(OOC: Yeah if i ever rewrite and publish this story i'm prolly altering this scene a bit 0_o
)
Chihaya noticed the nuns playing cards over...aw come on. Chihaya valued her life but this was just too much.
She tip toed over to the werewolves and whispered into one of their ears.
"You know those tears are fake right?" she whispered.
She probably knew this would start a bar fight, but she couldn't stand people placing so much value on what was probably just a flask of holy water...and that would probably be pushing it.
The barkeeper looked like he had seen a ghost. Well, he was terrified at least, and the entire bar suddenly went quiet.
"Look, if you value your soul or ANYTHING, you'll be careful mentioning that name 'round here. See, this guy is...well he's POWERFUL to say the least. Unlike this place or Hell, his realm is completely under his control. I heard he had some conflict with the Eyes of the One, and if you're powerful enough to do what he did to the Eyes, well..." the barkeep gulped, "I guess Earth had a good run..." -
"Bakagaijin..." Chihaya said, mostly to herself.
-
The entire group looked on as the car-thingamajig was somehow frozen AND on fire at the exact same time.
What a way to die... -
Ryuji held a hand up. The attacking 'car' suddenly found itself encased in a block of ice. Just in case, he had a large ice spike prepared.
"Sugoi Ryu-chan!" Chihaya said excitedly. -
(OOC: Basically as DeviousMe said. In addition to Tokyo Bay being attacked, which is going to happen while everyone else is in Side, Akihabara is toast. My recomendation would be for you to stay behind and help people move towards Shinjuku. By the way, the purpose of the attack on Tokyo Bay is to incite a response from the other nations of the world. In otherwords, Zan's trying to outdo the Rikti. He even has the advantage of numbers over the Rikti. BTW I really wanted to see some Rikti characters ;_
ZERO turned to Toshio, "Perhaps if you'd prefer...the Shinto mikos like Chihaya are quite adept at putting souls into bodies."
"Yep, sure am! And if I have the right ingredients, I can even build a working body! Heck, if I wanted to, I could get a lot of those materials around here....except..."
"Lemme guess: Phoenix feathers?" Sae said, as though she knew.
"Yep, suckers are tough to find. Luckily, thanks to Chiyoko, I know an incantation to summon Suzaku the bird goddess, but I still need some goofy scroll..." Chihaya said.
(OOC: Guess the easter egg)
-
"Y'know, he identified himself as 'Zan'...I think that's a little easier to refer to him as," Ryuji said, "I know if I was a transdimensional being of untold power I wouldn't want people calling me 'Zanny'..."
Meanwhile, Chihaya clubbed the mage over the head with her staff (OOC: Comedic, this whole RP has roots in anime/manga...) and said angrily, "YOU OWE ME POCKY!"
"I'd do it mage...the girl loves pocky," Sae said, snickering a little. -
Zanael watched from his private chamber. He didn't need spies!
His kind were omni-dimensional, and he could easily track his new play things wherever they went, and they'd never even know it.
Worst of all, since he KNEW they were gone, he knew he could push forward his attack. While he knew the Eyes of the One herself protected the Shinjuku area, her influence didn't extend to other parts of the metropolis.
That day, Tokyo Bay would suffer the greatest assault in its history.
"OOOOO POCKY! SOUL POCKY!" Chihaya said, staring at a particular food stand.
(OOC: Don't expect our main villain to just sit around and twiddle his thumbs...) -
"Reminds me of the time I went to Paragon City to receive my Rikti War Hero medal..." Sae said, glancing all around.
"Reminds me of the time my teacher sneezed and we ended up...actually I'm pretty sure we were stuck here for a week," Chihaya said.
"\So THAT'S where you went!\" Sae said to her. -
"First Class? Pfft, here we call them 'Green Cars'," Chihaya said, walking towards the train.
"\Eichiro, I need you to stay here and report on everything to the superiors\," Sae ordered.
"\Yes, Ukyo-taichou\," Eichiro said, and moved back towards the exit. -
(OOC: Wow he's the epitome of awesomeness!
...I hope Shinji comes back from his Chromehounds addiction soon...we need at least 4 people to start the first battle) -
(OOC: Yes Shinjuku is very much secured. And if a demon DID make it through, it'd definately be just a weeee bit more powerful than a shrieker. And by wee bit more powerful I mean more powerful than the priest-demons we encountered earlier.)
