  1. Thanks Terminotaur, not trying to steal any of your thunder, just a little due credit would have been nice.

Jester's Court is on w00t Radio every night at ~7pm Eastern. They talk about in-game things. DJJester, along with Friggin_Taser, Pilcrow, and sometimes other guests, talk about forum stuff, speculate about things, etc. They were talking about this thread last night.

But I digress. Nice adds BTW, more interesting info. This especially caught my eye:

    [ QUOTE ]
At least one new powerset for each AT (either primary or secondary, probably not both)

    [/ QUOTE ]

This will rock. And considering that each new powerset costs ~$50k to create and develop from the ground up (according to DJJester last night), it's no wonder they want us to buy a box, if only to make back thier development cost. But I'm not worried about buying another box frankly (only buying one box a year at this rate, and have almost abandoned any other game).

I know how you feel, I'll be thinking and suddenly realize something I should have added to the OP, which is why I keep posting here too
  2. Hey Arc,

I'm pretty sure the trench coats that will be out with the Vet Reward System is roadmapped for I8. The art's already in use in Mayhem Missions, and it won't be too hard for them to track the ammount of time you've held an account to impliment the system.

Other than that, anything else is up in the air. Posi hinted that wings will be niether part of an AT nor a costume part (he likes to keep us guessing), so this has led to a lot of speculation, that perhaps it will be a Prestige item (likely), or maybe a temp power (semi-likely), or maybe an accolade power (less likely).

...But you know, I would have loved to go to any of the Meet & Greets, but CuppaJo had a restraining order put on me after that incident with the car battery, Positron, 65 tons of crispy wonton noodles, and duct tape.

  4. After listening to Jester's Court tonight, I'm pretty sure that Terminotaur got all the credit for creating this thread (not that he didn't add a LOT of info to it). Grats Terminotaur

I'm not a vain man, but I'm kinda bummed out now
    <------ has been served

Edit: I blame Pilcrow, a Forum Cartel member who somehow couldn't find the OP

For those who didn't know and are OCD about badges, there will be exactly ONE (1) Infected in Recluse's Victory that spawns every two hours. Kill him 100 times to get that Isolator badge you missed in Outbreak. Posi said it would be annoyingly hard, after all, so you asked for it

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ouch. Ok, when i7 goes live, I'll wait till the major badge-aholics are done before even thinking about it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just wanted to add (because I just remembered from the Meet & Greet):

I think Positron's greatest practical joke is the Task Force Commander accolade, which requires the badges from all six of the Freedom Phalanx Task Forces.

Now you will be forced to do Positron's dreaded TF if you want this accolade

Edit: I already have this done, so expect no sympathy

Strongly disagree, particularly as many are required for accolades and (unless you are carefully following the third party sites, unlikely for a new player) there's nothing to suggest that either this contact has something special or this mission is unusually important.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except the Accolades don't provide a huge enough bonus to be required, and what's the point of playing if you already know everything?

Man, the internet has spoiled people...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Think the key words are 'third party sites" which are not provided by NCSoft and only endorsed as "fan sites". Like a digital Prima Guide. Players who want to discover things for themselves will never go to these references.

I don't expect CoX to start putting in caveats of info regaring mission badges and such. It's part of the mystery and discovery of the game.

Nintendo didn't tell me where the Warp Zones were in SMB - other people did

However, finding out about a badge and not being able to earn it by helping others with their missions would probably not be fun IMHO, especially if the badges were required for accolades.

I can see both points of the argument, but IMHO, because the way the current system works, it would be unfair not to be able to earn certain badges because you took mission X instead of mission Y, and will never get a chance to do misison X again without teaming.

What will be the verdict on these badges Posi was talking about at the M&G? I'll make my decision when I try I suppose. I'll wait until I can give feedback based on experience vice speculation.

I had two questions maybe people could answer -
did they say if Wings will move or will they just be static costume pieces like the wings on Brian Blessed's back in most of the Flash Gordon movie? That would suck.

    Thanks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wasn't at the meet & greet, but I found out through other means that the plan at the time I heard about wings IS to have them move/flap to some degree. IIRC you'll see the wings flap when jumping up & dropping down.

Not being a chatty, inquisitive type I didn't ask for more details, so I don't know if this includes vertically rising & dropping while in flight mode.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Tha major reason why wings have been held back for so long is animation (the same reason capes weren't realeased until I2). They want the wings to move right when you are flying, running, jumping, using weapons, blasting, etc. This is why originally they were researving wings for an Epic AT, so they would not need to create animations for every AT in the game. However, if wings are now going to be released for any AT, it would represent a singificant ammount of work on the art and animation teams' parts.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
But it sure is a knee-slapping, keg-of-a-time for them to charge outrageous prestige amounts for a broken base & rent system, right? What FUN it is to emulate an economy in a casual MMO with no valid currency, no markets that influence supply or demand, or worthwhile incentives to invest in it.

    <insert eye-roll smiley here>

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wow, looks like the thread was pruned a bit (thank goodness)

Hmmmmm.... well, my sub-10-player SG seems to be doing OK base-wise, considiering we've filled up our basic plot and are now working towards a larger plot or a supercomputer. Besides, wasn't it already stated that base items, costs, and rent would be further reviewed next issue?

Now back to our regularly scheduled program, already in progress.

    Nice pics!

And think you need to come up with a toon in honor of Positron bestowing bunny ears on ya... Just a thought...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do they have bunny ears in-game yet? If not, I'll have to ask Posi to have the art team look into this
  9. Threadjack! I'm calling shinanigans!
  10. WB Cuppa

You, Matt, Serdar, and everyone else from NCSoft ROCK!!!!!

