Unfortunately it's an independent comic, so I don't think it's with anyone 'in the industry'
But it's a good start! I need the experience anyway.
-
Quote:And to top it off, he has an awesome name! Thanks and he has, I call him "L'Abattoir" (Slaughterhouse in French)
Made him specialy to join The Court of the Blood Countess
Here you go, hope you like it and I hope I'm not hijacking the thread. -
I'm SO glad you like your picture, Dr_HR!
Quote:True, true. Their costumes were really awesome. But next year, I really wanna bring something special! I'm actually corresponding with someone on how to go about creating the electricity current on the juicer's shouldersAt the very least you lost to people who deserved it, instead of losing to someone who's related to one of the judges or something. But man, if that she-Freak pic is a sign of next year's project, you're gonna sweep all categories.
And your rendition of Dr HR's character there is bloody amazing, you can just imagine the harsh militaristic marching tune to go with it.
As for the Clockie code, jolly decent of you to want to try and give it to someone =D
(At this point I *could* make a request, but nothing specific comes to mind and I don't really want to trouble you ^^; )
Don't worry, go right ahead. Doesn't hurt to ask for a request!
Quote:I have a lovely picture of you attempting to cut the head off of a friend that I will post up in a bit. ;7 Totally didn't have a chance to see the thread before I left so had no idea who you were, but the whole Cape crew was impressed with the costume and were glad the Wentworths grabbed you for dinner
Hopefully I don't sound like a noob: what's the Cape crew?
---
Sharkbait posted his/her toon in a separate thread in this forum, and I just HAD to draw him.
I LOVE drawing unrealistically buff guys. lol
In other awesome news, I'm getting hired to be a colorist for a comic! Finally living a part of one of my dreams! -
WHOAH! He's awesome. What a badass design.
I'm really inspired to draw him...is that okay? -
You're totally right, Suichiro, and I definitely learned a lot. It was a truly enriching experience and I came out of it with a newer mindset.
Eddy - He was bombarded with costume-related questions all day! We talked about it briefly when we ate, but I didn't want to bother him with more requests. The poor guy had to at least enjoy his dinner.
Quote:I figured I do swooshy capes/cloths way too much, so I tried for something a little more...surreal? If that's the right word. I really hope you like it. He was so much fun.
If u get around to me i would like to see what u can do with this guy. background would be with one of the council symbols/flag in the background
just like to say that the work ive seen u do is awesome stuff v nice indeed
And a female Juicer Chief (those are my favorite Freaks!). Possibly a reference for next year's cosplay, but that's a loooong time from now. Also, female Freaks would be more muscular from all the Excelsior pumping through them.
Boring boots are boring, I know. should have studs or something! I'm lazy.
Also, sorry that the electricity is not on the rods. The reference I had showed it right below, and later on did I realize it indeed comes from the rods.
Oh yeah!
I have an unused serial code for a Praetorian Clockwork costume. I don't want it, and I'm sure there's someone else out there that didn't attend HeroCon that wants it. I don't know how I would choose which individual to give it to. I might hold a contest or a raffle or something. -
Yeah, Jay is pretty awesome. Love the guy. Sexy Jay is indeed very sexy. LOL
Hopefully people will post pictures! I'm waiting for someone to create a thread for it.I only took a couple meaningless pictures at the con myself so I wouldn't be in the position to create one with content. The other cosplayers were pretty good! I REALLY liked that guy in the top hat, medical mask, and black suit. He participated in the costume contest as well, but didn't win. I really wanted to know what his global name was...
I'm pretty sure I'll be going as be a female Chief Juicer from the Freakshow next year. Some guy was helping me a bit through going about the two electrical rod-things on the shoulders. It would be difficult to make, but the payoff would be worth it. I want to kick butt in next year's costume contest so bad! >.< -
Totally didn't win the costume contest, and I am suuuuper bummed, but oh well.
Better luck next year when I actually have time to work on my costume. LOL. I might do a Freakshow or something. Because the Freakshow is awesome, and I already have ideas written down.
