I'm not sure why people get so hung up over blind invites.
Personally, I accept them if I am not teamed and not logging soon, or not solo for any specific reason. If the team then turns out to be doing stuff that I don't want to do, or poorly run, I leave.
I never offer blind invites, but that's because when inviting someone I like to throw them a bit of spiel to try to get them to join the team and make sure it won't be a waste of time (for us and them). But I don't actually mind receiving them. Sure ... it's a bit lazy and maybe a little rude, but it's so trivial that I think people who have a strong reaction to getting them should try to relax a little. Live and let live, don't try to impose your standards on others (yeah corny, but it is kinda true for MMO situations). There's a lot of people in the game and there's bound to be a variety of ways people approach things. -
Well done. Takes a lot to keep an SG playing together over a long period of time.

I was a Dirty Handprints member until about six months ago. I went inactive and knew I'd be removed - it's SG rules and it makes sense. I came back recently and was given a reinvite and made to feel welcome.
Like probably a lot of people here, I've played a lot of MMOs and been in a lot of guilds. DHP is the best run one I've ever been in. The leaders and officers put time into running events and the rules are clear, sensible and developed in consultation with the members. Noone could ask for more. -
Thanks for the replies.
I'll keep the Femme Fatals in mind if I ever create a female char
Although I don't wanna start a whole "pros and cons of voice" thread here, I would like to say a couple of things about my position. There are a couple of reasons I don't want to use voice.
First is practical - I live in a flat with my wife, the computer is pretty near the TV, and I don't want to subject her to listening to me on a 3-hour phone conversation type thing every night.
Second is gameplay. PvP in most games is already quite twitchy. I like the excitement as much as the next person, but I kinda like the way keeping everything in text slows down fights just that little bit and puts more emphasis on individuals to understand what they need to do in a fight rather than getting info from someone else.
The third is roleplay. I'm not a huge RP person when it comes to computer games, but there is just enough suspension of disbelief for me to feel some atmosphere in them. Listening to a booming male voice shouting "TAKE THE ONES BEHIND!" or some such when his character is a woman in a spandex leotard kinda kills that for me :P -
I'm looking for a new SG. I looked through previous posts by SGs recruiting, but it's hard to see which would fit what I am looking for, so I thought posting might be the way to go.
I'm a mature player with several years in MMORPGs, including running a guild in DAoC (Iron Wolves on Prydwen server) and playing a fair amount of WoW and SWG. At the moment I am online quite a lot, evenings and weekends, but like many longtime players, I am trying not to overdo it or RL gets tricky.
I am relatively new to CoV. Started a couple of months ago but had the last 3 weeks out of the country so haven't played during that time. My main is a level 24 Mind/Psy Dom. I didn't play CoH. I'm in an SG, but it is not active enough, so I want to move.
I'm looking for the following from an SG:
- Friendly players who get along well. I can be quite chatty when not in missions
- Active (at least 5-10 people on primetime, preferrably more)
- No voice (such as TS/Vent), I'm just not into it
- PvP is likely to be important to me, so an SG with PvP focus would be ideal
- Some SG/Coalition raids would be nice, though not essential
- SG website would be cool, but not a must
I'm a team-player and am quite happy to contribute by turning up to SG stuff, and helping any way I can.
My global chat handle is @Sheriff Fatman, send me ingame if you think I might suit your SG and wanna chat about it. Or you could reply to this thread, of course