See you next time you're in SoCal

If you're still ill, hope you feel better soon (not to be confused with "Soon™")!
  11. Just thought I'd add this story from the meet & greet that Posi told us:

My wife was commenting how she like to watch her character's posterior (she has a female character ironically - she's jelous of her avatar's figure). Matt used to work for Eidos back when they were developing Tomb Raider. Ironically, the reason why the main character for Tomb Raider is a shapely woman is apparently for the same reason. When your demograph are males ages 16-40, and they have to play most of the game looking at a character's backside the whole game, what kind of backside do you suppose they would like the most?
  12. [ QUOTE ]
No thanks. Your "vision" for CoH/V blows chunks IMO.

Thanks for the pics and info Obsidius! Thanks to Jester as well, once the page actually loads. It's taking its time.

It was my pleasure. Mearly returning the favor for those who've done the same at the last Meet & Greets. It was the only way I recognized CuppaJo off the cuff

    Also...

I predict a "Trenchcoats at 3 months?!" frenzy.

And am I the only one amused by the fact that Pann had red devil eyes in his picture, and looked nothing like Peter Pan?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, a lot of people are just going to get some of these instantly, I think when logging in!

I could only hope. My main doesn't need one, but at least one of my alts would look shwag in a trenchie

Also, you can only get the badge by doing the missions yourself. joining someone else for them will not award it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hallelujah. Now if only they will fix up most of the other mission badges like that, I'll be happy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You mean like the "War Wall Defender" badge that gets rewarded regadless of whether you succeed or fail?

Just glad they got the "Time spent in BB/ Siren's/ Warburg" badges fixed. No more spending 5 consecutive hours in a zone
  19. Excellent post Terminotaur - more great info!

    Edit:

Wings, Trenchcoats - Both are coming very soon. Trenchcoats will be unlocked by the long term subscriber program. Wings are costume options and will not be specific to any certain AT.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Will Obsidius (my main and a gargoyle) finally get wings? Perchance to dream...
  20. Excelent post!

I also found out that while NCSoft's US office is in Austin, Posi and a lot of the dev team is actually in the SF Bay area. It would be great for Posi to be at a meet & greet in Austin, but he'd still have to fly (poor guy )

    [ QUOTE ]
I'm not a mindless dev-praiser, but I will say that I think the interface of the forums make us treat everything like business instead of friendship, and that's a shame.

I'm not friends with Posi, Cuppa, Serdar, Tisirin (almost forgot you!) and the rest, but I could easily be friends with them if I saw them on a regular basis.

***They simply made it that easy to like them.***

And "100 times" isn't accurate, it would actually be 100 minus however many Infected you actually did defeat in Outbreak. You have to defeat at least 9 (IIRC?) to get out of Outbreak, so 91 times at the most

    [/ QUOTE ]
The thing is, the number of Infected you defeated didn't start getting tracked until Issue 2.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wow, good point! Never even thought of that. Which means my main (created before I2) would have to get 100 kills.

Not like I'm going to loose any sleep not having that one badge which isn't needed for any accolades (although I know some are super-obssesed)

  23. Hello all,

Posted this on the Triumph boards but thought I would share with you all.

I had the pleasure of being able to attend the NCSoft Meet & Greet on May 13th, and Rella (my wife) and I had a blast

First off, here are some pics:

First off, the venue (Howie's) was HUGE!

I mean the largest LAN center in North America HUGE!

DJ Jester from w00t Radio was there spinning tunes!

All the VIPs got an NCSoft unlimited play pass, of which we took advantage.

    I met Matt Miller (Positron)...

... who swung by Rella's computer to do some "analogue datamining" and talk game.

CuppaJo stopped by too, and I got a shot with Matt, Cuppa, and Rella.

Matt gave me bunny ears (didn't even know until I posted this )

Also saw and listened to Richard Garrett (Lord British) talk about Tabula Rasa...

... and saw Pann from Auto Assault.

CuppaJo and Matt are excellent people, approachable, and very easy to talk to. Matt seemed especially interested in Rella's character's backstories and badge collections

There were also a lot of free handouts, to include t-shirts, autographed comics, free software, game cards, hats, etc. (some of which I luckily aquired).

So here's some other intel from the shindig from talking to Matt and some other folks (all info is tentative and subject to change of course):
<ul type="square">[*] Trench Coats will be part of the Veteran Rewards System. You will earn this Prestige item after ~3 months of having an active account.[*] Costume bugs are being looked into, although no word yet about the "pointy ears" issue (read the Test server forums for back info)[*] In Recluse's Victory, no one will be able to control more than one Heavy at any time. Heavies will not despawn until the Heavy or its owner is defeated.[*] For those who didn't know and are OCD about badges, there will be exactly ONE (1) Infected in Recluse's Victory that spawns every two hours. Kill him 100 times to get that Isolator badge you missed in Outbreak. Posi said it would be annoyingly hard, after all, so you asked for it [*] I asked Matt if Avilans and BotBS are still on the board, but he misunderstood my questions and said that they will not be the next EAT released. This leads me to speculate that villains will probably get Coralax EATs in I8.[/list]I'll post more info as I think of it.

And to CuppaJo, Positron, and GM Eric, and all the other NCSoft staff who made this possible, thanks for throwing a great party!

    Anyhow

Admittedly, I was actually thinking of Adam West on Family Guy when I saw this cover:

"So it's a screaming match you want? OK. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-I'M WINNING-AHHHHHHHHH..."
