As Jack so aptly put it, the way youre doing things now just wont work, so heres what I propose to you, from what Ive been able to piece together of your history you need all this psychic bumping because of some major psychic damage right? Let me try and fix this, then you dont need all these children doing all this! Then Jacks sister can go free, then you can go back to being a normal society free of all this and you can finally move on
Sue paused, an honest expression on her face, indeed she practically radiated sincerity and was telling the truth.
Isnt that a good thing? To finally stop all this? -
Moving slightly back and bringing her arms up into a defensive position, not that she would ever get into a physical fight it just made her feel better, Sue sighed.
Do we have to be so melodramatic about this Jack? Remember to play nice, no ones threatening anyone here, lets just wait for the nice president to respond shall we? -
Sue kept her focus inwards, holding not only the ambient psychic fields of the girls, which if this many focused on her it would be a challenge to remain unaffected, but also her own feelings of anger and disgust at the situation. Child psychics, born and raised to tamper with peoples minds, not even understanding the horrors they were committing on the deepest levels, but that would change soon, very soon.
As she finally arrived in the presidents office she tried her best to remain impassive, but a slight scowl refused to move from her face.
Im sure I did, She began to reply, keeping her voice steady, But I think before you pat anyone on the back you should listen to what we have to say, because we have something very important we want to tell them, dont we Jack?
Sue finished turning towards her captive who was nudged forward to present their plan, or at least what they wanted the Oceana authorities to think their plan was -
Taking a deep breath and briefly closing her eyes, Sue placed her mental image of herself floating gently in an ocean of happy thoughts and memories, walled off by powerful psychic barriers she had spent years practicing and teaching to others, behind which she set out a vast array of psychic traps, tricking anyone who made it past the barriers into their own minds or loosing themselves for hours in needless trivia.
Once all this was done, in but a second of real time Sue smiled, No, Im taking him to see whoever is in charge personally, and if you dont want me to teleport him away Id ask you kindly to stop he little girls from trying to mess with my mind -
Wearily eyeing the beasts of water and unable to stop from giving the children a look of sympathy, Sue finally turned to face the one addressing her.
Yes, and I believe both he and I have words to have with someone in charge, the sooner the better
And as she spoke, along the strained mental connection to the hundreds of chattering voices Sue began to relay her position, getting everyone ready for whatever might be needed and trying to contact the newest member of the collective for some more information on wherever the hell she was about to go. -
Sue rather skilfully slipped a pair of cuffs onto Jacks wrists, to show that he was a prisoner, not that theyd actually hold him for long if he didnt want to be held.
If I were you Id stop with the comments Jack, else I might have to knock you out to be more convincing
And with that she stood and waited for the coming guards, time to get to work at last. -
There was a flash, and the next thing either of them knew they were rapidly plummeting down towards the Ocean, the hazy sight of a city just on the horizon behind them.
Sue of course was perfectly calm, reaching out to grab jack by the collar as they fell before in another flash they appeared further out to see and began to plummet again. Eventually after repeating this process five times, the pair finally landed at the outskirts of Oceana Airport.
There, was that quick enough for you? -
Sue rolled her eyes at the leering figure before her, some people were so hard to work with, but it was unfortunately necessary. After a second she spoke, a small part of her wishing, as it always did, why couldnt everyone be Psychic it would make talking so much easier.
Yes, I do, I take it youve been before? If you could focus on a place we could teleport to it might be helpful
She took a deep breath, from what shed checked out Oceana seemed beyond her usual range, which meant a few jumps before arriving, Im sure plummeting towards the ocean a few times wont be too bad on the guy she thought to herself. -
Sue gently rocked the baby in her arms, humming a lullaby and smiling as the adorably inquisitive eyes began to close sleepily. Sue was more then a little envious as she put the child into its cot and began to finish putting on her trademark orange outfit.
Her mind was abuzz, not only with the thoughts and worries eating away at the back of her mind, but also with the thoughts of the dozens of minds she now tied together in a psychic collective, each one preparing for the worst, but Sue hoped it wouldnt come to that.
She began to tie the orange bandanna she was never seen without, well almost never a very few people had seen her without it, onto her white hair thinking over the reasons she was doing all this again. There were children, psychic children, being used as little more then tools to manipulate people on the most fundamental level. Two such unthinkable things being used in tandem like that, it made her skin crawl, but no more she was going to put a stop to it, here and now those people would regret abusing human rights when Susan Bright was on the case.
