  4. Pole Arms

  5. My current system as it stands is:

    Processor: i5
    OS: Win 7 64bit
    RAM: 4 Gigs
    GFX: Nvidia 260
    Power: 800 Watts
    Mobo: Asus
    Case: Antec Nine Hundred Two

Now, I bought a Geforce GTX 295, What I want to do is this.

I want to make my 260 my dedicated PhysX card, and have my new 295 be my dedicated gfx card.

Can I do that? And... Does my power supply need to be bigger?

You can argue semantics as much as you like.

In normal content, there is no way to get to 1-20 in three hours...Not solo.
It wasn't PL. It was on CoV. Under 3 hours. The 50 was for travel purposes only.

    Just keepin it Real.

There is no way to go from 1 - 20 in 3 hours solo. And I see I am not the only one to think you're more then a little full of it. Then again...look at your reputation.
Oh wow, I missed you. Always taking digs at me, like it's your personal past time. <3 You are just the most awesome human being ever, everyone should be just like you. <3

I am sorry you can not achieve this, but I can. I can go from 1 to 20 solo, while porting myself around with a 50... (I guess its not a classic solo... but still I am the only one on the team that is human.)

Maybe, if yanno, you were a nicer person I would bother proving it to you. But, yanno... with all your responsibilities being the nicest human being ever... I won't bother clogging up your schedule.

PS: I havent played the low level content in this game for OVER 1.4 years, because I am bored of it. But, I assure you... The last time I did... I broke just under 3 hours.
I only remember because my husband reminded me... we were racing <3 and was fun.

I will simply restate that in my opinion, it is better to wait and see for yourself than to rely on someone else's projections and reccomendations. If 'you' want to go with them, go right ahead. It's 'your' money, it's 'your' game experience. I personally am going to do exactly what I said I would do. You can quote Positron in every reply from here to next Tuesday, but I am still going to come to my own conclusions based on my own personal experience.
I thought this guy in this thread was upgrading. So, I tried to assist him in upgrading his computer.
IMO, if you have the money now... Go ahead and upgrade. And if you can, go as high up the gfx card ladder as your money will go. All it will do is make a better gaming experience.

As I understand it there are some cards out there, that are getting older by the second, that likely will not be able to play UM on even low settings.

Rather than this guy purchase a subpar gfx card when he actually is shopping for a card, it would be better he be armed with information that could help in his search for awesome gfx?

Unless your graphics card is obviously ancient and dying, there is absolutely no need to get in a tizzy over ZOMG Ultra Mode right now. Wait and see how your current system will actually handle it, through your own first hand experience rather than projections, before you feel the need to rush out and buy a new card.

ESPECIALLY if you don't know computers.
May I ask what exactly your problem is? I am totally missing how you think, after reading all they have said about Ultra Mode, how it isn't anything like playing the Regular game on maxed settings... It is beyond the game currently on maxed settings. Which is why they call it Ultra Mode.

I don't think CoX gets kick backs from Nvidia/ATI if our Devs suggest to us what WILL play Ultra Mode on High Settings.

So when one of our Devs, at the time the Lead Dev says,

    Quote:
After demoing the Ultra-mode at HeroCon, one of the most frequently asked questions we have been receiving is “what are the video cards you recommend to get the most out of Ultra-mode?” With the holiday season coming up, we asked the programmers in charge of implementing the features of Ultra-mode what they would recommend. We would like to forward this information on to you so you can better work on your holiday shopping lists.

If you are looking to spend under US$100, then an NVidia 9800 GT is your best bet. For AMD (ATI/Radeon), we don’t have enough of these cards at this price point to get you good data. This would be the minimum card for enabling all the features, only at reduced quality settings.

If you are looking to spend between $100 and $200, the Radeon HD 4890 and GeForce GTX 260 will do you well. We don’t have numbers from the Radeon 57xx series yet to verify if that is better or worse though. This would end up somewhere in the middle of Ultra-mode quality.

Finally if you are going to spend over $200, the GeForce GTX 285 is an excellent choice. We don’t have numbers from the Radeon 58xx series yet. This would be able to run Ultra-mode with the quality maxed out (except we have no data on Anti-aliasing, so caveat emptor when it comes to that specific feature).