Chihaya informed Sae that she felt the portal end at Shinjuku station. In response, she ordered her brother and his band to step through and report for housing. With much groaning and a few cracks to the head, they finally agreed.
Sae was, as usual, the last one through the portal.
Watching her brother and his friends walk off, she approached Allen.
"Unfortunately there's a bit of a snag. We have to specifically request the trains be sent here from Nagoya, which requires filling out a lot of forms. And signing them. And stamping them. We're just lucky I have clearance..." Sae said. -
OK I guess I'll post my roster first:
Master: Annette Ogawa- Daughter of a millionaire industrialist and his wife who both died in the Rikti war. During the war, in the same accident that killed her parents, she lost the ability to walk. It wasn't a spinal injury, however. A Rikti weapon neutralized the synapses from her knees to her feet, resulting in the inability for her body to send messages or receive messages from the nerves below her knees. Thus, she is permanently confined to a wheelchair, as she also has a rare bloodtype that is incompatible with nanomachines used to restore these nerves. She joined the Trust out of interest of giving heroes a place to fight, to stay sharp should an attack of that magnitude occur again. Gladiators under Annette all wear a uniform that resembles a maid crossed with an Anna Millers waitress uniformed (OOC: Get it? Anna Miller, Annette? It's funny!)
Roster:
1) Tenryuu Reishi
Powers: Regeneration, Adaptation, Martial arts. Reishi has the unique ability to match or adapt to an opponents fighting style or techniques. Thus, she is virtually immune to all poisons, and resistant to the elements. She's not invincible, however. With the limiter in place, her speed is hindered, since it relies on her physical strength. While powerful up close, she possesses no capability for ranged attacks. Also posesses the blade Kamui, which requires permission from Annette to summon and use.
2) Igarashii Sousuke. Can impose his aura on other people, and detonate it. A simple touch, under normal circumstances, is as powerful as a cherry bomb going off. More aura=bigger blast. With the limiter in place, it can singe the skin and generates enough kinetic force to knock a person off balance. More aura=bigger blast still.
3) El Guapo Grande. Super strong, and able to use his inner fire to protect himself. Weighs close to 800 lbs of pure muscle.
4) Ukyo Sae. Gifted with the power of the Eye of the One. Able to manifest a sword and floating pistols that fire energy capable of stunning humans, and disintegrating demons.
5) Hyoumura Ryuji. Ice manipulator.
6) Nomura Tetsuko. Glasses-wearing tech junkie. Carries a high powered tazer as well as several other gadgets. Is capable of dismantling anything mechanical and reverse engineering it. ANYTHING mechanical. -
Sae was wary at first. She was worried about stepping through the portal.
"Where does this lead, mage?" she asked. -
"Well," Sae explained, "Most of the subways literally became worm food, there's only one servicable train line in or out of Tokyo, and it's in Shinjuku."
-
"We have to go..." Sae said, finally regaining consciousness, "If Zanael manages to reach it...like you said, our world would be gone."
"Besides, we face death everyday," Ryuji added, "We're no strangers to it." -
(OOC: It's chi-ha-ya, not chiyaha
chiyaha sounds like a kind of dog...)
"Well, my name is Chihaya, the big guy's Oda Eichiro, the little guy's Hyoumura Ryuji, our unconscious leader is Ukyo Sae, and the robo-girl is ZERO," Chihaya said, pointing to each person as she mentioned their names. -
Chihaya frowned at him.
"We just got through meeting the Eyes of what could be considered GOD and SHE told us this was big...I wouldn't be surprised if this Zanael guy invaded this 'Side' place and killed everyone there! All I know is we need to stop him, cuz we're apparently the only ones who can hurt him. You, me, that mage guy, Sae-chan, and Ryu-kun because Chiyoko gave us these nifty powers, Toshio-san because he has their power in him, and ZERO...well I can't quite figure her out."
"I can barely figure myself out. Whoever built me wasn't that doctor...and it wasn't Chiyoko. All memory I have before yesterday is completely gone, locked up in what I guess is the equivalant of a zip file or black box within my brain," ZERO said solemnly.
