Anyone who complains about a rule that to break ties MoV is at some point used I apoligize. However, when that is the third method used for ranking and is a widely used and accepted way to decide tie breakers I fail to see the problem.. If it is good enough for World Cup Soccer I think it will suffice for an MMoRPG.
[/ QUOTE ]
how about using the amount of deaths your team got? it still has the same bearing on score, but it doesnt give you a incentive to run up the score against some new sg and make them feel bad. -
[ QUOTE ]
I would encourage all participating groups to please re-read the rules that were drafted at an open meeting of interested groups.
If ladder rules need to be re-drafted, then that is a possibility, but any matches that have taken or will take place (untill the event of a rule change) operate underneath the original rules.
Further discussion is futile, as all groups had equal opportunity to read said rules and are subject to their enforcement and any related consequences.

To find where people will begin on the PvP Ladder we will be starting a round robin, this is where every group who has signed up will face one another. Initial ranking will be based first on win to loss ratio. Ties will be decided by who has beat whom. In an instance where that does not rectify the problem it will be based on margin of victory, and then on over all victories if mov still does not satisfy the problem. This is only for the initial ranking. We will begin this process on Sunday the 29th of July at 9 PM EST. It is requested that all groups who have signed up for the ladder be there. We will go until midnight. It is expected that SG Captains will set up their own matches. For initial ranking it is only 1 match, not 2 out of 3 so we can save time and get this ladder up as soon as possible. We will then meet up again on Wednesday August 1st at 9 PM EST going til midnight once again. It is expected that SG Captains will simply ask for matches over arena chat. Make sure you face every SG in the ladder on these two nights. If you do not face a group it will be counted as a loss for both groups. Also, all matches are to be reported to me. Please send the results of every match you have to me on the blue boards with score and who won. Both SG Captains must report these results to me so I can check for consistency. Any group who purposefully reports inaccurate results will be automatically placed at the bottom of the ladder.
The Groups who have signed up thus far with a roster are as follows:
Hell Raisers
JAL
Velocity
SW
Freaks
Old School
The End
Envy The Shadow King
Whirligig
As stated above, you have two nights for a total of 6 hours to face each one of these groups one time, make sure you do so

or did you just decide to go CrueL and pretend practices counted as anything?

that was a low blow putz. -

JAL was there all 6 hours of the open fight times and we tried very hard to get matches against every group. Does anyone REALLY FEEL that we should take a loss in that situation when we were ready and prepared?
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
One question, If a team fails to show up on either of these nights and you are unable to face them does your team still take the loss as well as the team that wasn't able to show up?
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Yes, if a team simply fails to show up you both take a hit. If this is the case it is more than likely going to hit everyone the same way and effectively cancel it out.
Sunday and Wednesday were chosen as they are usually the most populated nights.

[/ QUOTE ]
That last one is from TGIA isn't it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup.
I think a particularly important part of that rules clarification is the "it's more than likely going to hit everyone" part, which seems to imply that while it'll probably hit everyone, it might not, and them's the breaks.
[/ QUOTE ]
so it was in the rules that if you dont do a match because the other team doesnt show up that its counted as a loss for both groups. this is from the coordinator himself. i dont see how you can argue that. now... if they want to change the rules after the fact, then i guess thats why people are now declaring shenanigans.
i looked at the screen shots. nowhere did they say they forfeit. they said that people left and they couldnt make it. -

We have come up with a prize for whomever is at the top of the ladder on the first of every month. Ex has agreed to give out forum titles on the first of every month to the SG who has the top spot on the ladder at the first of every month. The title must be the same for everyone. The captain of the SG will present up to 3 titles they wish to have and Ex will pick the most appropriate one.
I have been contacted regarding some rules people wish to have added, I need every SG captain to respond here and give a yes or no to the rules. Please do not debate here on why, make another thread for that.
Amendment 1: If a group is inactive for more than two months they are to be removed from the ladder.
Amendment 2: Bar code teams are not to be permitted. (A bar code team is where a team has almost the exact same name as to make spiking nigh impossible. This issue has arose from the new ability to change ones name.)
Please respond as such:
Amendment 1: Yes/No
Amendment 2: Yes/No
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at TGIA_ here on the blue boards.
*Edit was to change date to July 29th

you guys are smart. -
are you trying to say david letterman owns me?
-
SORRY for being active in this. i just have to avoid fighting myself lol. you dont necessarily have to fight the people above you.
-
if we are speaking on the record...
when u did fight u quit out 3 mins into it. -
no, not sure where u heard that from. ajax's ice/cold pwnd my dark/cold, not my ice tank lol. im not THAT bad.
divine got me cause i underestimated the dmg with reds, but after a DC/rematch, couldnt kill me. same with the domi, i underestimated his ability to run me out of breaks, and played kinda stupid. rematch and i won. -
he doesnt become number one. here is how it works:
say there are 48 people ranked. a new guy comes and fights my ice tank who is number one. im feeling sorry for the guy, so i let him win (lol). he doesnt become the new number one. he auto becomes the 49th person, then from there he beat number 1. so u get the average of those (25), and he would move up 25 spots.
If you are able to defeat someone that high up, then u deserve to shuffle past some of the lower tier people. those people arent in the top for no reason (except right now, cause it just started and everyone is in the top) -
there is a global channel. me and ajax are mods in it. its called The Ladder. just do a /chanjoin The Ladder to get in.

Also, concerning storm teams, they are very beatable by run and gun teams, it just takes a different playstyle and very strict focus fire. If you want some tips and tricks, I'm more than happy to share.

There are also ways to control the use of vengeance stacking. Does that make it any less overpowered? -
i really doubt that they will actually fix powers for pvp. From precedents, it looks like they will ONLY fix bugs. venge, bug. cage, bug.
Im pretty sure that the pvp aspect merely brought attention to the bug, not that they are changeing it to help pvp. -
no, what he is saying is that everyone here is biased, which is absolutely true.
the people who run storm teams defend that it is not just an easy win, and requires skill. that is mainly the freaks.
the people who use run and gun venge teams defend that its not easy to get it stacked, and requires skill. This is mainly everyone else.
from my experiance, both are overpowered and cheesy. and generally storm > vengeance gathering, becuase of -range and freezing rain on the body. This is why storm teams are doing so well right now, because they disrupt the vengeance gathers. -
[ QUOTE ]
I vote forbid completely or limit to a max of 1 toon having it per team. Good post though, Goldie.
[/ QUOTE ]
you meant the power set storm summoning, right?
i know NDX has played a little with storm teams... i personnally find them to be really cheesy. It was way too easy to get kills/stay alive. its pretty much a joke fighting vs any normal team.
i have found the most entertaining and skill involved matches are two jump teams going at eachother. This will be especially true once vengeance is fixed. I personally cant wait, i think it will be much less of a dominant one sided victory, and actually have momentum and it will go back and forth. -
except vengeance is a tactic used during the match that requires some practice to pull off. Temp powers (a lot like pre-match vengeance) have no risk, and use things outside of the actual match to decide who wins.