Note: This is based on our current internal testing and might change by the time Going Rogue is released. Also, a video card is not the ONLY thing you should take into consideration. Your PC having a decent processor and memory will also enhance your performance. As we continue to test and get more information available we will update you. I hope this helps, and happy holidays!
Do you honestly sit there and think they are going to HUGELY lower Ultra Mode? What would be the point? Why not just call it "Ok for the graphically challenged Mode"?

I was at the understanding that they are doing Ultra Mode in the first place to attract new players with higher end systems. And to make current subscribers with high end systems happier with the graphics of this game, as they are apparently dated.

I have not said GO BUY NEW CARD, what I said and gave BUNCHES of links to show what I am talking about is, to get medium quality graphics on UM, go with the Nvidia 260 or equivilant.

The reviews give it a 6/10 from Eurogamer.

People on the forums here seem to like it. But, they like it in the beginning, will they like it in 6 months? Time will tell.

Side note: I am sporting a Nvidia 9500 and see no major changes.
TBH, My love for this game must blind me to this games age.
I went from a 260 to a 295 and I just look at the graphics as being pretty damn good for this game.

I have played other games with different graphics and I hate their gameplay... Their shiney graphics dont add up to a pile of doo... cuz I dont stay subbed to their games...

Earlier in this thread I have a bunch of links about graphics cards.

    Here click this one.

    :edit:

Is that your way of thanking me, for the CO thing? Your welcome. I dont like to see people waste their money on something, especially when you could save that money for a better graphics card.

  16. We agree that "to each their own" is a style of play for this game?

Well, last few times I wanted to actually play through the content offered in this game at this point, I just dual boxed the content... and not really how that sounds.

I log on a 50 with recall friend... and eliminate the travel time in the low levels... Nothing makes me feel LESS super than being slow as hell. Just because I am a low level super hero doesnt mean both of my legs are submerged in mud.

So, simply by removing the slow-butt travel I shave ALOT of time off the leveling pace. (I DO NOT have the 50 play the content thoe, unless is a badge mission)

Also, I tend to team alot, and my teams dont usually mind getting ported to all the missions for times sake.

    How?
    How?
    How?
    How?

Those are the fastest easiest levels in the whole game.
  18. I like 1 to 20 for the first 5 or 6 times through it, after that I pl my alts because A) It gets old fast and B) No stamina = endless grind and C) hate hitting rest.

YES I KNOW I WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!

I am holding on to hope that this expansion will NOT just be 1 to 20...

Takes me under 3 hours to play through those levels solo... 3 hours.

It is two entirely different cans of worms.

I can play the game NOW on a laptop and get no lag... So what?!

By your logic, I can do it now... Whats the problem?

I was willing to layout as much as 2000.00$ USD for a gaming laptop to be able to play Ultra Mode on High settings.

On my home PC, When I had the Nvidia 260 I could play the game fully maxed out, now.
Now doesnt really matter. Because when Ultra Mode comes it will be more graphically intense. So I upgraded to the 295 for Ultimate performance.

You may not care what Posi says, but considering he has more knowledge of Ultra Mode than anyone on the forums, I feel I can take him at his word. I didn't end up buying a new laptop, he saved me 2000$.
  20. Is there a size limit on the homemade cards? Either a width limitation or a height, or for that matter a weight limitation? I need to know soon.

I have read and re-read the rules page, and I am apparently BLIND and can't see if it says those things. I read that the digital valentine has size limits... did not see a limits for homemade.
  21. Just move your characters you never play anymore to some server to be your trophy case...

We have free server transfers til the end of the month, you can do 6 transfers per week.
  22. My husband has the ATI 5870 gfx card, I just personally dont like ATI... I chose Nvidia everytime, 30$ bucks just doesnt bother me.

We do know. Positron said for the holidays if you are upgrading, then buy THIS...

The only person who doesnt know... is whoever choses to not believe what Positron said.

Frankly I dont know why you are arguing everything I have said in this thread is a FACT.

If he is upgrading he should get an Nvidia 260 because it is far better than what he was talking about.
  24. 6200?

You really should think about upgrading, I dont think you can play this game on "low" settings with that card.