With a flash of light her location instantly changed from he warm homely apartment with her sleeping child in to a corridor outside a much less savoury apartment, she knocked on the door with one of her fingerless gloved hands (which were orange of course) indicating to the occupant inside that the time had come. -
There are other sections of the boards?

And that's pretty much the nail on the head:
Vigilanties do wha they think they must, regardless of the laws or opinions of others, because they feel that's what -must- be done.
If they're right or wrong is open to large debate though. -
But when the time comes when you kill the killer, what makes you any different from them?
It's a hard thing to judge really, it might lead to a slippery slope, it might not and in some cases I can see where there'd be no other choice.
But I digress from the question, a vigilante to me is someone who's crossed the line between hero and villian, but for now they target villian groups and other 'bad guys'. But they're still over that line, they could kill the wrong person, kill someone who could have reformed or nto reoffended because they don't see the point and ultimatly if someone who is other wise a good person makes a mistake or a wrong move a Vigilinate might end up taking them out.
But that's just my thoughts on the idea, but you know me, I'm the crazy guy with some characters who won't even kill Rikti >.> -
Quote:((The issue is that directly after the fight with Kahn, Pious was perfectly healthy, healthy enough to start another fight, with people in the crowd who had just said somthing he didn't agree with, causing Molly among others to shoot him, his apparent fine state of health after teh Kahn fight, yet dying after the big brawl which indluded Molly makes it seem in universe that teh fatal damag was done by someone other then khan!))(( ok I hate OOC posting in an IC thread but I need to clarify this hopefully by the OP as well as others and in a PM but the duel was pre set up between myself and pious and he asked me if it was ok if Kahn was to kill off the priest as well as the other longbow agent to drag him out - I am struggling to see how the blame is now this Molly person seeing as the actual players involved had set this up in advance and it has been recorded in another thread with newspaper articles stating this
Apologies for breaking the OOC flow, I really am but im just beginning to get confused by the whole situation, i'll happily settle this in pm's so the rest of the thread can carry on without the ramblings of a crazy man))

"I'd also like you to stop refering to Mr Pious as a 'Longbow Picked Leader', such a position was underinvestigation, review and was indeed on suspention by the time the Warbug incident took place, only his unfortuante passing rendered the whole point moot!"
"Also according to the offical transcript of the incident, Mrs Longstaff, who totally doesn't deserve all these bad things that people are saying about her, did not open fire on Mr Pious until he started lashing out at the crowd who ahd gathered to see the fight, which we had to loose a good man to be used as a 'message'"
"And that's what I don't get here, espeically from you Geni, you seem to hero worship Arachnos, the same people who invaded -our- homes killed and injuried a lot of good people and would have done who knows what if they hadn't been driven off!" -
"We're not asking that at all! Not at all! What we're trying to deduce is why he did such a silly thing, and I can pretty well assure you that you're taking the complete end of the stick with what happened there, just ebcause the Spider guy was suggestion letting him go doesn't mean he would have been let go! Negoations didn't even get far due to Mr Pious interrupting so we'll never know."
"He did some good, ad we should remember him for that, but it does not make his actions in this any better! Not at all, you do not shoot someone who surrenders, we may never know if it was a 'phoney' surrender or not, because of Mr Pious's overzealous actions, so that's my point there!"
Miriages avatar then turned to Geni.
"I'd like to point out that this group that gave your dad a job, and that are apprenly so good in your eyes were the ones leading he recent skirmish into Paragon city, should I bring up the news report of how many good people were killed or hurt in these attacks? And what would have happened had they not been driven off? You should consider these thigns before you draw the line over which side is the right one!" -
"Hey I object to that! Longbow are -not- a big massive gang with jsut military hardware! We're a hero support organisation doing our damndest to try and make the world, especially places like the isles or Africa which is in such a terrible state with the Arachnos sponsered warlorrds carving up the poorer countries!"
She paused for breath once again, but soon resumed her seemingly limitless capacity for speech.
"It's true there are some good people who wind up working for a abd organisation like that, and thanks for sharing that and showing these people who wouldn't belive that on my accoun! This is why we have to give those Spiders who surrender or try to a chance to do so, or mabye even defect! It's happened before now, dispite Arachnos's best efforts!"
