    Ooops... forgot to mention that.

    And ex libris before Posi!

... yet you want to affect paying customers too.

If they're camping names, damn right.

How do *you* know why I have level 1-6 characters? Some are RP (level doesn't really matter to your typing,) some are concepts I want to try, but am working on other characters, some are spur of the moment. But they're *mine,* and I'm paying for them, so tough.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I said "for the sole purpose of camping names". In your example you're actually playing. Name campers are not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Tell me what a name camper looks like. Really. I'd like to know. Because so far, it sounds like they look just like me sometimes when I get a bunch of great ideas for characters that I create and play through the tutorial and maybe street sweep with for just a couple of levels before going on to create the next concept. A HUGE part of my concepts for most of my characters is their names, and I would be LIVID if my active, paid ahead for over 6 months account was still subject to the stripping of character names for those characters I created and then went back to my mains on my main server for a few months before going back to play with my now (in your world) nameless character.<breath>

Because, as I said, I don't know how one would distinguish a name camper with an active account from what I just described.

    Please, do explain.

Ok...level 6? Seriously...you get to level 6 in like 3 hours of play (and that's if you're trying not to level )...why even bother doing this?

This is a waste of time. Anything like this should be done, for a minimum, starting at level 20. Level 35 may have been a bit too high but level 6 is far, far, too low to really matter.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Did you actually read through the entire thread? Posi himself has very adequately explained why level 6.

  5. One thing the policy will do is free up names that were "reserved" (by simply creating a character and never levelling it), but only by those who have since ceased paying for their accounts. Who knows how many of those there might be.

There are also other reasons why a person might have to stop playing and paying that are related to hardship. It's nice that so many people are willing to swipe the names of these people's characters simply because they had personal issues that took priority over gaming for 90 days.

Taking care of an elderly parent who fell and broke a hip, or a loved one that has cancer and needs your attention, etc.
Losing a job and having to prioritize for a while as to what we spend our money on. I know a kid right now whose account is inactive because his parents hit on some financial hardships recently and they had to choose to stop paying for CoH - their own accounts and their kids' accounts. He is in the process of looking for a job right now, but if he doesn't find one within the requisite 90 days he loses his character names? Yes, maybe those people will never come back, but 3 months is not a lot of time in terms of any of the examples I've used in this and my previous message. I'd be upset if it happened to me, and I'm betting most of the rest of you would, too.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think that 90 days is way too short a period of time to judge a person unworthy of keeping the names of their characters, whether they are level 6 or level 46.

  6. I still want to know how they are going to identify those people who have had to be inactive due to hardship beyond their control. I know that the very first thing on MY mind if I were called to active military duty would NOT be notifying NCSoft that my account will be inactive. And if I were in a disaster area - earthquake, hurricane, tornado, etc., I think that NCSoft would be very low on my list of people to contact.

Or am I in a vast minority in thinking that yanking the names of characters on accounts that are inactive due to military or disaster is kinda ... well ... yucky?

    > New interesting zones - I've always wanted to see ones that target other hero/villain genres like Anime style (like Princess Mononoke, dragonball Z, etc.) with costumes, big eye character options etc, or maybe a D&D style one with dragons, sword wielding knights, etc (plus some old favs like trolls, hydras, etc).

    /e wince

While I wouldn't mind more character options, one of the things that I like about this game is that it is different from all the big-eye anime style and sword/sorcery fantasy style games out there. Adding those types of things would start to blur the lines between this game and "those other games"... IMNSHO, of course.

And just to be clear, it's not necessarily the instant you see a cape on your screen the crash happens.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That would explain my crash today. I did as much as possible to avoid looking at any capes, but of course in Pocket D you can't avoid it. Took my V-Day mish, got almost all the way through it and boom crash.

The mobs didn't have capes, I didn't have a cape, but for some reason I crashed anyway.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Since there seems to be an issue in some zones where fps performance seems to be related to the rendering of graphic elements that one is not actually even seeing, I wonder if the cape issue could be caused by one being within a certain "distance" of a cape, even if you never actually "see" it or even look at it? Just kinda thinking out loud here ...

1st time poster so sorry if wrong format/thread ...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hi, and welcome to the forums - hopefully nobody will beat you up over posting this here, since it's specifically related to the current list of major bugs/problems devs are working on right now.

Your best bet would be to take a look at the Suggestions forum - this idea has come up quite often, and if you try searching on keywords like "+influence +transfer" you might find some of the other threads that deal with this.

Petitioning this issue has been useless as first they have me send them a DxDiag report (how can DirectX effect the setting the game uses to store costume color settings) and then they said it was because I was using obsolete costume pieces(which is not the case).

    [/ QUOTE ]

These are exactly the responses I have gotten with a very similar complaint. I am extremely frustrated with the cookie-cutter responses offered by the support people. Although they did actually award me free tokens for the character with which I had the most problems (and had paid several times to fix), I finally gave up when it became clear that they are just not "getting it".
  11. I can't get screenshots at the moment since servers are down... and I don't know if someone may have mentioned this before: On my toon Nikita Storm - her hairstyle is the one with the two ponytails, the part on the top of her head is excessively wide - very noticeably to others as well as myself.

I would also like to echo a previous poster's concern about the LINE between the tops and bottoms. It is particularly noticeable with outfits that have a bare midriff such as the metal one I use on a few of my toons... reminds me of the seam on old Barbie dolls with the twisty waist - definitely ruins the toon's appearance.

[edit]Motorcycle jacket 2 clips the "bangs" hairstyle in the back quite badly - I imagine it must do this with all the longer female hairstyles... And this one is hard to explain without a screenshot (and I'll definitely try to get shots of all of these things as soon as I can) but here goes: leather belt on jeans style pants with standard shirt - slight amount of skin shows between the shirt and the belt, which is fine, but the belt has little triangles clipped out of the top of it when viewed from behind (which IS primarily the view we use)... I'll definitely have to get a screenshot up for this, because even I don't know what I'm talking about here [/edit]

Oh, and, I've said it before and I'll say it again ... Jay and Ian are both so very sexxxxy....
  12. Some of the faces I had chosen for my female characters have been removed in some of the patches (pre-I7 and I7), and it's really quite disconcerting to not be able to make any changes to their costumes to avoid losing their identities (i.e., faces). While this isn't exactly a bug ...

Recently I got to level 30 with my ice/em tanker, and when I went in to get her new costume, her entire head changed... her face has now been changed in the third costume - it is quite frustrating. Bring back the previous face selections, please, please, oh, very sexy Jay and Ian!
