arms, seeing as he almost landed square on them.
It did not stop them, however, from hurting like hell.
He got up, running to the corner of a building, trying to make sure he was out of sight as he followed the truck. -
After pacing around for about 3 minutes, trying to think of some way to gather heroes for a Circle of Thorns assault, intent on thinking that it was them, he got a signal on his Broadcast Transmission Piece. It appeared that still worked.
"Damn, I am hurt badly, dude." said a hero over the Broadcast.
"How badly?" replied another.
It appeared that they were in mid-conversation.
"I am bleeding. I never bleed. And the Medi-port thing isn't working."
This was bad. It appeared the Medicoms were not working, meaning that everything was going out. It was probably only a matter of time before the batteries in the earpiece ran out, so he had to broadcast something.
Before he could, however, another broadcast came over the others. It talked of a Warehouse in Independance Port where heroes were able to be helped.
"Hey, hero, did you get that broadcast?" asked Experiment 2.0.
"Yeah, seems helpful. Luckily, I took the Stamina pool."
Experiment had no idea what he was talking about, but decided to forget it. It was more important to find help. And Perez Park, what with the amount of CoT and other villain groups which may still have abilities the heroes do not.
He quickly found his car in the parking lot of the Paragon City Times building he worked at, and drove to the Perez gate as quickly as possible.
As soon as he got there, he flicked out his card to get in...
And saw the guards were dead.
"What... What the hell happened?! Weren't the Police Drones protect.... ing..."
Then it hit him.
The Police Drones must have shut down too.
This was bad. -
(( If we do not have enough by tomorrow, I will add in Blind Messenger as well. I know him and his personality pretty well. Sorry for the number mess up, by the way. ))
(( Edit: Wow, is it tomorrow already? OK then... ))
As the zombies ran rampant in the bank, the leader came through the vault door with a bag of money.
He wore an ornamental skull on his chest, bones nearly everywhere on his costume. A hood almost entirely covered his face, except for the mouth mask and the chains over his eye sockets. His skull shining slightly through the hood.
A gun shot whistled past him, as the P.P.D. ran in. They shot at him over and over, and if the shots hit, nothing really happened.
"Wow, this is easier than expected." Blind Messenger taunts with a noticable English twinge. It sounds like he is from Britain, most people say, but hardly any ever find out WHY he has an accent as a pure-bred american.
Just then, a fire blast whistled past. Blind saw a hero, clad in red and orange, running at him. He ordered his minions to attack, and his knights pulled out their swords, running to close range, as his minions vomited at her.
The minions burned in one fireball, while she had a sword-to-firesword fight with the other two zombie knights. She cut off the head of one, and plunged her blade through the stomach of another. After the undead freaks had left, Blind simply cowered in the corner.
".... Are you going to hurt me?" he asked, terrified.
"Does this answer your question?" she inquired, blasting him in the face.
As Blind fell through the normal darkness to the Rogue Isles hospital system, he felt an odd jolt, and suddenly had to regain his balance as he felt the ground rush toward him. He missed.
He landed on his back in an odd room, looking at about 4 people... then noticing a man in a chair. After looking around a little more, he spots Experiment 2.0 in the room. He decides, however, that if he has been brought here, then something big must be going on. -

(OOC: Since most of you seem to lose all your powers or retain all your powers, i think i'll go with a "mixed origin" character, y'know like Spider-Man or Wolverine or Batman. So by losing her "acquired" powers, my character is HALF as powerful rather than fully powered or powerless)

(( I have the same kind of thing. Experiment 2.0 has Dark Armour as a mutation, but his armour, devices, and spines are all from technology and science, hence, no spines, armour, or flight. Plus, he he can fight hand-to-hand, not very well, but enough to survive. ))
As the explosion went off, he felt his stomach drop. He could almost feel the pain of the heroes that died there.
He started running, trying desperately to use anything he learned to run faster, but it was useless. He was in Steel Canyon, he would need to run all the way to the Green Line then to Terra Volta gate. He could not help there, anyway... That is when he realized... He had become almost useless.
All he could do was make himself unhittable, and even that was not certain. Sure, he could fight, but that would not help with fighting flying Sky Raiders. And worse, because his metallic armour was gone, he would be hurt badly if he should get hit.
He needed some way to fix the War Walls, as he had noticed them a minute or so ago...
And if he trusted his instinct, runes meant Circle of Thorns.
But then, with this suit, and his lack of powers, Circle of Thorns meant death.
He needed help, but had no idea who to contact, as everywhere he turned, heroes were dying, falling from the sky, stopping dead, all sorts of things.