The Avatar paused, bringing up several historical entries from various websites, detailing the sum of Arachnos illegal activity, "And as you can see, they took over the Isles ina coup against the lawfully elected president in the sixties, have made repeated hostile attacks against the US and other countires, sponserd warlords and other mean people to make life hard for other countries"
"Not to mention thier human rights record is terrible! Civillian cargo ships that go near the isles, even ones just carrying medical aid are routinly attacked and raided, not to mention the acts of the 'Destined Ones', really for the good of the people of the Isles Recluse really needs to be over thrown, a lawful government put back in pwoer, and then those good people who joined the Spiders can help protect thier own in the right way, wihout supporting such a nasty regime!" -
At that moment a fairly basic looking female avatar, jsut using the basic default customisation settings walked into the room, the name floating over head reading "Miriage219" the name was missing from the infosection, but the age, the fact she lived in paragon city and her occupation as a member of Longbow were all lsited.
"Oh hey!" She spoke in a rather quick and hyperactive voice, "Bit of a nice room you've got here, interesting topic too, I mean from my point of view, we don't really know if it was a phoney surrender or not, we never got the chance!"
She paused for a second, "But it's a chance we should give them right? I mean the freedom we're fighting for here does mean that we're allowed to give people a chance, that they might realise they signed up for the wrong side? It does happen, we even had that Ciricle of Thorns guy Akarit or somthing surrender and join up with the hero side a while back! There was a Longbow warden on the scene trying to talk to Holt as he was surrrendering and trying to negotate, but before anything could be agreed Mr Pious went and attacked him"
The sound of the girl aking a breath to resume rapid speaking could be heard over the speakers, "It's really sad that anyone in this whole thing has to die, we try really hard not to let anyone die... but we'll bring them to justice one day somehow! It's jsut the justice we'll bring has to be fair and real justice, not trigger happy vengence fueled 'justice' that's jsut a cover word for revenge!"
"And Stephenine, have you heard of the Longbow oureach program in the isles, if things are really being that bad if you contact them we cans ee if we can come and help you! It's what we do after all!" -
You're on Union AP! Ask Sue for some Mental defence classess!

A Longbow representative would like to issue the following brief statement on the matter:
As the press is reporting there were indeed several skirmishes in the Hazard Zone known as 'Sirens Call', and indeed during the interval between skirmishes there was at least one surrender attempt and one attempted negotiation.
During each incident the Longbow member present and most of the hero team acted in an upstanding manner we've come to expect and did not attack unarmed surrendered opponents, however one individual did not act in such a manner and proceeded to attack.
Longbow wishes to state that we are considering options of how best to deal with this individual further statements will be released once we have a concrete answer, we would like to stress that this individual does not represent the views of Longbow or the vast majority of the hero community. -
We thought that one was so obvious that we didn't need to mention it
-
Pretty much with the making them up, with a city as large as paragon there'd be dozens of schools anyway!
-
In previous EU threads it was generally considered good form to let every player have ana ction before makign the bad guy respond, also there was the small matter of someone in thier first move giving the whale a Lobotomy!
And damn it Mech, I was jsut randomly speclating on the channel, what next, we post my crazy theories on what's happening Lore-wise :P -
Talenar leapt through the air, blades cleaving through the rotten flesh of a nearby zombie, a well placed kick removing it's head before she ducked to avoid the retaliatory fire, cuasing it to hit one of the other zombies.
"Look here holy man" Tal said releaving the now re-deceased zombie of it's weapons, "If you want to get working on moving people out of here you do that, but some of us are a little dis-"
Tal didn't get a chance to finish her scentence, as she had to cartwheel out of the way of more incoming fire, starting to return it with the weapons she 'liberated' from the previous zombie, muttering to herself "Hate it when plans go to hell, stupid celestials" -
Talenar grinned to herself as the group started to fade from view, "Great, makes being stealthy so much easier"
She slipped her hands back to her weapons harness, fitting her blades to her wrists, "So, we all up for the beat up a local monst till it tells us if it's seen anything?" -
Talenar shook her head, "Nope, my usual way of finding someone is to find a shady character around where they dissapeared and start asking questions, we could always try that I guess?"