"\Hey you guys!\" a fat guy with unkempt hair, sandals, shorts, and a too-small T-shirt with some magical girl or another on it approached the group, "We're planning to move everyone to Shinjuku, Akihabara just isn't safe anymore. AH! Sae-chan! What happened?!"
This was Head Honcho, the guy who had single handedly built more than half of the mecha in Akihabara.
"\She's just tired\," Eichiro said, holding her in his arms.
"Well, my guys and the remaining soldiers are gonna begin escorting the civilians to Shinjuku. With Ginza cleared, it should be smooth sailing. Well, smoothER." -
"Probably because he's not exactly the 'Tommy' you knew before. The exposure to the demonic energies altered his genetic, astral, and transdimensional signal enough to where he is different enough to not be considered what he once was. Similar to how a slight genetic alteration can make a human into a Chimpanzee," ZERO explained.
"\Nice comparison,\" Chihaya said sarcastically. -
Chihaya dashed over to Allen.
"What's wrong Wan-chan?" she asked.
ZERO, Ryuji, Eichiro, and anyone else who could speak Japanese couldn't help but laugh.
(OOC: Chihaya basically called Allen a doggy, 'wan' is the onomotopoeia for a dog barking in japanese) -
Welcome one and all to The Millenium Arena!
This ancient battleground was recently reestablished and refurbished by The Arena Trust, a fellowship of influential persons intent on providing a place for solid entertainment, exciting battles, and LOADS of prize money! Not to mention the glory of victory!
(OOC: This is a reworking of the Coliseum RPs, with a bit of a twist: We have STRICT rules for play.
1) Each player (board ID) is represented by a member of the Arena Trust. This can be anyone from a company CEO, retired soldier or other military gig, or even just some kid that's really bored. Only restriction is this person CANNOT fight.
2) Each member of the Arena Trust has fighters under their control. The Arena Trust members are known as "Masters" and the combatants are "Gladiators". There's no limit on how many you can have, but try to keep it more than three but less than ten for simplicity's sake. Gladiators must be posted ahead of time. You cannot alter your roster after its been posted (Or, more specifically, you can't change it past the time the boards let you edit your post) so choose wisely. The only exception to roster alterations is if one of your characters is KILLED by another combatant. If your combatant is detained for breaking the rules, you cannot replace them on your roster.
3) Just because you work for a Master doesn't mean you MUST fight alongside the other Gladiators under that master's command. In fact, many Masters would be inclined to have their gladiators fight one another, since they would win either way.
4) Each Gladiator has an armband on that functions as a medi-porter of sorts. It also has the capability to teleport out at any time or emit a forcefield to detain the wearer. The medical teleporter is very quick and very advanced, if the combatant's life is in danger, such as being lit on fire or frozen in ice for a certain period of time, the porter will teleport them to the infirmary. Conversely, if the wearer breaks ANY rule, the porter immediately teleports them to a detention cell. Self Defense killings are also detainable offenses, as the medi-porters are capable of monitoring brain signals and auras, and are thus able to detect murderous intent and teleport the combatant to a holding cell to "cool down". Also, if ANY vital organ is damaged beyond a certain point, or if a limb is removed or anything else that would be hazardous to the health of a normal human, the combatant will be teleported to the infirmary. This is also put in place to prevent never-ending battles between regenerators. Lose an arm, lose the match. Pretty simple.
5) This is the most important: There is a limiter on the arena put in place to make arena matches more interesting. It limits kinetic and psionic force. So, while the character isn't PHYSICALLY handicapped, their attacks are. The ceiling is set by each match's GM, but basically think about it like this: if you have this explosive mega uber attack that lets you level buildings, you can't use it here. Since kinetic force is limited, if the ceiling is set to a low enough level, you could throw a car at a baby and he'd be fine. The limiter also makes it so bullets are the equivalant of rubber bullets, mostly to prevent death. Otherwise, one bullet and the battle is over. Hardly exciting.
6) If you remove your medi-porter, the system recognizes you as an intruder and possible threat. In response, the match is put on hold as all the combatants wearing porters are teleported to the infirmary and the arena is sealed off. If you're caught BREAKING a med-porter, a containment team is sent in and your Master is removed from the Trust. The medi-porters are otherwise invincible, however.