He was lost. -
(( I will only be using one character, because I know more of his story than all my other chraracters. ))
Experiment 2.0 looked around the almost deserted warehouse. He had gathered, long ago, that the Devouring Earth were annoying, but they were villains, which meant he needed to get rid of them...
Of course, with their swarms, it did make it rather difficult.
As 2.0 stepped outside, he felt his Dark Shield cover him, as a spine ripped through the air. He had been ambushed.
The hero turned to see 3 devouring earth that looked suspiciously like moving trees. He unsheathed his spines, and launched into the air. He swiped off the head (Or what appeared to be the head of these things) of one of the minions, and turned again. He launched, slashing quickly to lop off the heads of the last two.
However, he felt the air around him compact right before a large stone foot sent him flying into the side of a building. He looked up in agony at people walking around the office building, minding their own business.
Experiment hit the teleporter, and felt an unfamiliar jolt. He felt a falling sensation, before landing on his feet, in some sort of odd room. In it, there appeared to be two people already, and someone sitting in a posh chair.
"Uh... Right, well... Would you mind explaining why I am here?" -
Experiment 2.0 was actually having fun now. After smashing in a few more of the Family, his dark armour protecting him from the hits of the super strength Underbosses, he felt... Odd.
Just as he was about to finish off a Capo Gunner, his spines suddenly retracted into his body, and his red, metallic armour shut down. It folded away, his PDA turning itself off. Only the dark armour remained, and his fighting skills.
Experiment, after staring dumbly at the Capo for a second, did a roundhouse kick, knocking down the Family Member. Then, as an Underboss attempted to hit him with a bone-crushing attack, his weak punch did not even get through the darkness.
"What the hell? What did you do, hero?!" shouted the Underboss.
"Hey, don't blame me," replied Experiment. "I did nothing. Something must be messed up. Oh, and before I forget..."
*Smash*.
------------------------
As Experiment walked through the streets, in his old make-shift uniform, he thought about what had happened, not noticing the strange form of the war walls. -
Well, since people are now doing villains, may as well bring out one of Experiment 2.0's enemies.
Darb: "Helloooooo~! Welcome, Rogue Isles, to the show of villainous origins! Today, we have the undead scientist, Blind Messenger! Blind?"
B.M.: "Good to hear you, Darb."
D: "So, how did you find your way here, if you are blind?"
B.M.: Blind Messenger groans slightly. "I knew I should have kept my name to just "The Messenger", but it was taken. I can see when moonlight is striking me."
D: "Really? You can see in the dark?"
B.M.: "Oh no, a common misconception. I just have sight when the moonlight hits me. If it is particularly dark, I can't see at all."
D: Darb chuckles slightly. "So, in essence, you can never see?"
B.M.: Blind's voice lowers to a growl. "No, and if you ever mention my sight again, your guts will be all over the ground."
D: "Ah... Understood. So, what are you described as here?"
B.M.: "Villain." He then catches himself. "Oh, I mean a Threat Level 22 Necromancer with Dark attacks. I am also wanted by every organization with a thread of morality."
D: "So, would you say you are evil?"
B.M.: Blind starts to laugh histerically. "Hahaha! You... You think I don't consider myself evil? HAH! Oh... That is rich. I kill people, and make them into my minions. I steal people's souls to stay alive. Oh yeah, real goody-two-shoes right there."
D: "Well, to be honest, most heroes do that too."
B.M.: He stops for a moment, then starts to talk. "Well, yes, that is true. And Lord Darkity Darkness Evil Dude, if you are watching, why the hell are you a hero!? Come on, Bloody Bay was a bad attempt at heroics. My buddy is still missing his heart!" He summons his Grave Knight, the knight's chest cavity completely ripped out.
D: "Yaah! Send him back!" Then, Darb freezes. "...That looks like my Paragon City brother, Brad!"
B.M.: He sends away the minion. "Yeah. He annoyed me by interviewing 2.0."
D: Shrugs. "Wait, 2.0? Isn't he a respected hero in Paragon City?"
B.M.: Blind Messenger gives Darb an evil look. "You working for him or something?"
D: "No."
B.M.: "Experiment 2.0 is no 'Respected Hero' of anything! He is a self-loving fool who can not mind his own business!" Blind Messenger then looks around. "If anyone here goes to Paragon City, I have a rocket launcher that I would like you to take and kill Experiment 2.0 with."
D: "Now now, Blind Messenger, do not want to threaten heroes on t.v... Recluse doesn't like that."
B.M.: "So?" Blind Messenger snorts, and kills Darb with a skull attack. Darb then gets up, moaning incoherently. "Thank you for the interview. Now..." He starts shooting randomly into the audience with dark blasts, hitting people. One blast hits the camera, and everything goes to static. -
The lights center on stage, as the interviewer walks on.