After the contest nearly everyone I walked by told me I should have won. But the winners were reeeeally awesome, so I gotta commend them. I ate dinner with Jay (I think that was his name? He works with the concept artwork IIRC) and the group of Wentworth. Lots of fun.
I gotta admit, the expensive ticket was more than worth it. It's a huuuuuge blast. Oh my god. My brain can't handle it. -
It was sooo cool to meet TA! You're so nice
So I signed up for the contest. I'm suuuuper nervous!
I practically had a nervous breakdown at the beginning of the day when I first walked out in my costume. Haha. But people complimented me and I got lots of pictures taken. So I feel a bit better now, lol. This mask is suffocating too.
Aaaagh some of the panels were crazy exciting. Especially the concept and costume design one and the 'getting into the gaming industry one.' Makes me want to apply somewhere soooooo baaaaad. @_@
The costume contest will be held at...7pm tonight I think? -
-
Haha you guys are way too kind
I appreciate it though.
Suichiro, why must you always have to say such profound things?! ;__; Why are you so awesome!?
Now because of you guys saying all these wise things I think I'm going to enter the contest now...lol. Signups are still on Saturday so I'll sign up Saturday (tomorrow).
I'm in the hotel room right now with my friend Megan, who also plays CoX
I got a Villain t-shirt, 2 posters, and a Villain pint glass. Sooo excited!
Lol, the room service guy that gave us our food told us we were the first female congoers he saw today! o_o Although I've seen a couple other females.
Dr_HR - Wait, you're going to HeroCon?! -
Haha, thanks Eddy!
TA - Thanks so much! Although, I don't think I'll be entering the contest. I'm waaay too shy and my costume isn't interesting enough lol. If I had the ribs/spine and eye contacts, then I probably would be entering. -
I'm glad you notice improvement, even if it's a little! I've been working really hard at pushing myself lately
Quote:Cashoo i am just godsmacked...
Awesome and powerful rendering of TA and I absolutely love it.
I think i know what it is about your work that sets it apart. Your pieces are so beautifully emotive with even just your simplest of pieces. Normally a portrait of TA would be just a stance and a straight character reference to paint copy but you take a portrait of TA and turm it into a living picture. It's a rare talent for any artist and especially one that is as young as you.
I was surprised really to even see TA tonight when i logged in drawn by you because i thought i missed the boat. So excited to see it too. Love his regalness and the flowing cape. The bust almost resembles a heart too. The light reflection is superb, I can't thank you enough
I got to see that piece with you and your friends characters on DA. But again i'll just add that there is so much going on, you can just stare at it for 10 minutes and get something new throughout it. Love the contrast of scenes there as well and the impact of the color visually. Beautifully done!
That next pic is just so cool that it looks 3D. Love the posing and the grin on the face.
CandleJack is what everyone is buzzing about and with good reason, it looks like a character right out of "A Nightmare before Chistmas". Another piece that is sooo smooth. The light reflection is perfect and the pose and facial expression is menacing.
All around another great round of amazing art. Thank you for sharing your talent with us, for offering these free opportunities for us broke art collectors and for going above and beyond with each of your pieces.
Looking forward to meeting you at HeroConYou are very welcome. I was very excited to draw TA.
Thank you for the compliments!
Quote:Okay I haven't checked into this thread for a bit and OMG I have been missing out.
The TA piece is insane! Hell all of them are insane! I said it before but your colors and ability to show emotion is absofreakinlutely amazing!
I don't know what your plans are for the future but you MUST do something with this talent!
Well, I'm not sure what area I would go in...I like pretty much everything, so I have a hard time choosing only one.
If not, then I'm going to continue to pursue working in a morgue.
Quote:Wow I just happened upon this thread haven't been on the new forums much yet. I love the work you've done. It is very well put together and gotta love the color. Are you still doing more?
Quote:You have an amazing eye for color and lighting, and how it can effect the mood of a piece.
Have you thought about doing cover illustrations? I could easily see your work on a variety of comic book covers.