7) If your character wins the match, you are to be the GM of the next match. This means your characters CANNOT take part in the battle. This is to prevent one person from raking in all the victories. After all, the Arena is about attracting customers and making money, not just fighting and winning.
8) If a combatant gives up, they are allowed to leave the battlefield without being attacked. If they are attacked, the attacker is immediately sent to the detention cell. However, if another combatant is mid-swing or just fired a bullet and the target miraculously gives up before the attack lands, the attack is NOT disqualified. (What this means is if someone posts an attack and the next post has them saying "I give up" before the attack lands, the attacker is not faulted and the attack registers its damage).
9) Powers for combatants must be stated up front. And if a GM forbids use of a certain weapon or item for one battle, the combatant must comply.
10) Once a match begins, new combatants may not enter. HOWEVER! This is a large arena complex meant to attract vast crowds. Just like some music festivals have multiple stages and theme parks have multiple rides, it is possible to participate in a separate battle. There's always up and coming whippersnappers in the Amateur Division.
11) Battles can and will be rigged. Taking falls is not unheard of, as the Masters are constantly wagering money. If you want to arrange a bribe, use PMs. But be prepared to deal with the other Masters, as sabotage is not uncommon (If you sabotage, you must say HOW you sabotage a combatant, and it must meet GM approval i.e. no tampering with the med-porters or anything that could cause death unless you're willing to face the consequences. The Arena Investigation Team is quite good at their job.
That said, let's introduce our member of the Trust and his/her roster. I'll post mine after a post or two so it doesn't get lost in the explanation)
-
"\And I wouldn't want to blow you to smithereens!\" Chihaya replied, MORBIDLY cheerful.
Something about her voice said that she really would blow him to smithereens and not think twice about it. -
ZERO was above Oblivion in the blink of an eye.
"My systems allow me to compensate for damaged or destroyed weaponry. SoulSunder is...me," ZERO said cryptically, manifesting what appeared to be another SoulSunder, but which was, in fact, the same one as before. The two transdimensional blades slamming into each other had merely phased both of them back into the pocket dimension.
Instead of stabbing him, however, she would use a different weapon.
"Manifest Sealing Cartridge 10.934324534535353532224445. (OOC: I'm not typing that again >_>A.K.A.: Master Cage."
Her right arm became an arm cannon, similar to Allen's but again far different in nature. She fired the cannon. The nature of the cannon worked the same as her blade, with a different effect: If it hit something carrying the influence of the demons, it would bind that aspect of them to her pocket dimension. As Oblivion wasn't COMPLETELY under the demon's control, it would be like having your lower torso stuck in a gigantic bear trap. A giant ELECTRIFIED bear trap.
Chihaya looked fearful, and then hopeful, "\Wait! Chiyoko taught me this...unfortunately I can only use it once before Zanael's power adapts...\"
She held up her staff towards Toshio and chanted a few words. Toshio felt his body cleansed of the demon's presence, but not his power.
"\Think of it like a flu shot!\" Chihaya teased, "\Just don't get bit again!\"
(OOC: Sorry had to do that, if I didn't we'd have a huge plothole)
-
(OOC: ZERO's blade is her arm, there's no hilt. She's kind of like KOS-MOS from Xenosaga or Miyu from Mai-HiME/Mai-Otome)
"Foolish. This only damages things based on the frequencies present on the target's atomic, subatomic, astral, and dimensional properties. Your power is the ability to create something and have it happen the way you desire. However, you are no match. To be able to manipulate that blade to be able to hurt anything other than yourself, which you should start feeling now, you would need a Class 90 Processing Unit for a brain, as well as the ID codes and decryptions necessary to interface with the blade. In short, you would have to be me," ZERO explained.
Oblivion would begin to feel a burning sensation as he grasped the blade. -
"WARNING: Target classification redefined as Class SS Superior Extradimensional Being. Adjusting offensive protocols...SoulSunder blade now enhanced with Superior Extradimensional Seal energies," ZERO said, her blade changing to a brighter, glowing blue. The blade resonated on a frequency that would match Oblivion's. It was unknown whether it would kill or destroy him, but if he had a shred of Zanael's power within him, at the very least it would give him one helluva migraine
With astonishing speed, she was behind Oblivion, poised to attack.