Brad: "Good evening Paragon City. Today, we have a special guest, one of the heroes protecting our City of Tomorrow, please, give it up, for Experiment 2.0!"
The crowd cheers as an average height man walks out, his red armour reflecting, and his cape flowing behind him.
Brad: Putting out his hand to shake Experiment 2.0's. "Welcome Experiment."
Experiment 2.0: Shaking Brad's hand. "Glad to be here."
B: "Now, the question everyone wants to know, what are you considered in Paragon City?"
E: Gives a slight smirk. "What, other than a hero? A Security Level 30 Mutation Scraper, with spines and darkness."
B: Brad gives a quizzical look. "Earlier, did you not say you were made by Science?"
E: "Well, I do suppose it is a gray area," Experiment speaks in a strong british accent, "I am part Mutant, part Science, and part Technology. But, mainly Mutant."
B: "How is that so?"
E: "Well, I will not name them, god knows they get enough publicity as it is, but a certain company decided to kidnap me, and inject me with a strange substance. They said that it would 'Strengthen' me."
B: "And did it?"
E: He looks down solemnly. "Yes, but it also cursed me."
B: "Are you part Magic too?"
E: Exp. then looks up. "Oh no, not a literal curse. I simply had very bad luck afterward. My mutation came through because of the experiment, which took away my sort of 'sadness', if you will, and transferred it to a shield. Hence, dark armour."
B: Brad nods. "And the spines are also from the mutation?"
E: "No, that was the experiment. But that is not all it did. It raised my I.Q. considerably. I knew how to build, repair, and demolish things instantly. That is what helped me build my armour, my information terminal, and friend, all in one."
B: Brad then has a look of surprise. "Who is it?"
Experiment 2.0's wrist starts beeping loudly, and Experiment takes off his PDA. He then gestures to the small device.
E: "I created the Personal Data Advisor to keep track of crime in the city at first, then it appeared to gain a life of it's own."
B: Glancing at the small device, as it is put back on Experiment 2.0's wrist, then looks at the hero again. "But then how are you cursed?"
E: Experiment looks up, at the skylight of the roof, appearingly in thought. "Experiment 2.0 was their codename for me, but they were talking about Experiment 3.0 at the same time. Supposedly, something they could control. And for a time, whenever I used dark armour, I always felt a slight possession..."
B: "You mean YOU are Experiment 3.0?"
E: He shakes his head slowly. "No, I used the power of science to free myself of him, and sent him to the Ziggurat. However, he managed to escape, and is now in the Rogue Isles."
B: Smiles, looking to the camera. "Well, that is all we have time for today." He looks to Experiment. "Thank you for joining us."
E: He nods, smiling. "No problem. I need to keep busy somehow." -
I made an average size Thug MM, and the base is based off of a factory, with tech and Arcane and such, but when I put the podium down, for speeches and the like, my AVERAGE SIZE thug MM could hardly look over. And I must ask, why is the floor lower than the ramp in the podium?
I actually decided to turn it backwards, so I can see over. But that is not really a podium now, is it? -
Wow, even Blind Messenger's costume is better than some of those. Oh well, most of them included skulls, so everything is okay on the Messenger Front. Congrats to everyone who got in.
-
I would love to finally have Experiment 2.0 and Experiment 3.0 do battle! Their stories have been connected since CoH came out.
Then again, Blind Messenger is close in the running for Coolest Supervillain I Ever Made. Undead Overlord FTW! -
I may have found the reason they lag behind. If you watch when they start to run, they don't move for about 2 seconds. I can not figure out why, or if it is widespread, but it always happens to my thugs.
and I joined a team of 3 thug MM's yesterday on a Grab the Loot mission... And is it just me, or do thugs suit those missions perfectly? -
You know, I remember, on test way back in I4, when arenas first came out, Valdermic came and talked to some people. I think I have a pic somewhere... *Shuffles around in pockets.*
Hey, I wondered where that Dorrito had gone to!
Ah, here it is!
That demon? In purple? That is Valdermic. He was talking about some things... I think I remember him talking about that wierd room. You know, that blue matrix-room glitch thing that testers found? I saw some screens a friend took of his travels down there... Looked trippy. -
Sounds tasty. Call me with the recipe.
"Intestine & Tomato ala Meign"
"Heart tortilla"
and my favourite, "Nerd-back ribs." -
You know...
I always thought myself to be a true nerd. I am now trying to find music to fit my heroes and villains..
My self esteem went up about 1,000 notches thanks to this thread. Thank you, Tronguy!
And... Um... Whatever you do... don't... look... down....

Last OOC post: The heroes may want to introduce themselves now.
