I'm slightly surprised by that, and then at the same time, I'm not really. Most of it is self explanatory, but the little things, like dragging missions about for testing really ought to be mentioned somewhere.
All that said, the folks who've been putting the guides and hints together are doing/have done a great job! -

You can move missions by clicking and dragging them in the MA screen. This way, you can play mission 5 as mission 1. Just remember to move it back when you're satisfied!

Really? Splendid! Thanks Mr Aardvark. Is there a 'manual' for the MA tucked away somewhere? -
When I make my stories I generally like to test each mission as I go to make sure the story holds together in a sensible fashion and to make sure there's no glaring mistakes.
This is all good and well when I'm only a couple of missions in, but when I want to test the final boss of the last part of a 5 mission arc, it's a bit of a pain having to test my way through the previous missions that I've already tested.
Adding the option to complete or fail the mission in progress to advance the story would be a boon and take loads of pain out of balancing mobs and bosses.
For example, in my arc, 'The Scent of Blood' (shameless plug!), The custom faction took tons and tons of tweaking to stop them being stupidly overpowered (the first iteration of them could kill you by just glancing in your general direction!) but as they don't appear properly until the third mission (the first actual encounter is an avoidable ambush after completing mission 2), balancing them has been a pain in the old buttocks. -

So these are the maps to avoid if you want a high rating?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nice list! I was wondering about this the other night.
Has a list of caves been made that lists every instance of the infamous 'Cake Room'? I'm sure being able to avoid that wretched pit of despair would see better ratings -

Will you take our word for it that it's totally awesome?

Too late GG... I'm back, for a month at least... and yes, it's pretty cool -
Damn you NC! Damn you!
*reactivates account*
To the mission thingy!! -

They also can't let trial accounts publish because it's an ideal place to put "buy inf now" messages. One posting that advertises equally on all servers worldwide, and stays up until a GM catches it? The unrated missions in the mission browser would be swamped in spam.

Well, I guess that's a damn good point... I'm still gonna sulk though

I had it up to here with that on WoW and anything that stops CoH going the same way is fine by me.

SpamMeNot works a treat for that. -

Three beers will actually make you happier!
I can afford three beers and the sub though, but I'm addicted and it's a constant pain.
Come to think of it: If they DO offer you a few days for free, stay clear of the game, don't get pulled in again!
[/ QUOTE ]
I've spent a week on trial, it's already trying to suck me back in... it calls in the night.
On the upside my neighbour gave me a case of beers for watching their house while they're gone... it's really tempting to fire up the old account... -

On the other hand, it's equivalent to about 3 pints of bitter, which would last no more than, and probably a good degree less than, a couple of hours. So instead of going down the pub at 8, resubscribe to CoX and go down the pub at 9.30
[/ QUOTE ]
Quite good thinking, though your calculations may be a little off, depends how badly I'm playing pool... there may be sorrows to drown -
[ QUOTE ]
There's a very simple reason why they don't want trial accounts creating arcs. Orphaned arcs. They don't want potentially loads of arcs uploaded by people who aren't going to pay to play the game...
[/ QUOTE ]
Hence my suggestion that they should have them flagged for autodeletion after 7 days... no more orphaned arcs.. simple.
[ QUOTE ]
...if they get the servers back up at all, that is!
[/ QUOTE ]
They still not up?! -
[ QUOTE ]
Maybe, just maybe, preventing trial accounts from rating other content would have addressed that issue.
[/ QUOTE ]
An elegant solution there Dave... my thoughts exactly, though I hadn't thought of the multi-trial upvote thing.
[ QUOTE ]
You DO have a legitimate account. So you should be able to do MA missions. Wait for reactivating weekend or pay for one month.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was hoping there might have been a reactivation weekend this weekend for the I14/Easter goodness... again, I am disappointed. I'm not going to renew my sub for something that might only keep me interested for an hour or two (like Spore... there's £30 I won't see again!)
/edited for reply @ GrinningSpade -
If I'm honest, my renewed sub was depending on whether MA brought enough back to the game to tempt me back.
Ah well... it'll be another £9 for my local. -
When I left CoX some 6 months ago for pastures green, I did so because I was bored, and because all my old team mates had one by one left for other games. I myself have spent the last few months running around The Other Game.
"Perhaps, when I14 goes live I'll start a trial account and see if it's time for me to come back." I thought.
You can imagine then, just how delighted I was to read the patch notes to learn;

Trial Account Restrictions:
Players using Trial Accounts may not access Mission Architect terminals. Trial Account users can be invited to teams that are using the Mission Architect Missions, but cannot create, rate or start any published Mission Architect Missions until they upgrade their account with either:
an online serial code purchased from the online NCsoft store,
an NCsoft Game Card (purchased from a participating retailer) or
a serial code from a City of Heroes / Villains boxed retail product.

Perhaps, instead of essentially ruling the likes of me out of playing with the shiny new issue stuff, trial accounts could have a 'delete after seven days' flag? I've got all sorts of complaints about the trial account system but this, the main reason I came back only to be told "we don't want your type around here" before I'd even logged in, well, it extracts the urine and no mistake.
Devs, this retired veteran (45 months!) is deeply disappointed in you.
*sulks*
/Edited for spacing... looks better now.