Well, it'd be a dream to do that kind of stuff! Especially coloring panels and covers. Not sure how I'd get into that business though.
----
This is relevant I guess. So far, my "finished" Vahzilok costume. I got a little inspired and got really custom with it, so it's more "inspired" than anything. lol.
I'll be putting a few blood spatters on my mask and arms once I get to HeroCon.
Eventually I'll be taking my mask off, because it's terribly hard to breath in.
Detail of the apron stitches, which are drawn with black sharpie, black ball-point pen, and white gel pen.
Next year, for my future cons, I'm going to make the spine/ribcage thing that goes around my back/chest. I'll also be getting contact lenses with white irises. I unfortunately didn't have the luxury of time this year, because I found out about HeroCon only a month ago. xD -
Haha thanks, the creepy guy with the rope is actually Candlejack from Freakazoid.

Wow, there are a lot of videos out there! Thanks for posting 'em.
Quote:I can't help but make a request as well. Great art and i really agree with Suichiro on all counts. Welcome to the forums!
For a quick reference check the link in my thread. I would have ya do TA of course. I have a bio up there as well. I'll post better references after a bit.
***EDIT***
OK sorry it took so long to get back to this thread but here is the screenies for good ole TA:
Also here is the bio for him and all the chat=racters relating to him - The Lord Of Valhalla
Some other things I've been up toooooooo
-
Wat. I thought it was going to be on Sunday.
Oh well, sounds like it was fun, and I hope you guys had fun too. -
Oh my goodness, this sounds like such a blast!
I'm terrible with control on my little arrow keys and my lack of right click on my dinky Mac laptop, but I'll just join in for the fun! I'll be the first to die -
Me! Any day, any time
Btw, I got the Ouroboros portal, if that helps any with getting that Vahz mission or something... -
Quote:OH my god, that is AWESOME. thank you so much for posting that. I'm in love. Haha, Clamor is GLaDOS.OOoooo, Nice.
Clamor's always been one of my favorite villains... probably cause of the Machinima version of "The Device Has Been Modified" with her in it.
Edit: Found it... Linky (lower quality version, but I couldn't find the original)
I wish there were more of those sorts of vids involving CoH. A Vahzilok one would complete my life...
I put that song on my iPod.It is wonderful!
Quote:That pile of sketches is surely the greatest booty mine tired eyes have set sight upon! Thar be rainbows and gold and zombies that vomit candy, I tell ya!
By the way, I got your payment a long while ago. No worries!
Quote:that is absolutely amazing work with those copics! It almost tempts me to get markers other then my grayscale set, but, alas I should probably refrain
Lol wow, thanks. -
Oh my.
Quote:(*attempts to put this derailing thread *back* on track!*)
I'll be glad to help you nom your birthday cake, Miss Cashoo! Those cherries look yummy! In fact, I will sacrifice my slender kitty figure so that you don't get chocolate all over your artwork.
You heard right! I'll eat the WHOLE cake so that Miss Cashoo doesn't smudge her artwork!
RAWR!
Well, I got Copic Markers for my birthday, and they certainly do live up to their reputation (and price! yeesh). These things are ridiculous. I swear, they are magical. They blend so well. It's unbelievable.
Anyway, I had a couple sketches from the night prior of Clamor and Bile from the Freakshow. I adore their designs. I decided to test out my Copics on Bile. I think I might color Clamor next. Sorry it's not much of an update!
Closeup of Bile
Sorry for the terrible quality! My scanner isn't compatible with my Mac, so I just had to take photos.
His body position is kind of derpy I know, I just wanted to draw his upper body design, lol. I kind of guessed on his metal arm. And his character has some INSANE proportions.Reeeeally skinny.
Since then I've been doing a lot of copic coloring, and I've gotten a bit better and I learned a few techniques along the way. -
Whoah, that's an interesting technique you use. Really cool.
