  1. I have to try and get the word out to all new players. Don't be afraid to team.
I understand that all new players have heard from the veterans is that Blind Invites are comparable to anal [censored] and bring instant death!

The problem is the gross overreaction to this phenomenon.
We now have a new generation of players who are afraid to respond to team invites, afraid to invite other players, and afraid to start teams.

you don't know how many times I have played low level toons and spent hours standing around spamming LFT messages while all around me are tons of people my level standing around doing nothing and NOT responding to me.

the ironic thing is, the instant i say i am starting a team, these same people send me a tell instantly saying they are dying to team.

To set the record straight: When you read from the veterans that they hate Blind invites, they are talking about invites to people who have NOT broadcasted LFT messages!

If you are standing there spamming LFT messages and the guy standing next to you is spamming LFT messages, then FOR GOD'S SAKE, get together and make a team!!!
Time after time i have seen the same two guys who are the same level spamming LFT messages and for some reason REFUSE to TELL eachother!

This game doesn't always come to you! Sometimes you have to MAKE the game come to you. There is not always going to be a ready-made team for you to go to.

There are so many times when i see 4 or 5 people of the same level standing around spamming LFT messages and I am the one to literally say "hey guys why don't we start our own team?"

I understand that many new players don't feel comfortable starting and leading teams. I was the same way when i first started, sometimes i still don't feel like leading the team.

However, I want to see every player get the most out of the game and I would hate to see new players get a bad impression of COH because they spent an hour standing around spamming team invites to no avail.

Especially when you get to around level 16 or higher. At this point most players have found a regular group to play with and are not really looking for a pick-up team.

However, there are casual gamers like myself with crappy work hours who can't always play with the same people every time and who still rely on Pick up groups even at higher levels.

We need to stick together and make sure no Toon is left behind!
  2. First, i just want to say as the OP here that I almost want to cry because this is my first thread that didn't turn into a flame war and I wasn't ridiculed and had my feelings squashed like a bug!
I want to thank everyone here for the great memories! God i miss the 80's!

You know what? as much as i love modern day adventure/RPG games, nothing will ever take the place of my days playing PC text adventures. Enchanter, Zork(and all those damn sequels) and my favorite of all: Lurking Horror! Remember that? These games were not spoon-fed to you. They required you to think and to use your brain! Things most games nowadays Do not require at all!

Or what about the early D&D pc games like Pool of Radiance and the others. Those games were huge! and took months to complete. These were the days before eye-candy and video cards, when games were made or broke by the quality of the writing and the depth of the games, not by how many relections you can see in a characters bald head!

Who would ever have thought we would wind up here!!!
I remember being an arcade kid in the 80's when Gauntlet first came out! That game blew our minds! We were like "what do you mean 4 people can play at once? Are you serious?"

Now its "40 people can go on a raid? Really?!!!

Earlier today a friend of mine who plays World of Warcraft was trying to tell me how much better and more in depth it is compared to COH and how much COH sucks and i said "you can keep your crappy stock fantasy characters, I've got 3 completely different heroes, one of whom is a robot pimp with hat and bellbottoms! Let's see World of Warcraft do that!!!!!
  3. This was started in another post but I thought it warranted its own thread.

I am lobbying to start a series of clubs for veteran(i mean OLD) gamers. Here are the stats:

-If you have teamed at some point with 2 people whose combined ages are equal to or lesser than yours then you are in the Silver Club.

-If you have teamed at some point with 3 people whose combined ages are equal to or lesser than yours then you are in the Gold club.

-If you have teamed at some point with 4 people whose combined ages are equal to or lesser than yours then you are in the Platinum club.

-If you have teamed at some point with 5 or more people whose combined ages are equal or lesser than yours...well, just be happy you can still remember where the toggle keys are!
Seriously, if you make it that high we will invent a category for you!!!
There are other factors that apply:
-If you have teamed with someone the same age as your kids, then you are automatically in the silver or gold club(depending on the age gap)
-If you have teamed with someone the same age as your grandkids, you are automatically in the platinum club.

just so you young kids don't feel left out:
-If you have teamed with someone the same age as your grandparents you are in the CO4H Club!

Ok you all know which category you fall into, don't lie to yourself!
  4. ...or times when you feel like an old gamer!

-when you use a great and funny Star Wars quote that fits the in-game situation perfectly and your whole team goes "Star What?"

-When two people on your team, if you combine their ages, are STILL not as old as you!(if its 3 people then you are in the COH Gold club!)

-When you are playing an new AT for the first time and an 11 year old has to tell you that you are playing it wrong!(Nothing against 11 year olds, but at 34 its hard to take a lecture from anyone that young).

-When your teammate has to AFK because his mom is calling him for dinner!

-When your newbie teammate says its not really his game, his Mom just lets him play hers.

-When your teammate assumes your toon represents you in real life!(this is a good sign that they are a very young person)
This happens to me all the time, such as when a teammate looked at my toon PIMPATRON, a robot pimp and assumed I was black and some kind of rapper! Needless to say I was not surprised to find out this person was 13 years old!

Any of you veterans have any other good stories?!!!

And if any of you kids is offended by this, I'd be happy to hear stories about playing with us old folks(and yes in the MMORPG world i do feel old at 34!) LOL!

    Nice people

I just want to give a shout out to Sofaking Cool for bringing me over to Liberty in the first place. I was on a dead server and ready to quit COH but he helped bring me to where belong and also for hooking me up with his SG.

I also want to give a special dedication to the online lady in my life: Lightning Less!
We formed an instant bond my first day here and I feel close to her already. She made me feel welcome and I have not had a teammate who I could count on as much as her...plus sh'e damn right Sexy to boot!!!
