Okay... respecced.
Have you guys /played/ this game after respeccing yet? What are you whinging about? I accidentally fought a mission on invincible (Spines/Inv Scrapper) solo, after having done an insane four person Nemesis mission on invincible and logging out to restart my (very very slow) machine.
I won.
What the hell? I thought I was supposed to be 'worthless' and 'racked in the jimmy' and 'taking a groin shot' after ED? Instead, I slow my enemies more, have better accuracy from my Invincibility and Build Up, hit a little less often, do roughly the same damage, and generally speaking... beat the ever living snot out of everything I come in contact with!
I usually play on Tenacious, but I went ahead and only dropped to Rugged after that one crazy Crey mission... Now I die roughly once every four or five missions (mostly due to my build's vulnerability to fire, and I accept that, because it's concept, it's flavorful, and it gives me something to worry about...) and the Debt is gone in two.
I chopped Stamina down to four slots, and you know what, I still can only barely keep up with my powers regular recharge times (NO HASTEN, DO YOU HEAR ME?! NONE, NO HASTEN, NEVER HAD IT, NEVER WILL!) in a full fight. I can, maybe, if I miss frequently, run out of stamina... but that's what those little blue tabs with the lightning thingy in the middle are for, kiddies... to make that blue bar all big again!
I like ED, guys, but with the 13.33 percent cut in endurance costs, how about a 10 or 15 percent increase in the secondary effects of powers? I want to see guys tossed, stuck, stunned, cowering, staggering, and slowed just a bit more, and the enhancements seem to do very little for the actual duration. (33.33% of 2 seconds is........ not a lot.)

Hey Carapace, nice nuild. My Valley Rose is the same, a spine/inv lvl 35. 5 Attacks in use and cycling nicely with 1 recharge reduction each, and 1 endurance reduction each. 1 defensive toggle, Unyielding, with 1 end red also and 2 pool powers with 2 end red. Oh wait, I respecced after I5 and had to get rid of Assault and Tactics, so make that 1 end red in 3 toggles, add Temporary Invulnerability and Invincibility to bring my defenses back up. Oh, yeah, ED, I had to remove Provoke and Resurrection in order to take my Energy and Elemntal Defense passives.
My character still runs fairly cold with about 15 total end red, I could get by with less but personally, I can do with a little less firepower not to have to worry about my char running out in all but the longest combats. Of course, with this build I ran cold before I5 also.
My biggest loss with I5 is not the end problem I never had because I used end red and recharge red liberally before ED. My biggest loss is the 4 pool powers I had to drop in order to keep my defenses at roughly where they had been before ED. 30% physical and 15% everything but psionic.
My character has really lost Individuality because my builds were actually close to ED before, as far as slotting is concerned. Now I HAVE to to have 4 fewer pool powers to make my character use the same identical defensive powers as everyone els, instead of settling for less defense and more variety.
Well, auto renew is off. I am just standing around, not even logging on anymore, since my characters are essentially dead now. -
So who thinks the next 50$ expansion will be City of Shadows, a PvP only city? And maybe some new enhancements/inspirations that players of CoH and CoV can only get if they buy CoS?

I understand what you mean about Unyielding, but you may not have noteced the most recent nerfs. Unyielding is now down to 7.5% damage reduction and 6 slotted it only reachesabout 12.5. I still have it because of the status protection, and it is still better than the passsive defenses, but it hardly compares to Unstoppable anymore.

Hello, this may be a bit long but please bear with me.
First I am a casual player and started on a friends account in Nov 2004, got my own account at Xmas. I have about 2 dozen chars from 11 to 31 in lvl. My highest are a rad/dark def 28 and a spine/inv scrapper 31. I solo and team about equally. As a casual player I do not spend much time on the boards finding out the specific details of the game. I think the developers should TELL me enough to make informed decisions. Obviously they disagree.
Reading the posts on fire tankers<mine is lvl16 fire/ice> it seems that burn is the biggee problem child. I have been invited to team with fire tankers just to increase the size of the mobs they were slaughtering. Good xp but boring. Other complaints are the large number of additional power pools most characters seem to feel they need.
One of the problems I see is that the developers want characters not to be able to reach their power caps independently. Instead characters are supposed to team their tanks with support characters in order to be most effective. This is a solution to characters who are min/maxing their powers. Characters who are here using theme based characters are actually hurt disproportionately. Characters designed to have 'Just enough' powers find that they must respec and make their characters carbon copies of the min/maxers just to survive. My scrapper has only maxxed one power out with dr enh, unyielding. I have not put anything else into defenses and feel fine with a 60 dr vs sm/l and a 50 dr vs everything else but psionics. Not everyone wants to max out a few poers and have nothing else. Many of us want to be a little different and still be playable.
For what it is worth here is my solution. The developers vision of burn is totally at odds with the players. Drop the power and replace it with something more fun.
NEW POWER
LEAPING FLAMES
Toggle
.1 end/sec
Run speed Bonus equal to Swift or Sprint
Jump Bonus equal to Hurdle or Combat Jumping
Defense All Bonus +5
Damage Reduction Psionic 12.5
Status Defense Immobilize, Hold, Sleep, Knock/down/back
This power would be useful in lots of different ways without being overpowering. Players would be far less likely to have identical builds. Everyone feels we need Status defenses and don't like having to take power pools to get them. Since Fire is fast and slippery, it is hard to hit and even psionic attacks are at reduced effect, the only Tanker power with this. Greater speed and jumping makes the Fire Tanker lighter and more able to get where he needs to be.
Leaping Flames is not an uber power, but players will get numerous advantages that they currently need pool powers for. The Fire tanker would be the fastest tactical character and have the choice of emphasizing Defense, Psionic Damage Reduction or movement.
Sure, this is not the best possible solution, but I think it addresses most of the complaints at the moment.
Developers do not want Fire tankers to do massive damage.
Players want Status defenses.
Players want more mobility.
Players do not want to have to take Fighting and Jumping Power Pools just to survive. -
Hi folks. My first dark/psy defender just made 10th level. I wish I had seen this forum before i made the character, but it is still a good one. Mental Blast and Subdue i was originally quite upset with. Subdue seems much like Chilblain or Fire Ring, but less likely to immobilize. Mental Blast seems like Chilblain or Fire Ring with no special power at all. Psionic Lance compares very favorably to Moonbeam, one of my favorite powers.
At 6 I took Assault from Leadership and at 8th I took my dark Reaz power. I think it's Howling twilight. I had the usual vampiric heal at 1st also. I slotted just about everything once with end red.
On the one hand, I found I definitely needed PL to solo and kill anything. MB ans Sub just took forever due to their low damage. On the other hand, my low end costs allowed me to find long battles with Assault toggled on and use the very expensive heal several times without end problems. In groups i could pick out and snipe dangerous leaders without drawing much aggro and even stand in the furball to do it. This allowed me to heal my teammates regularly while still killing the leaders.
About Psychic Scream, I have not had a chance to look at it yet. The one thing I HAVE seen is that it is another low damage attack, like MB. Indeed, equally slotted against the same opponent, the diference in damage is less than 5%.
Right now, i have to say psionic lance is the best thing i have seen at low levels. It does as much damage at low levels as 2 MB and 1 Sub, for less end. I use all three together, and I eventually get through my opponents.