For my inking, I lightly erase the pencil sketch (on regular printer paper), but not completely, enough to still see the lines and most of the details. And then I draw over it with a 0.3mm black pen (I found mine at a Japanese store where I live, it had a whole isle of pens. I dunno where they could be found elsewhere, but I'm sure they can be found online for cheap!). I let it sit for 15 minutes or so to dry, and then I erase any remaining pencil marks completely. And then I color it in with markers and stuff.
Afterwards, I go over with a regular black ball-point pen to bold in certain details.
This is an interesting thread, I'm interested in other people's responses too. -
My cake came out awesome! I'm so happy it did too, because I was rather worried in the process. It was sooo delicious. You can see my DA journal about it here (because, you know, cakes are totally interesting amirite?).
Dohoho.Btw, lovin that new avatar. I love that picture.
Oh, this cake was most certainly no lie!
Quote:Time, Pirate Cashoo? Is it really that time again? It seems as if you only just arrived. You've done a great deal in a small time span. You've done so well, in fact, that I've received some interesting offers for your services.
Happy Birthday Cashoo.
Quote:Hey now, whatch the "middle aged" comments!!!
(Pauses to go yell at the kids walking on his lawn....))
Ah-hem. Now where was I?
Oh yeah... Happy birthday, kiddo!
Hehe, thank you. -
Haha! Interesting that you ask.
I'm not sure, but they looked middle-aged. Some of them definitely looked like they were still living in their mother's basement. I'll probably see them again next year. *shudder*
Quote:lol BW!
A very happy birthday to you Cashoo!! Welcome to your 18th year!Hopefully it'll be a good one.
Quote:Happy birthday, Cashoo! You don't look a day over 300. 350 max.
You are an undead pirate from the early 1600s, right? Thanks!
-
As of today, I'm 18! It's about time! I'm baking myself the cake from Portal. So much fun!
Quote:Man, that bites.Pretty sure it is.
The hats are also male only (with the witch hats being female only), which really sucks cause I really want to make a "turn of the century" era character, and the Renegade hat would allow me to come somewhat close to these.
I LOVE the idea you have though! That would make for a really awesome toon.
Quote:I just want that coat for my female characters >.< Sadly, much like the male sit emotes for characters like my girl Terra would wouldn't be caught dead in a skirt, it'll never happen :/ But have a great bday Cashoo!
Thanks!
Quote:That is a wicked looking update to Cashoos costume. Yeah the boots are hard to resist too.
Uh oh PC is gonna be legal in two days??? You all KNOW what that means right???
RIGHT??!??!
No seriously someone tell me what it means I gots ta know!
Have a great B-Day Cashoo and gratz... we talking 18 or 21 here?
I have no idea what it means, either. Absolutely no clue. Nope.
Quote:If her DA page is up to date, 18...
As for what exactly that makes her legal for... Errr, voting, night license in some states and.... errr... being hit on by dirty old men?
Quote:Dont be silly! You can get hit on by old men much younger then 18!
And if you were in Australia You could go get drunk legally
At any rate! Happy birthday cashoo! (whenever it is)
Thank you Eddy! -
Haha, thanks. I'll try.
Quote:Great art as always.
Doc Brainbleed looks kind of sad to me - as if he's having to destroy something he'd rather not. I think it's mainly the eyes and the darkness around them but the pose too makes me think he's less than gung-ho about what he's doing.
I think this pic of Cashoo makes her look more wicked than any of the others I've seen. Not that there's anything wrong with thatI didn't think she was walking, more posing for effect.
And I'm glad that you dropped the peg leg, at least for this costume. Dead I can overlook... Slivers in weird places? No thanks
And a legal Cashoo? Something tells me that could lead to trouble.Happy Birthday Cash!
Thanks! Yes, Cashoo is pretty wicked. I was very sad to drop the peg leg, but those witch boots were way too perfect, especially with the bat wings coming out of the side.
Oh! For those that have bought the magic booster pack...
Is the 'Occult' design male-only? I was very sad to see that I couldn't put the really awesome skull design on one of the capes of my female toons.
